- Planned to jump the St. Lawrence Seaway from Canada into the United States on 26 September 1979 in a jet-powered Lincoln Continental, but didn't go through with it. Deciding that Carter had "chickened out," the film crew hired to shoot the stunt convinced Kenny Powers to attempt it, which he did on 5 October. Traveling just 509 feet, Powers broke eight vertebrae, three ribs, and a wrist.
- Managed and announced at a Florida race track when he was not on tour.
- Was a fan of Elvis Presley, Pat Boone, Humperdinck, and R&R. Rarely went to the movies. He watched sports, mostly football and baseball. He knew all the names of the Montreal expos players.
