His artistic career was interrupted during World War II when Gerd Briese was drafted as a soldier in 1939. He was in action till 1945.
Gerd Briese died at the of 59 in 1957 because of a car accident.
After the war he was among others the manager of the Oldenburger Staatstheater from 1949 to 1954.
The actor Gerd Briese experienced a short film career in the 20's. Afterwards he dedicated to the theater.
His only movie appearances after the war were "Benehmen ist Glückssache" (1955) and "Es geschah am 20. Juli" (1955).
