David Baddiel has revealed that, in his new documentary Jews Don’t Count, he apologises to former footballer Jason Lee for impersonating him in blackface in the Nineties.
Baddiel and fellow comic Frank Skinner once had a BBC show called Fantasy Football League, in which they ridiculed footballers.
Much of their mockery was directed at Lee, the Black Nottingham Forest player. Baddiel would portray Lee as dim-witted, with a pineapple on top of his head to imitate Lee’s hairstyle. Skinner would put on a strong Northern accent to portray Lee’s then-manager, Frank Clark.
At one point, Baddiel wore blackface when depicting Lee.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Thursday (17 November), Baddiel said: “I shamefully impersonated Jason Lee in blackface 25 years ago on Fantasy Football, and I felt that it was important, if I’m going to do a documentary about Jewish representation and minorities, that I should go...

The 1980 Italian cannibal exploitation movie "Cannibal Holocaust" has become the stuff of legend. It's a gruesome fake documentary that features some very real on-screen animal death and very convincing human kills. It was so convincing, in fact, that director Ruggero Deodato was arrested and charged with murder.
When "Cannibal Holocaust" came out in 1980, found footage horror wasn't really a thing yet. Cannibal films, a subgenre under the exploitation umbrella, were popular with many filmmakers because they allowed for lots of gore and cheap shooting locations in tropical locales.
Enter Deodato and his frequent collaborator, screenwriter Gianfranco Clerici.
Both had previously worked on the cannibal flick "Jungle Holocaust/Last Cannibal World," and they decided to take...

If I haven’t made it clear in previous articles or on social media, let me do so now: I’m a firm believer that Lucio Fulci is one of, if not the, greatest horror directors to ever live. While dismissed as a schlock artist by critics in his time, Fulci’s unique brand of horror, borne from a holy fusion of market-friendly gore and surrealist pure cinema, has aged remarkably well. But before he mingled among zombies or cracked open the gates of hell, Fulci directed a few violent giallo films, including the incredibly depressing Don’t Torture a Duckling, which recently received a new restoration and Blu-ray release from Arrow Video.
Don’t Torture a Duckling isn’t your usual giallo. While it has all of the signatures of the sub-genre—red herrings, black gloves, sexuality—the conventions and tropes are slightly skewed. Instead of taking place in...

Don’t Torture a Duckling
Blu-ray
Arrow Films
1972 / Color / 2:35 widescreen / Street Date October 2, 2017
Starring Barbara Bouchet, Florinda Bolkan, Tomas Milian, Irene Papas
Cinematography by Sergio D’Offizi
Written by Lucio Fulci, Roberto Gianviti, Gianfranco Clerici
Film Edited by Ornella Micheli
Produced by Renato Jaboni
Music by Riz Ortolani
Directed by Lucio Fulci
Lucio Fulci’s most consistent trait might have been his instability. In fact it may have been the Italian director’s defining quality; lingering throughout his films is the inescapable notion that, no matter how stylish or finely-tuned his mise en scene, he will surely find a way to fly off the rails and take everyone with him. He’s the crazy ex-girlfriend of filmmakers.
Fulci made his rep in the late 70’s and early 80’s with a series of crassly exploitative horror films, high on gore and low on logic. Nevertheless he began his career on...

Lucio Fulci is known to most horror fans for his work in the fantastical, through his late career success with Zombie (1979), City of The Living Dead (1980), and The Beyond (1981). Certainly these are his most widely seen and cherished films, and for good reason – they blast through the screen in a feast of color, magic, and grue; short on logic, sure, but long on imagination and dread. But before he untethered his heart in a quest for purity, he engaged in his homeland’s horror sub-genre of giallo, including Don’t Torture a Duckling (1972), incredible, subversive proof that he could create something just as effective and decidedly much more earth bound.
Released late September back home in his native Italy, Duckling never received its due (or much attention at all, truthfully) on these shores until Fulci’s death in 1996 offered a re-evaluation of his body of work. Thanks to the internet,...

Special Mention: Dressed To Kill
Directed by Brian De Palma
Written by Brian De Palma
1980, USA
Genre: Thriller
Brian De Palma’s films, like Tarantino’s, are a cinematic mash-up of influences from the past, and in De Palma case he borrows heavily from Alfred Hitchcock. Obsession is De Palma’s Vertigo, Blow Out his Rear Window, and with Dressed to Kill the director set its sights on Psycho. Dressed To Kill is more thriller than horror but what a stylish and twisted thriller it is! The highlight here is an amazing ten-minute chase sequence set in an art gallery and conducted entirely without dialogue. There are a number of other well-sustained set pieces including a race in the subway system and even, yes, a gratuitous shower murder sequence. Dressed To Kill features an excellent cast (Michael Caine, Nancy Allen, Angie Dickinson), a superb score (courtesy of Pino Donaggio) and...

As Deliver Us From Evil lands on disc in the UK, we look back at key lessons the movies teach us about possession...
The idea of demonic possession goes back thousands of years, to before we had film. Most religions carry their own interpretation of what it means for a person to be 'possessed' by a demon or a spirit and it's a complicated, arcane subject shrouded in mystery and ritual.
The Sumerians, thousands of years before Christ, believed all diseases were caused by 'sickness demons' and had their sorcerers attempt early exorcisms as cures. The Quran talks extensively of Jinn (demons) that can drive people to insanity and may only be expelled via worship. In the Bible, Satan and his demons are very much at large using human beings as vessels for devilish deeds. Jesus casts a whole bunch of them out before he's accused of being demon-possessed himself...

“I wonder who the real cannibals are…”
There have been many releases of Cannibal Holocaust throughout the years, on various formats, but this release, from Grindhouse Releasing in the United States, is, from what I’ve seen, the best yet, and features 3 discs, here, I’ll be looking at what is on those discs, and reviewing the film.
Now, this isn’t an easy task. Cannibal Holocaust has been spoken about, reviewed and studied by a vast number of people in the last 34 years with great amounts of research done into the making of the film and the events that followed its release. While I might not go into as much detail as some, I will still do my best to give my thoughts on the film and this specific set. This will only be my second time with the film, and the first time I will have seen it in over ten years.

In an odd turn of events, this list has a number of films that don’t have English-language titles. They just go by whatever the original title was. Good for us. What we do see in this portion of the list is a few movies that weren’t really created specifically to be horror films, but their themes and visuals made it so. In addition, we have some heavyweights of non-horror cinema creating horror films that push the genre all the more upward. “Thinking man horror,” if you will.
20. Le locataire (1976)
English Language Title: The Tenant
Directed by: Roman Polanski
Roman Polanski has made one of the greatest horror “trilogies” of all time with 1965′s British production Repulsion, 1968′s American production Rosemary’s Baby, and 1976′s French production The Tenant, completing his “Apartment Trilogy.” Unlike the other two, Polanski actually stars in The Tenant as Trelkovsky, a reserved man renting an apartment in Paris.

House On The Edge Of The Park
Stars: David Hess, Giovanni Lombardo Radice, Annie Belle, Christian Borromeo, Lorraine De Selle | Written by Gianfranco Clerici, Vincenzo Mannino | Directed by Ruggero Deodato
After helping a young couple fix their car, Alex (Hess) and his friend Ricky (Radice) are invited to an upscale house party where they are ridiculed by their debauched young hosts. Alex, psychopath that he is, decides that he, Alex and his straight edged razor deserve some fun. Together the pair take the presumably unprepared partygoers on a journey of rape, violence and debasement… Little do they know that their prey are not all they seem, and have a special surprise in store for the criminal duo.
Taking inspiration from Wes Craven’s Last House on the Left and starring David Hess, who played the villainous Krug in Craven’s movie, House on the Edge of the Park is widely...

Unfortunately I missed this awesome one-hour Visionaries panel at Comic-Con this year. The panel featured a discussion between Guillermo Del Toro and Jon Favreau. Thanks to /Film we have the entire conversation, which you can read below.
Question: How are you guys doing?
Guillermo Del Toro: Excrement!
[Everyone Laughs]
Question: How was the flight?
Guillermo Del Toro: It was painful, but I’m here. As I said earlier having a bulging… Having anything bulging after 40 is a hint of death.
Jon Favreau: I got an email from Guillermo a few days ago saying, “I don’t know if I’m going to be able to make it, I’m in pain.” And I said, “Oh my God,” the whole… part of the fun of being here and doing this is to be sitting next to this guy, because he has been an inspiration and a mentor and a friend...

Production company North Bank Entertainment has begun filming a sequel to the 1980 horror film The House on the Edge of the Park. Thirty years have passed since the distribution of the original and this second film involves similar characters from the previous release, with Ricky released from behind bars. He quickly reacquaints himself with a life of crime, as The Poet and Muriel talk tales of murder.
This sequel will be directed by the infamous septuagenarian director Ruggero Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust), with shooting taking place within Italy. London – A couple of idiots trying to outdo rock band U2, a 3D animated young barbarian with low self-esteem and a movie about four girls, three days, two cities and one chance are three titles from European shores vying for attention amid the hustle and bustle of this year's American Film Market.
The duo trying to outdo U2 are self-proclaimed idiots in Killing Bono, a movie that sees rising stars Ben Barnes and Robert Sheehan as hapless brothers Neil and Ivan McCormick who set up a band in Dublin, Ireland in the late 1970s.
Sadly for them, so did their classmates and rivals, who go on to become the global phenomenon U2. Based on a true story and grounded in Neil McCormack's book of the same name Stateside, the screenplay is written by British comedy writing royalty Dick Clement & Ian La Frenais alongside Simon Maxell. Noel Clarke steps into the director’s chair for the second time with 4.3.2.1, a fast and furious ensemble movie with plenty to enjoy…
Following the Twitter feed of Noel Clarke, the writer and co-director of 4.3.2.1, we were surprised to see him express his displeasure regarding a Q&A he did at the BFI a few weeks back. Our surprise wasn't aimed at him, though, rather the audience that turned up to question him, whom he described as 99% uninterested in what he had to say.
That's odd. Because, and 4.3.2.1 offers ample of proof of this, if you're a young filmmaker looking to make movies in the UK, Noel Clarke is absolutely one of the people you should be hunting down to talk to.
His new movie is precisely the kind of film that you wouldn't expect the British film industry to churn out. It's got more of the soul and beats of an American independent film,...

The Jonas brother's episode airs on May 23, before the two-hour live finale of "The Celebrity Apprentice." On "Minute," contestants take a shot at 10 "deceptively simple" games, each with a 60-second time limit, for the chance to win $1 million.

Jessica Simpson stopped by "Late Night With David Letterman" on Wednesday night and chatted a bit about her ex-beaus Tony Romo and John Mayer. And even when Letterman's questions got a bit personal, Simpson laughed off the interrogation and even dished a bit about her relationships with the two superstars.
"Tony is great, still a dear friend of mine," she told Letterman when she stopped by to promote her new show "The Price of Beauty." "My dad introduced us. I told you that we're big Dallas Cowboys fans. I'm still a fan. I still look at his cute butt in the outfits ... uniforms."

Chicago – Demetri Martin and Sarah Silverman are now back-to-back on Thursday nights on Comedy Central with “Important Things With Demetri Martin” and “The Sarah Silverman Program” and the two incredibly talented comedians make for a perfect fit as both shows have similar strengths and weaknesses.
Television Rating: 3.0/5.0
Why is it that I like Martin and love Silverman and yet I find their shows more “original” or “interesting” than straight-up funny? The fact is that both comedians are more talented than the overall quality of their individual shows. Neither show is anywhere near a waste of time and both season premieres feature moments where their star’s talents shine through, but both are also classic cases of hit-and-miss comedy with a few too many misses to unabashedly recommend.

As a Best Actress and Worst Actress nominee, Bullock continues on a divergent career path.
By Larry Carroll
Sandra Bullock
Photo: Mark Davis/Getty Images
For seven long years, she was the girl in that failed movie/ TV show that you vaguely recognized. In 1994, she took the bus ride from hell with Keanu Reeves and became America's new sweetheart. Now, after a decade and a half as the A-list star of various chick-flick hits, Sandra Bullock has begun a new stage of her career: Oscar nominee.
Oddly enough, Bullock's sweet success was made bitter by another distinction: a Razzie nomination for Worst Actress. Being simultaneously nominated as the best and worst at your job is something truly rare. Yet, for Bullock, such a dichotomy seems oddly appropriate.
"I could not begin to tell you about the plot of the movie, because we'd be here for one hour and 35 minutes. I literally can't.

Taylor Swift took to the stage on Friday for the "Hope for Haiti" telethon, and like many of the musicians on hand to help raise funds for the earthquake victims, she covered a song with appropriate sentiment for the event. However, while many of the performers chose more recognizable tunes like "Hallelujah," "Lean on Me" and "Let It Be," Swift chose to sing the Better Than Ezra tune "Breathless," off the band's 2005 album, Before the Robots.

More than 130 actors, musicians and athletes came together Friday (January 22) for MTV's "Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief." The star-studded telethon included performances by Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and Wyclef Jean and featured a celebrity panel of phone operators to answer donors' calls. Among them were young stars Selena Gomez and Kevin Jonas, who spoke with MTV News about volunteering for the event.
Gomez, the star of "Wizards of Waverly Place" and a Unicef ambassador, has been urging fans to donate since the 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Port-au- Prince last week. When Gomez was asked to participate in the telethon, there was no way she could say no.

A new sneak peek to Universal Pictures' upcoming movie "4.3.2.1" has been shared through an unofficial teaser trailer. Making its way out via 4.3.2.1 The Movie Facebook page, this uncensored video offers a glimpse of girl-on-girl make out scenes.
The snippet additionally gives a look at the movie's major characters, which are four young girls Joanne, Cassandra, Shannon and Kerrys. Though so, this more than three and a half minutes snippet fails to explain the storyline.
In this action thriller, 18-year-old Emma Roberts plays Joanne. She is joined by Tamsin Egerton, Ophelia Lovibond and Shanika Warren-Markland in the cast ensemble. The plot of the movie has yet to be disclosed, but the tagline on IMDb mentions, "4 Girls, 3 Days, 2 Cities, 1 Chance....." Coming from the directors of "Kidulthood" and "Adulthood", Noel Clarke and Mark Davis, "4.3.2.1" is expected to be released in May in U.K.

Emma Roberts has got involved with the wrong crowd in the upcoming feature film "4.3.2.1". Portraying a character named Joanne, she is seen among others giving a death threat to someone and holding up a gun warning to someone as two teaser trailers for the British crime thriller were put out.
One of the teasers is an official one, while the other brought into attention via the film's Facebook page is an unofficial and uncensored one. Both teasers do not really uncover what the movie is all about or give a hint on the plot. Nonetheless, it does give out first look at several characters, including the four main girls.

Just how big of a bump is Jenna Elfman sporting?
Husband Bodhi measures from back to front at Wednesday evening’s People’s Choice Awards, held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, Calif.
Although Jenna’s show Accidentally on Purpose lost out to Glee for favorite new TV comedy, the actress, 38, was still in a great mood at the awards show, sharing her fashion secrets with Us Weekly.
“This year, Alexander McQueen made all these great dresses that fit my pregnant body — and that’s good for my morale as a pregnant woman,” she joked.

Well, the countdown to 2010 is over and one of the films set to be released this year, in May 2010, is 4.3.2.1, the third film by maverick British filmmaker Noel Clarke, director of Kidulthood and Adulthood (the latter of which I only got to see on TV over the festive season. It’s not my usual cup of tea - admittedly I’m not quite the demographic for it – but I found it riveting enough all the same).
Filming of 4.3.2.1., which took place in London and New York, concluded in October of last year (wow, it sounds funny referring to 2009 as last year…) and is currently in post production. Apparently teaser trailers for the film were screened in UK cinemas over the holiday period, but I didn’t see any movies of this period, at least on in a cinema setting, and don’t know anyone who’s seen them thus far.

Well, it’s been seven years since Jason Voorhees chopped up foolish teens exclusively. Sure he shared screen time with Freddy Krueger in 2003’s crossover Freddy Vs Jason, yes he accumulated quite the body count in the film, yes it was a lot of fun, and yes the film was pretty damn successful, but diehard fans such as myself certainly missed that special “alone time” with Mr. Voorhees. Now Jason is back, solely stealing the spotlight and the lives of reckless youngins, and despite a mostly negative critical response and dismal box office staying power, he's still one massive murdering machine.
Over the last 29 years Jason has claimed more victims than even imaginable. From random teens, to strange drifters, to diner employees, Jason has eliminated just about everyone to (unluckily) grace the big screen with the masked menace. As a result of Voorhees’ obnoxious kill rate, fans have pondered the...
