Jay Leno is back on stage just days after a suffering a medical emergency that left the comedian with second- and third-degree burns.
An eyewitness tells Et that Leno returned to the Comedy Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California Sunday night at 8:00 p.m., where he was met with a sold out crowd who were happy to see the 72-year-old back for his regular Sunday evening set.
Leno has been performing at the club just about every Sunday since he took over as host of “The Tonight Show” in 1992, where he’d try out his monologue material while reading index cards.
The eyewitness says the comedy club made a “Welcome Back Jay” sign, which also read “We Love You”. The poster was signed by the club owners and staff. Leno was joined by his wife, Mavis, and the club’s owner, who sat with them. Leno appeared to be in good spirits,...

Updated: Jim Carrey, who cut his teeth with his genius physical impressions of Clint Eastwood, Bruce Dern, Henry Fonda and E.T. at the Comedy Store on his way to blockbuster stardom, has tweeted out his condolences and a painting of himself with Mitzi Shore.
Carrey writes, “The great Mitzi Shore, owner of the famous Comedy Store, has passed away. No words can express the gratitude I have for her. We met in 1979. She opened the door to my dreams! If she loved you, you did well. If she didn’t, you did something else. I will love her forever. ;^)”

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" had Kid Cudi on as a guest star last week, and tonight, we get Mr. "Mike Hammer" himself, Stacy Keach. Keach plays Jimmy Brogan, a journalist who penned the quintessential 1970s book "The Squad", detailing "old school" hard living, hard drinking cops, and who Detective Jake (Andy Samberg) idolizes. He wanted to become a cop after reading it (in elementary school, it seems.) Brogan is writing a new article on how Brooklyn detectives have changed since he wrote "The Squad" and he's going to shadow Jake and Santiago. She and Holt (Andre Braugher) aren't really excited about this situation, since Brogan is an old windbag, but Jake is like a butt-kissing kid on Christmas. He even goes out drinking with Brogan, leading to some lovely Samberg hangover moments. Unfortunately, during the binge, Jake utters some not-so-flattering lines about Holt (mostly about still being forced to wear a tie), on the record.

Tonight on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) will commit a crime: He’ll show up to work with a spectacular hangover. Not surprisingly, Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) is not amused. In the episode, which airs at 8:30 p.m. on Fox, Holt torments Jake with a nasty hangover cure after his long night of drinking with his idol, crime reporter Jimmy Brogan (played by guest star Stacy Keach). But what you won’t see is another version of the scene that was shot, in which Holt finds a few different ways to torture the normally playful but currently miserable detective.

Rob Morrow is defense attorney Jimmy Brogan on ABC's new legal drama "The Whole Truth" and he tells Zap2it he sees the role as liberating after his stoic character on "Numb3rs."
"Initially it just jumped out at me as fun," Morrow laughs. "The guy on 'Numb3rs' was very a very reticent, iconic classic quiet hero and this guy is the opposite. It just seemed liberating. The character I was playing on 'Numb3rs' was a bit repressed."
Part of the free-wheeling nature of Brogan is his tension-filled relationship with Maura Tierney's Kathryn Peale, the Bureau Chief in the Manhattan District Attorney's office.
"I'm always advocating exploring more and more. It's a convention or a trope of network television, to have these characters that have this attraction and are almost getting together but not," says Morrow.

Now that Law & Order is off to greener pastures, there’s a void in the fall TV schedule for courtroom-drama aficionados. Enter: The Whole Truth. It’s basically your standard we’ll-finish-any-case-by-minute-59 procedural, with Maura Tierney and Rob Morrow playing rival lawyers almost always on opposite sides of the courtroom (Every courtroom. Seriously, are there no other lawyers in Manhattan?). In the pilot, a high school teacher was on trial for the murder of one of his Esl students. There were hate crime allegations, cell-phone sex tapes, and a reference to Clint Eastwood’s Magnum Force. Ah, where to begin?...

Chicago – Every year, there’s a program or two for which it is strikingly easy to recognize exactly what people will love about it and what many will equally hate about it. Said programs are usually the product of creators with strong and identifiable styles and Jerry Bruckheimer is certainly one of those. Even casual fans would recognize his slick approach to the medium and your tolerance for that is going to determine your judgment on ABC’s “The Whole Truth,” a program that works for me but might not work for you.

While it might seem that the last thing television needs is yet another legal drama (okay, the last thing it really needs is yet another legal, cop or medical drama), ABC’s The Whole Truth does offer something genuinely different for the genre: an out gay character who is actually featured prominently.
The character is Alejo Salazar, a defense attorney who is the best friend and right hand man for Jimmy Brogan (Rob Morrow), the founder of the law firm for which Alejo works. And not only is Alejo gay, but he’s a gay man of color, something still all too rare on network television.
Even better, unlike many current legal and crime procedurals, The Whole Truth promises that viewers will get to know the personal lives of the characters. And in the case of Alejo, that includes a partner involved in Washington D.C. politics and who should...

In our continuing effort to get you ready for the upcoming fall season, we're previewing pilots that were sent to critics earlier this summer.
Keep in mind that in each case, our opinions are based on a pilot that could be completely recast and reworked between now and the fall. This is one of those shows that's radically changed since its original pilot.
Show: 'The Whole Truth'
Network: ABC
Timeslot: Wednesdays, 10Pm Et (Premieres September 22)
The lowdown: Essentially, in this show viewers see the story of a criminal trial from both sides of the aisle. As we switch back and forth between the prosecuting and defense teams, we see how they operate to work the system to their side's advantage. On the defense side is Jimmy Brogan (Rob Morrow), who grew up in Hell's Kitchen and has a bit of an unorthodox style.

Just how significant are the differences between ABC, arguably the most gay-inclusive network, and NBC, Fox and especially CBS when it comes to gay and bisexual representation on television?
Well, I think it says something that on the same day that I asked CBS president Nina Tassler about her network's failing grade from GLAAD, and she announced that the best CBS could manage for the next season was to add in three minor gay characters to existing shows, I also learned that yet another ABC show was going to prominently feature an out gay character.
The program is The Whole Truth, a legal drama starring Mara Tierney and Rob Morrow. The setup of the show is that Tierney plays Kathryn Peale, an attorney working in the Manhattan District Attorney's office, while Morrow plays Jimmy Brogan, a rising defense attorney.

Welcome to your Monday morning television briefing. Deadline's Nellie Andreeva is reporting that AMC and Sony Pictures Television have reached a deal to order a fourth season of drama series Breaking Bad, which would air on the cabler next year. A formal announcement from the network is expected to come later today and the deal was reached after both sides were able to compromise on the production budget after there was an impasse over $.2 million. (Deadline) Ricky Gervais has signed on to appear on the next season of HBO comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm, in which he'll play himself in the eighth episode of the season. No other details were immediately available. Production is set to get underway later this summer. Elsewhere, HBO would seem to be the frontrunner to become the Us home of Gervais and Stephen Merchant's latest BBC comedy pilot, Life's Too Short, which stars Warwick Davis (Harry Potter). Maura Tierney is officially on board ABC's new legal drama "The Whole Truth" which previously had Joely Richardson on the lead. Tierney who is in remission after successfully battling breast cancer since late last year, will take the role of Kathryn Peale, a deputy bureau chief in the Manhattan District Attorney's office.
Richardson had taken the role and even shot the scenes previously but she backed out of the project to spend more time with her family. The 45-year-old buried her aunt Lynn Redgrave in May and her uncle Corin Redgrave in April. Last year she lost her sibling Natasha Richardson in a skiing accident. Joely Richardson has an 18-year-old daughter named Daisy.

A few years ago Jerry Bruckheimer produced a series on Fox called "Justice". I really, really liked that show. It was about a group of lawyers and at the end of every episode they showed what really happened with the crime or the accident. I was sad when Justice was canceled. Bruckheimer's new series for ABC, "The Whole Truth", will be airing this fall on Wednesday nights at 10:00 p.m. and although it's not the same show, it sort of reminds me of Justice, which makes me excited about this new series.
Coincidentally, Eamonn Walker appeared in Justice and will also be appearing in this show, along with Nip/Tuck actress Joley Richardson. Today ABC released two sneak peeks from the series at its Upfront presentation and we have them for you below.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the third announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on ABC.
The Alphabet solidly finished this past season with five of the top fifteen highest-rated TV series in the key Adults 18-49 demographic - "Grey's Anatomy," "Lost," "Desperate Housewives," "Dancing with the Stars" and "The Bachelor". Yet there's an obvious concern that the network has been floundering a bit when it comes to new shows - especially in terms of scripted drama which has been its greatest strength in modern times.
ABC had success launching four comedies last year, with both "Cougar Town" and "Modern Family" becoming ratings hits and the latter drawing critical acclaim. "Hank" outright flopped, but "The Middle" did well enough to get renewed. With reality shows it continues to do strong business...
