Second part of Frank Scheffer’s tetralogy on the disappearance of musical traditions in the world, “Inner Landscape” follows Guo Wenjing, who wants to recreate the famous Sichuan opera “Si Fan”, Dutch conductor Ed Spanjaard, who wants to create an amalgam of western and Chinese opera with Guo, and opera singer Shen Tiemei, who is the protagonist of the play.

International Film Festival Rotterdam (Iffr) held the awards ceremony for its Pro industry section on Wednesday January 30, with Days Of Cannibalism and Lotus Position winning the inaugural Dutch post-production awards of €50,000 each to be spent in the Netherlands.
The new awards, launched in November last year and delivered with an additional €5,000 each in kind, are a collaboration between the Hubert Bals Fund, the Netherlands Film Fund and the Netherlands post-production Alliance.

Not all docu films that make the cut into the Sundance Institute’s Documentary Edit and Story Labs are fortunate enough to then land a coveted spot at the festival (recent examples include Roger Ross Williams’ God Loves Uganda and Tracy Draz Tragos and Andrew Droz Palermo’s Rich Hill) but some fresh air and supportive pounding from the Institute’s Advisors surely contributes to the realization of passion projects that are buckets filled in blood, sweat and tears. Among the press release mentions below, we’ll surely be discussing them in Park City setting in a January to too far off from now.
