It’s safe to say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t been on the top of its game for a few years. That’s not to say that there haven’t been some great movies released during that time, but fans typically point to Avengers: Endgame as the high point of the entire franchise. With dwindling box offices and lackluster reviews, some point to superhero fatigue as the cause, but directors Joe and Anthony Russo have a different explanation.
The Avengers: Endgame directors told GamesRadar that the problem is something much bigger than superhero fatigue, as it affects the rest of Hollywood as well. “I think it’s a reflection of the current state of everything,” Joe Russo said. “It’s difficult right now, it’s an interesting time. I think we’re in a transitional period and people don’t know quite yet how they’re going to receive stories moving forward,...

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves features many beautiful sets, from a prison in Icewind Dale to the fiery Underdark to the splendid city of Neverwinter. Den of Geek magazine welcomed production designer Ray Chan to take us through how he brought all these beloved settings to the big screen.
This was a real fun set that I’d designed where our heroes had to first navigate through the silent army of gnomes in an area in the gnomish city of Dolblunde that is filled with terracotta-style statues before climbing the steep Hill of Bones. The bones were made by our in-house prop-making team using conventional molding and casting techniques. All of the bones were cast in soft foam, making sure that if anyone fell, they would essentially land on a soft, bouncy surface. At the very top of the hill, where Themberchaud sleeps,...

"How deep are you?" "As deep as it gets." Well Go USA has debuted a brand new trailer for the official re-release of this martial arts action thriller titled Beyond Redemption. This movie originally premiered in 2015 and open in Canadian theaters in 2016, and was eventually given a proper Blu-ray / VOD release in the US by Well Go. Beyond Redemption is the only feature directed by Bruce Fontaine, a martial arts expert & stuntman who spent years in Hong Kong. It stars a group of other stuntmen in most of the roles, including Brian Ho, in a generic but entertaining undercover story. This seems like one of these underground cult hit action films that has been lost in the mix, now finally getting a chance to shine again. A weary undercover cop must maintain his cover while saving the daughter of a notorious Triad Boss from becoming collateral damage in a sting operation gone wrong.

What’s exciting about “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is that the limited series format on Disney+ provided a great opportunity for director Kari Skogland to dig deeper into the Captain America mythology than the previous Marvel features. She had a vision for a gritty psychological thriller and took full advantage of the nearly six hours to explore the legacy of the shield on micro and macro levels, with Falcon Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) finally taking on the mantle as a unifying racial force.
Indeed, it’s about Sam’s crucible to become the first Black Captain America in a chaotic, post-Blip world, and teaming up with Bucky/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) after disastrously relinquishing the shield to John Walker (Wyatt Russell).
From a visual standpoint, the shield was the driving force for cinematographer P.J. Dillon. “Kari definitely wanted to take a slightly rougher approach than the features, and...

In Marvel's new "Guardians of the Galaxy," Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) cruises the galaxy in style, and now he wants to give fans a tour of his ship, the Milano. One thing that none of the million-dollar pads seen on MTV's "Cribs" ever had was an intergalactic spaceship, and, while the Milano may no longer be state-of-the-art, Star-Lord can still outmaneuver the bad guys and check his Twitter feed. Just don't bring a blacklight. Peep this: The video is good for a quick laugh, but also highlights the film's practical elements, which may be overshadowed by some of the CG effects. The Milano (named after "Who's the Boss?" and "Charmed" star Alyssa Milano) looks like an actual, working spaceship -- although one that's seen quite a bit of action -- courtesy of production designers Charles Wood, Ravi Bansal, Ray Chan and set decorator Richard Roberts. In theaters now, "Guardians of the Galaxy" also stars Zoe Saldana,...
