The Season 4 finale of “Stranger Things,” which streamed July 1, 2022 on Netflix, was recently nominated for six Emmy Awards: music supervision, non-prosthetic makeup, sound editing, sound mixing and stunt performance (x2). However, due to the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes, the upcoming Emmys, which were supposed to take place in September 2023, have been pushed back to January 2024. That means the heralded episode in question, titled “The Piggyback,” will have to wait an astounding 555 days between airing and trophy-bestowing.
To clarify: the Creative Arts Emmys (mostly for below-the-line and technical achievements) will now take place January 6 and 7 of 2024, and the main Primetime Emmys are scheduled for one week later on Monday, January 15.

All six of “Stranger Things'” nominations this time around will be doled out at the Creative Arts. But that doesn’t mean it was snubbed in the top races.

The widow of Mickey Rooney has withdrawn her lawsuit against The Hollywood Reporter three months after filing it.
Jan Rooney had accused the periodical, its journalists and their editor in late 2017 of intentional infliction of emotional distress and elder abuse due to its 2015 publication of an investigative article detailing her and her son’s own alleged elder abuse of the legendary actor, who died in 2014. She asserted that the reporters’ act of asking her questions about her late husband’s purported mistreatment at her hands caused her to “suffer severe emotional distress and mental suffering.”

After weeks of controversy over who would — and more frequently who would not — perform at now-President Donald Trump‘s inauguration, two acts have officially fulfilled their duties.
The first was the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, clad in plaid scarves, who performed a rendition of “America the Beautiful” in between Vice President Mike Pence and Trump’s oaths of office.
Closing out the swearing-in ceremony was Jackie Evancho, a 16-year-old singer and America’s Got Talent star, who sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” on the Capitol steps. Though she appeared nervous, she sang the national anthem accompanied by the United States Marine Band...

A Mormon Tabernacle Choir singer who quit the ensemble over its planned performance at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration doubled down on her decision in an interview with CNN on Tuesday. “This goes far beyond any past inaugural situation. I am seeing very similar parallels of fascism,” Jan Chamberlin told Carol Costello before reaffirming her withdrawal from the choir. She also said she doesn’t regret using harsh words in a Facebook post announcing the decision, which precluded her from appearing to support “very vile practices and positions” by performing. “This is my personal view: I love my church leaders and I love my religion,...

Mickey Rooney's children have filed suit in Los Angeles seeking that his will be invalidated, claiming the legendary actor faced "undue influence" when he signed it just weeks before his death. His biological children are not named as beneficiaries to his estate, now valued at $18,000 but potentially worth considerably more in the future from licensing rights and memorabilia, including an Oscar. Instead, the beneficiary is Mark Aber, Rooney's stepson and caretaker in his final days. Rooney died April 6 at age 93. The May 7 Superior Court filing, by seven of his eight surviving children, alleges that Aber and the estate's current executor,...

Hollywood veteran Mickey Rooney has launched a lawsuit against his stepson, accusing him of tricking the star out of millions of dollars.
The Babes on Broadway actor won a restraining order against Christopher Aber and his wife earlier this year amid claims Aber had been attempting to convince the star to sign over control of his assets, leaving the 90 year old fearing for his safety.
Rooney's attorney Michael Augustine was appointed temporary conservator of his legal and financial affairs in March.
Now the actor is suing Aber, accusing him of spending the star's money "as if it were his own" and keeping him "in poverty", according to papers filed in Los Angeles.
Aber and his wife have been accused of breach of trust, abuse and fraud over the last decade, after he allegedly paid himself a generous salary out of Rooney's earnings.
The legal documents, obtained by the BBC, state, "While Chris instilled fear in Mickey and kept him in poverty, Chris took advantage of his unfettered access to Mickey's income. Chris consistently paid himself a generous salary from Mickey's earnings, took advances on his salary and spent Mickey's money as if it were his own."
But Aber, who is the son of Rooney's eighth wife Jan Chamberlin, is accusing the star's legal team of driving the case.

Former MGM leading man Mickey Rooney, at one time the biggest box-office name in the country, appeared before a new audience Wednesday: the United States Congress. The 90-year-old - whose on-screen problems were always easily resolved when he played all-American boy Andy Hardy - told a Senate hearing of a real-life drama involving elder abuse, and he spoke from his personal case history, he said. "I felt trapped, scared, used and frustrated," testified Rooney, who also said he and his (ninth) wife Jan were made to go hungry, he had medicine withheld from him and that his Oscar was even sold off.

Veteran actor Mickey Rooney has been granted a restraining order against his step son who he claims has been threatening, intimidating, and harassing him. The 90-year-old "A Family Affair" star claims Christopher Aber, 52, is coercing him to sign over his assets to him.
Aber is the son of Rooney's eighth and current wife Jan Chamberlin, whom he married in 1978. He is allegedly abusive towards the multi-award-winning actor in a bid to coerce him into signing over his money.
Apparently, the stepson has deprived the aging actor of medication and food and has confiscated his passport and other identification cards, effectively rendering him a prisoner in his home.
According to Rooney's petition, obtained by TMZ, "Mickey is extremely fearful that Chris will become physically threatening against Mickey and may even attempt to kidnap Mickey from his home."...

For the generations of Americans that came of age during the Vietnam, Gulf, Afghanistan, and Iraq wars, the previous sentence may read like a typo, but it’s not one.
