Combining its inspirational and sports-movie tropes in hackneyed, unoriginal fashion, Timothy A. Chey’s Slamma Jamma seems to be anticipating its own bad reviews. One of the film’s minor characters is an obnoxious “sports critic” who gets a tongue-lashing from an observer who questions his credentials for commenting about basketball even though he’s never played the game himself. Well, most people have never made a movie but they know a bad one when they see one, and this is it.

If Slamma Jamma isn’t the worst movie ever made about basketball, then it’s because some of the actual hoops footage is decent, provided you ignore the fact that the crew and equipment can be seen in about a quarter of the shots. Otherwise, this is close to the nadir of faux-inspirational filmmaking—the story of an ex-con and former USC basketball star who returns home to win back his girl and make the final round of an international dunking competition, directed by the evangelical schlockmeister Timothy A. Chey (The Genius Club, Suing The Devil) in a style that is part student film, part 1940s cheapie. Its impossibly conflict-free hero, Michael Diggs, is played by Chris Staples, a former Harlem Globetrotter with zero acting ability and the vacuum-like presence of Being There’s Chauncey Gardiner. The most interesting thing about Staples is that he has his own name tattooed...

Nic Cage’s remake of Left Behind looks to have some divine competition in the form of Final: The Rapture. “Don’t Miss the Most Important Film of Your Life” might sound like the filmmakers are laying it on a bit thick...
...unless you consider the objective of their film is to render the audience born again scared.
Final: The Rapture is starting to make its way around the country theatrically, mostly Florida at the moment.
Judging by the trailer for Timothy A. Chey’s entry into the subgenre I’ve come to dub “Rapture Porn,” when the Rapture occurs, the human race will be divided into two groups: those that seemingly walk around aimlessly and those that join armed gangs of roving killers. Marantha News calls Final: The Rapture “The Scariest Christian Movie Ever,” for what’s that worth.
No, I have no clue what Marantha News is either.

Low-budget horror film Final: The Rapture, about the end times foretold in the Bible, is aiming to convert cinemagoers to God – through terrible dialogue and cheap effects
• Rick Santorum's Christmas movie proves flop
The Ten Commandments, The Passion of the Christ, the forthcoming Russell Crowe epic Noah – the Bible has long been a wellspring for filmmakers, who have also used a struggle between Christian good and evil in horror films from The Exorcist to Stigmata. But now Christianity and horror are being blended with pure evangelism in Final: The Rapture, a low-budget thriller that is – very slowly – sweeping the Us.
"We're trying to share this so their eyes will be opened … so people go home with hope," producer Susan Chey told the Orlando Sentinel, comparing it to a "Trojan horse" that would introduce people to faith. "The Christian community loves the film because they believe in the Book of Revelation,...

Looks like this has been confirmed to be Cuba Gooding Jr.'s next project; the titled we previously had (based on what my source told me) was Something Whispered (although I can't say if that's what it will eventually be called). Peter Cousens was listed as director from a script penned by Tim Chey. Set in 1850, the story centers on a man named Samuel (Gooding), who attempts to free his family from the brutality of institutionalized slavery, intent on escaping from the tobacco plantation they have been forced to call their home for two generations. Heading north towards Canada, via that network of secret routes and safe houses used by slaves in 19th...

Though this is billed as a trailer to the forthcoming Tim Chey film Suing the Devil it is more of an extended clip, and it sets up the film nicely. If your trailer needs are not being met I’ve included that below also. I do it because I love you.
Malcolm McDowell as the devil? Great casting, in my opinion and Tim Chey’s latest slice of Relitigious filmmaking (his previous films include Gone, in which a group of lawyers deal with the Rapture) gets a Us release on the 26th of August, over a year since its pemiere. Looks like a fun premise and here’s a matter of fact synopsis to ease you in,
