Sin City producer Stephen L'Heureux's Solipsist Films has acquired the rights to Ed Laroche's graphic novel Almighty.
According to Mania, Black Hawk Down screenwriter Ken Nolan is attached to write the script and potential directors are being approached.
Created, written and drawn by Laroche, Almighty takes place in 2098 and follows a female motorcycling mercenary called Fale, who is hired to rescue a girl and bring her home across a third world America - "a fractured landscape of segregated zones driven by neo-tribalism."
Laroche said: "At its heart Almighty is a pursuit story. As the story unfolds there are other things that are attached to it but at the core of it, a girl has been kidnapped and someone has hired a killer to find her and bring her home." The official website for Almighty is here.
Mania adds that Solipsist has also picked up screen rights on two other titles.

Surprise! Another graphic novel (which is a fancy term Hollywood uses when they want to fool audiences into thinking the subject matter of their next movie was not based upon a comic book) is coming to the screen, but this time it's the small one!
According to The Hollywood Reporter Fox21 has partnered with Platinum Studios to develop a TV series based on Platinum's graphic novel "Gunplay." "Final Destination" writer-producer Glen Morgan is on board to adapt the novel, created and written by Jorge Vega. "Gunplay" centers on Abner Meeks, a buffalo soldier condemned to roam the Old West with a hellish curse slung at his waist: a demonic shooting iron that forces him to kill once a day or suffer soul-searing pain. "'Gunplay' is one of those rare combinations of fantastically created characters and wonderfully told narrative, which creates an inventive canvas from which to play," Platinum Studios chairman...

Fox already has The Human Target, a new show based on a comic book character who has a penchant for hardcore action. They could also have Indestructible Man on the air too and it's also based on a comic book property, this time owned by Platinum Studios.
The premise behind the property is that the central character, a secret agent by the name of Nick Rabel, can't be killed or destroyed. He can be hurt, he can be messed up and he can feel the pain that comes from it. No, his codename isn't Wolverine.
Platinum hasn't published the comic yet but Fox21 president Chris Carlisle dug the concept and wants a TV show out of it, calling the property "a unique combination of superpowers and humor."
Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, head honcho of Platinum, will be an executive producer on the show.

In her new position as senior vp marketing and promotion, Gibbons will be responsible for the creation and implementation of marketing and promotional campaigns for FX, as well as print and electronic advertising for the network.
