John Lennon‘s “Give Peace a Chance” has bizarre lyrics. Notably, the band Hot Chocolate released a reggae version of the song with new lyrics. John unexpectedly embraced the song.

During a 1998 interview in The Independent, Hot Chocolate member Errol Brown discussed how the band came together. “Back in 1968, through mutual friends, I met Tony Wilson, whose flat was almost opposite mine,” he said.
“Round this time, I began to get melodies in my head,” he continued. “Normally, I wouldn’t take any notice of them, but one day when Tony was driving the car, it happened again. Instead of ignoring the tune, I started to hum it aloud. He asked me what it was. ‘Just something that popped into my mind,’ I replied.

While Halloween is a holiday that most of us horror-loving adults have claimed as our own, that doesn’t mean we should overlook how much kids look forward to October 31st each year. That being said, I put together 10 different delicious recipes I’ve collected over the last year from Pinterest that your young ghouls and goblins will enjoy during October. Plus, if you’re throwing the little monsters a Halloween-themed party in the coming weeks, most of these ideas are super easy to do, and shouldn’t cost you a lot to make, either.
Candy Corn Hot Chocolate
Candy Corn might be a controversial treat amongst us older folks, but I know kids still love those sugary snacks, which is why I thought this Candy Corn Hot Chocolate (via The Magical Slow Cooker) would be a fun drink to serve at a party or after a long night of trick-or-treating.

The Meyerowitz Stories comes to Netflix this week, so Chris looks back at Noah Baumbach's last farce...
It's not uncommon for a hip song to singularly define a film, but rarely do they also unlock or embody a character with equal force. When Mistress America does so with “You Could’ve Been A Lady” by Hot Chocolate it’s working with a character that wants to similarly been seen as a lot of things, but most importantly cool. As if Great Greta Gerwig could ever be seen as something less than complex and cool as heck.
Mistress America takes off musically with a more subdued approach. Lola Kirke’s Tracy arrives at college, one of the times where we we allow music to outwardly define us, whether it’s a dorm poster or conversation starter. It's no surprise that college films lean in heavy on contemporary musical hipness for their identity.

The sun is setting on summer weather, and the clouds are slowly moving in. It's time to get cozy. While we all love to frolic in the sun, there's something about time spent indoors during the fall and winter months that brings a warm, fuzzy feeling. Hot chocolate, snuggles, fresh-out-the-dryer robes, good-smelling candles—there are so many wonderful ways to spend time inside. For celebrities like Emily Ratajkowski, Kaia Gerber and Tracee Ellis Ross, relaxing is more than a option—it's a necessity. When your life moves fast (photo shoots, appearances, fittings, meet-and-greets, etc), you have to stop and catch your breath, refocus and turn inward. And, thankfully, our favorite...

A few words on letting happiness slip back into life...
It’s funny; I don’t think I ever imagined I’d be writing a piece about this.
See related Twin Peaks season 3: Kyle MacLachlan chats about the finale Looking back at Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
As someone who battles with both depression and anxiety, to the extent I felt suicidal during one particularly low period of my life (I’ve written here before about this) it’s something that never felt really likely. I could tell you what it meant to be sad, truly sad, devoid of feeling and trapped by my own self-doubts. I could tell you what it meant to be nervous, crippled by uncertainty, trapped by self-doubt and riddled with self-loathing. Happiness felt so unlikely, far removed and truly out of my reach.

Life has its share of mysteries, but the contents of a box of drugstore chocolates (think Russell Stover and Godiva) doesn’t have to be one of them. Most follow the same plan, largely for practical reasons. Square and rectangular treats typically have crunchy or chewy centers: “Fillings like caramel and toffee cool on large slabs, then are cut at right angles and dipped in chocolate,” says Tom Ward, the president and CEO of Russell Stover. Circular and oval treats almost always contain soft fillings, such as ganache or cream. Nut candies have easy-to-read bumpy surfaces.

It's immensely satisfying as a viewer to watch as the villain's plans go awry for once. After all, we're all so used to seeing the heroes' plans get screwed up.
Happily, Alexander Rook got that treatment on Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 9. Having the nanites 2.0 as the perfect bait and poor Dr. Waver as the perfect patsy, he thought he had everything set just right.

However, as Field Marshal Helmuth von Moltke the Elder pointed out, "No battle plan survives contact with the enemy."
I can't tell you how pleased I was when Rook's goo monster infiltration of Three got spotted right away by Six, who noticed Three's out-of-character behavior and said something about it! And then they incapacitated Three and safely locked him up!
I was half-expecting that "Three-is-mind-controlled" thing to drag on another episode or three, but Six was right on the ball.

Read More: Watch: First Clip from Noah Baumbach's 'Mistress America' With Lola Kirke & Greta Gerwig Today we have an exclusive listen at three tracks from Wareham and Phillips score for the the film: the titular theme song, "Tracy & Tony," and "Tracy In New York." And the trio of tunes put the duo's trademark dream synths up front, bringing a vibrant energy to backdrop Baumbach's New York City tale. It's beautiful stuff, and with the soundtrack rounded out by tunes from Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, Paul McCartney, Suicide,...

The guy who sang one of the catchiest hits of the '70s -- "You Sexy Thing" -- has died. Errol Brown was the lead singer of Hot Chocolate, who were big in the '70s and '80s. "You Sexy Thing" had a second wind in 1997, when it was featured in "The Full Monty." Brown and Hot Chocolate had other hits as well, including "Every 1's a Winner." Warner Bros. showed some footage this week at CinemaCon; it looks like Depp is going overboard with the makeup as usual, aging as he goes and wearing strange contact lenses as Irish mobster James “Whitey” Bulger. For me, that pulls you out of a movie that seems reminiscent of the Martin Scorsese classic "Goodfellas." The sprawling cast is strong: Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemons, Kevin Bacon, Rory Cochrane, David Harbour, Dakota Johnson, , Julianne Nicholson, James Russo, Adam Scott, Corey Stoll, Juno Temple, W. Earl Brown, Bill Camp, Brad Carter and Jeremy Strong. The screenplay by Mark Mallouk and Jez Butterworth, based on the book by Dick Lehr and Gerard O’Neill, centers on the Whitey Bulger empire in South Boston, from the 1970s to the 90s. FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) persuades Whitey Bulger to collaborate with the FBI and turn against their common enemy, the Italian mob.

Pre-credit sequence. We begin at Nagarote, as I try to remember where we left off and what the names of the tribes were. Shirin is sad to have been blindsided and to have lost Max. "I don't know that I can trust you," Carolyn tells Shirin, further shunting her aside. Shirin protests that Max made her isolate herself, but Carolyn is being rough, making it clear that she wants no part of the newly solitary Shirin. "Is anybody left in this game willing to play with me?" Shirin ponders, wondering if this is a reflection on her. Hali levels with Shirin and tells her that Max had been annoying and that people felt like she was annoying as well. Ouch. This hits home for Shirin, who grew up rich, but not popular. So sad. I guess. Kinda. "I'm trying to do now what I was incapable of doing back then,...

Fox has confirmed the return date of Louie in the UK.
Louis Ck's sitcom will premiere on Thursday, April 16 at 11pm, just a week after it begins on FX in the Us.
Louie's fifth season launches on April 9 in the Us, after being recommissioned in 2014.
The show combines comedy, drama and stand-up elements and is loosely based on the comic's life. The fourth season dropped its familiar intro which used Reggie Watts's version of Hot Chocolate's 'Brother Louie'.
Earlier this year, Ck made history by becoming the first comedian to sell out four shows at Madison Square Garden in a single month.
Louis Ck and Zach Galifianakis are also set to star in new FX series Baskets, a comedy about clowning, which is due to premiere in 2016.

It’s official. Thanksgiving has come and gone and it’s freezing outside — well, here in L.A. it’s still in the 60’s most of the time, but it’s been raining a little lately and that’s the same thing as being snowed in, right? Being so cold you might turn into a personsicle isn’t all bad.
Just stay inside and enjoy these 13 perks:
1. You Finally Get to Wear the “Ugly Sweater” You Actually Think Is Cool But Can’t Get Away Wearing Anytime Else. Because apparently if it has a giant, yarn Santa crocheted to the front, you can’t proudly wear it in public.
News: New 'Frozen' will be in theaters next year — get the scoop!
2. And Because You’re Wearing That Sweater All the Time, You Don’t Have to Worry About What’s Underneath. Goodbye bikini season, hello sweater weather, where bodies remain a mystery under that groundhog...

Just when you think you have The Vampire Diaries figured out, it goes in a direction so unforeseen, you find yourself checking your TV Guide to make sure you’re on the right channel. TV Guide, you ask? What is that? An early form of the “list” button, kind of like a cross between Tivo and a magazine. What is a magazine, you ask? Never mind. Last night’s episode was dark — really dark. Possibly the darkest we’ve ever seen this show go. But it was also straight-up delightful. Like an episode of Gilmore Girls where the heater breaks and everyone has to walk around in puffy sweaters and funny-looking hats. Hot chocolate all around!“Fade Into You” was two polar-opposite things butted so close together that they had no choice but to hug. Like black and white, Bieber and Sinatra, Nick Jonas and virginity, Friendsgiving and the tale of Jo,...

As the marketing for "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" carries on, it can be easy to forget that there is actual movie in between the mobile games, Ron Burgundy guest appearances, branded clothes, and more. But as we get closer to the release date, the fog of commercials is beginning to clear and the comedy is beckoning on the horizon. And wouldn't you know it? The movie could be an Oscar contender. Paramount Pictures are slowly building out their For Your Consideration site, and have dropped their original song "Doby" from Ron Burgundy's movie for everyone to hear. The overwrought ballad (complete with children's choir) is pretty funny stuff, so kudos there. But it's not the only tune in the movie. The soundtrack is absolutely packed with songs from the '70s/early '80s featuring disco (Hot Chocolate), hip hop (Grandmaster Flash) and even some pretty deep cuts (Ennio Morricone...

The other night my friend and I were discussing the nature of comedy after watching Louie and he mentioned how for him the element of surprise is crucial to the funniest bits he’s seen. Each of the stories in “Barney/Never” prominently used what can be considered elements of surprise as catalysts for the stories’ climaxes. Part of what distinguishes these moments in “Barney/Never” from mere shock comedy though are the worlds of context which are built around these moments giving them emotional weight and personal resonance. Well, for the most part anyway.
In the case of the “Barney” segment, that gravity was evident from the very first scene which was a departure from the usual opening credits of Louie emerging from the subway and getting a slice of pizza before descending into the Comedy Cellar during Ian Lloyd’s rendition of Hot Chocolate...

Rhonda character in Big W staff video
Insurance company Aami is reviewing a new ad campaign by Woolworths-owned discount retailer Big W to see if it infringes on its copyright.
The new Big W ‘Cha-Ching’ campaign involves – according to Woolworths – a “light-hearted staff competition inviting stores to creatively represent the ‘cha-ching’ on video.”
A number of these videos have been posted on YouTube.
Richard Riboni, executive manager of marketing at Aami, told Mumbrella that the company’s legal team was reviewing the videos to see if they infringed on his brand’s copyright.
He said that the staff videos potentially constituted a legal “grey area” since they are not hosted on Big W’s official YouTube channel – like Big W’s other ads.
“If they are not directly linked to the brand campaign, it is hard to argue that they are using our IP to promote their product,” he said.

Big W has released a new price-led campaign in its battle with the discount retailers.
The ad uses the famous ‘Everyone’s a winner baby’ track by Hot Chocolate, and a blue blob made from Big W’s logo.
It sees the old ‘Get it for less’ positioning replaced with ‘Everyone’s a winner with Australia’s lowest prices. Cha-ching.’
It is the first major campaign for the Woolworths-owned brand by Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney, which won the business from Ideaworks in February.
The launch of the ad coincides with an internal staff promotion at Big W, which has seen Big W staffers post videos from their stores holding Cha-Ching signs.
Woolworths was unavailable for comment on whether the staff video stunts, which contain references to other ads including Aami’s Rhonda campaign, are part of the Cha-Ching campaign.
