Lindsey Buckingham, the former Fleetwood Mac guitarist who underwent open heart surgery earlier this year, made his first public appearance since the procedure over the weekend at his daughter Leelee’s high school graduation ceremony. Buckingham performed Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” on acoustic guitar while students from his daughter’s school sang the 1975 classic.
“Last night was epic,” his wife Kristen Buckingham tweeted. “First time I’ve seen Lindsey play in the last 4 mos, all the while Leelee ending her high school career. And she sings a little ‘Landslide’ with her dad.

As announced on SiriusXM yesterday, on September 28, Reprise Records will release “An American Treasure” — a career-spanning Tom Petty box set containing dozens of previously unreleased recordings, alternate versions of classic songs, rarities, historic live performances and deep tracks. An American Treasuremarks the first release of Tom Petty music since the artist’s tragic passing in October 2017.
The first single from the set is “Keep A Little Soul,” a previously unreleased recording from 1982 sessions that resulted in Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ classic album, “Long After Dark”. Watch the video featuring rare never-before-seen footage of the band here.
According to the announcement on a redesigned Petty website, Tom’s daughter, Adria, and his wife, Dana, were the primary catalysts for the commission, creation and release of “An American Treasure.” Both serve as the project’s Executive Producers, and, together with Tom’s bandmates of 45 years, Heartbreakers Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench, and his studio collaborator,...

Over the course of a professional career that spanned more than 40 years, Tom Petty released a vast amount of material, including 13 albums with the Heartbreakers, three solo outings, two with Mudcrutch and dozens if not hundreds of covers, outtakes, live versions, stray B-sides, Petty songs covered by other artists, and more.
Yet there’s a lot of unreleased music inside the late musician’s vault, and four CDs of it will be coming in a boxed set called “American Treasure” scheduled for release on Sept 28, it was announced on the Petty channel on SiriusXM Tuesday. The set, featuring artwork by Shepard Fairey, will include previously unreleased live and studio material, alternate versions — 60 songs in total, compiled by Petty’s daughter Adria, his wife Dana, longtime Heartbreakers Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench and veteran Petty engineer Ryan Ulyate. It dates from the beginnings of the Heartbreakers to recent years, which presumably...

Backyard Tire Fire Hometown: Bloomington, Ill.
Fun Fact: George Wendt (Aka: Norm from Cheers) is a big fan. He discovered and met the band a few years ago when it opened for Alejandro Escovedo. They've been friends every since.
While It's Worth Watching: Brandishing a raucous live show and inventive studio albums, these Midwesterners sound like a drunkenly angry Tom Petty crawling out of a Florida swamp.
For Fans Of: Neil Young, Uncle Tupelo, Cracker
In conversation, Backyard Tire Fire singer/guitarist Ed Anderson is quick to point out what he likes—Neil Young, Tom Petty’s Wildflowers, making analog records, David Lowry’s songs, albums from the 1970s, Budweiser, Mike Campbell’s guitar.
