Isabelle McCalla and More Join the Cast of Lyric's 42Nd Street, Starring Norm Lewis and Faith Prince
Lyric has announced full casting for its production of 42nd Street, to be presented May 29 - June 21, 2020, at the Lyric Opera House, 20 N. Wacker Drive, Chicago. Previously announced Broadway stars Norm Lewis Julian Marsh and Faith Prince Dorothy Brock are joined by Isabelle McCalla Peggy Sawyer, who recently starred in Broadway's The Prom and Aladdin, and Ashley Day Billy Lawlor, who reprises his role from the West End revival of 42nd Street.

On Thursday, July 25th, Tony Award winner Beth Leavel stopped by Broadway Artists Alliance to share some words of wisdom before the students' highly anticipated industry showcase. Leavel has been starring as Dee Dee McAllen in the Broadway hit The Prom for the last year, a role for which she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical. She is also well known for her Tony Award win for The Drowsy Chaperone, and her other Broadway credits include Bandstand June Adams, Elf Emily, Baby It's You Florence Greenberg, Tony Award nomination, Mamma Mia Donna, 42nd Street Annie, Dorothy Brock, Showboat Ellie, and The Civil War Mabel, Mrs. Bixby. Leavel took time out of her busy show schedule to connect with the students and share her advice for navigating the theater industry.

Exclusive: Folake Olowofoyeku (Transparent) has been cast in the title role opposite Billy Gardell in CBS multi-camera comedy pilot Bob Abishola. Christine Ebersole (The Wolf of Wall Street), Maribeth Monroe (Workaholics), Shola Adewusi (Paddington 2), Barry Shabaka Henley (Bosch), and Matt Jones (Mom) round out the family in the project that comes from Big Bang, Young Sheldon and Mom co-creator/executive producer Chuck Lorre, Mom co-creator Eddie Gorodetsky and Mike & Molly alum Al Higgins, who have teamed with The Daily Show contributor Gina Yashere. Lorre’s long-time studio home, Warner Bros. TV, produces with Chuck Lorre Prods.

Come and Meet, Those Dancing Feet... Words sung in the title song of the perennial favorite, 42nd Street, and in the latest production of this toe-tapping show (pun intended) produced by Theater of the Stars and performing this week at the Fabulous Fox Theatre, that is exactly what the audience gets to experience. A talented cast giving every last ounce of energy to entertain, and this dazzling production does just that. Starring in this new production of 42nd Street is Loretta Swit, who is most famous for her dramatic and comedic roles on television and on film, but in this production she gets to strut her stuff in true Broadway diva fashion as Dorothy Brock, a true Broadway diva, and does an amazing job conveying the character and emotion of the role.
