The cinematographer Werner Brandes already made first cinematical experiences by Franz Porten and belongs to the pioneers of the German film.
With the outbreak of World War I his activity in the film business came to a stop, only from 1919 he was able to continue his career as a cinematographer again.
After the war he could not continue his career as a cinematographer. He only was engaged for two more movies - for the American experimental movie "Dreams That Money Can Buy" (1947) directed by Hans Richter and the comedy "Sommerliebe am Bodensee" (1957).
From 1929 Werner Brandes was also active for the British film.
