Is the very first African American actress to win an Emmy award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Television Movie.
Retired from acting in 1995. Came out of retirement to appear in "First Sunday" (2008).
Ms. Cole is an honorary member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Attended Hunter College High School, Bard College in New York and then the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
Died just 31 days following the death of her ex-husband, actor
