Of course the world is unfair to women, and women’s concerns are often dimissed as imaginary and hysterical. It’s theoretically possible that Gone is attempting to counter that, wants to maybe even salvage the notion that women are, in fact, to be trusted to interpret the world in rational ways. If so, this sorry excuse for a film is laughable. If it merely wants to be an involving, provocative thriller... well, it fails miserably at that, too. Amanda Seyfried’s (In Time, Letters to Juliet) Jill escaped from a serial killer last year -- because, you know, that happens -- and her perfectly understandable trauma after this terrible event is exacerbated by the fact that the cops don’t believe her: they think she invented her kidnapping and terrorizing -- because, you know, women do that -- not out of malice or deceit but because, you know, she’s looney tunes.

From most accounts Gone was underwhelming at best, but of course no film is ever fully accounted for around these parts until Trembles has weighed in with one of his Mpp reviews. Read on for his take on the film.
Gone was directed by Heitor Dhalia from a script by Allison Burnett. Amanda Seyfried's co-stars include Emily Wickersham, Wes Bentley, Jennifer Carpenter, and Erin Carufel.
Synopsis:
Gone centers on Jill Parrish, a young woman (Seyfried) who returns home from her night shift to find her sister Molly's bed empty. Jill is convinced that the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job, but when the police do not believe her and with no one to turn to, the woman sets off to find her sister and face her abductor once and for all.

Summit Entertainment has released the first clip from Gone, their thriller starring Amanda Seyfried in theaters February 24. The clip pits Seyfried against two suspicious cops whom I'd bet are responsible for the kidnappings (or at least the one with stupid Twilight hair). Not overly different from anything that has come so far from the 'Gone' camp. But nevertheless a new still from the Heitor Dhalia helmed thriller has emerged featuring its star Amanda Seyfried ('Red Riding Hood', 'In Time'). Jennifer Carpenter ('Dexter'), Emily Wickersham, Wes Bentley ('The Hunger Games'), Erin Carufel, Sebastian Stan and Socratis Otto also star in the project. Check out the new pic below....

Hoping to clear my memory of this hideous poster, I'm staring intensely at Amanda Seyfried in the first two official images from Summit Entertainment's Gone, their thriller in theaters February 24. They're still pretty boring. Seyfried is the sole reason I still want to see this (who says star power is dead?) From the so-so trailer to these hum-ho stills, I think it's safe to assume that we should be mildly "alarmed". Summit Entertainment have released two new images from Amanda Seyfried’s new Taken-esque thriller Gone, which tells the story of a girl who is kidnapped by a serial killer, and her older sister that sets out on a mission to rescue her. Gone, which is released on February 24th, also stars Emily Wickersham, Wes Bentley, Jennifer Carpenter, Erin Carufel, Sebastian Stan and Socratis Otto.
Jill Parrish comes home from working the night shift to discover that her sister Molly has disappeared. Jill is convinced that Molly has been abducted by the same serial killer from whom Jill escaped the year before and that by sundown Molly will be dead. The police think Jill is crazy, so she sets out alone to rescue her. Is Jill mentally ill, merely chasing shadows, or will she find Molly before it’s too late?...

I just Gone and barfed all over my parent's carpet. The poster has premiered for Summit Entertainment's Gone, the Heitor Dhalia-directed thriller starring Amanda Seyfried, Emily Wickersham, Wes Bentley, Jennifer Carpenter, Erin Carufel, Sebastian Stan, and Socratis Otto. In theaters February 24, the one-sheet depicts a collage of Seyfried's face, a mysterious woman and an even more mysterious intruder. At quick glance all I see are Seyfried's "f*ck me eyes". Hey, sex sells. I know a few people who'd hang this post on their ceiling. (Didn't mean to go there. But yes, yes I did.) "The thriller revolves around a young woman named Jill (Seyfried) who returns home from her night shift to find her sister's bed empty. I’ve never understood the appeal of Amanda Seyfried. Despite her break-out role in Mean Girls, the actress hasn’t yet to be involved in a worthwhile film. With her last run of Jennifer’s Body, Chloe, Dear John, Letters to Juliet, Red Riding Hood, and despite a good performance in Andrew Niccol‘s In Time, they’ve all failed for the most part.
So I’m filled with disinterest when it comes to the trailer for her next film, Gone. In the thriller she goes on her own hunt for a serial killer, marking the biggest film from Brazilian director Heitor Dhalia (Adrift). The aesthetic looks like a standard TV show and not a scene from the trailer drummed up any terror, but one can see for themselves below via Yahoo for the film also starring Emily Wickersham, Wes Bentley, Jennifer Carpenter and Erin Carufel.
