“Have you no sense of decency, sir?” asked US Army chief counsel Joseph N Welch famously to Sen. Joe McCarthy in 1954 as anti-Communist fever continued to grip the nation. “At long last, have you left no sense of decency?” the lawyer added, shaming the opportunistic politician and turning the tide on the Second Red Scare.

GOP Rep. Mike Collins Praises Ole Miss Counter-Protesters Who Taunted Black Pro-Palestinian Activist
Counter-protesters mocked pro-Palestine demonstrators at the University of Mississippi. In footage posted online, white students were caught on video taunting a black protester. Rep. Mike Collins (R-Georgia) praised the white students’ actions.
“Ole Miss taking care of business,” Collins posted on X.
Viewers criticized the white students and Collins’ stance on the situation, calling him out for supporting “racist” actions. In the video, one white student made monkey noises and obscene gestures at a female black graduate student. Police escorted the student while the others taunted her.
University of Mississippi sociology professor James M. Thomas posted to X, “Students were calling for an end to genocide. They were met with racism.”
Separate footage also showed a crowd of about 200 people singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” over pro-Palestine chants. The students called for the end of Israel’s attacks on Gaza and for the United States to stop funding weapons. Some counter-protesters waved Trump 2024 flags.

Donald Trump defended comments he made last week where he said he wanted to be a dictator if re-elected but only on “Day One” in office.
Trump began by complaining that Peter Baker of The New York Times wrote an article referencing his comments. “[Peter] Baker today in the New York Times said that I want to be a dictator,” the former president said Saturday night at the New York Young Republican Club’s 111th Annual Gala. “I didn’t say that. I said I want to be a dictator for one day.

Pretty much the first thing Dan Slott says in our interview is, “I got to write Doctor Who fanfic and got paid for it!”
It’s a feeling that permeates not only our interview but the book Slott is here to talk about, a whopping 66-page special for Titan Comics called Once Upon A Time Lord. Slott seems like a kid who has been locked in the candy store by mistake and intends to scarf down as much candy as he can before someone notices.
But there has been no mistake—Dan Slott is one of the most respected and prolific comic writers working right now, with runs on the Fantastic Four, the Silver Surfer, and, most famously, Spider-Man behind him. Indeed, Slott’s runs include the epic “Spider-Verse” comic event that inspired the wildly successful ongoing movie trilogy.

Vernon Jones, a former Democratic state representative-turned Trump Republican, has been ordered by a federal judge to pay 45,000 to a man he blocked on Facebook, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Jones blocked Tomas Miko, a DeKalb County resident from Georgia, from his social media page after they swapped political opinions online in March 2020 while Jones was serving in the state legislature.
After the testy exchange, which the outlet says included comments on proposed immigration legislation sponsored by the former state lawmaker, Jones deleted Miko’s contrary posts.

The power of the Trump endorsement is waning and nowhere was it more apparent than last night’s Georgia Republican primary runoffs. The former president has struggled to translate his endorsements into victories for a GOP seeking electoral gains in the 2022 midterm elections. Trump’s endorsement has been a boon for some primary candidates — most notably J.D. Vance in Ohio — but it’s far from a golden ticket as the party works to find common ground between factions bitterly divided over the future of American conservatism.
In Georgia, Trump-backed candidates floundered in their runoff elections.

Discovery is blasting off with a special this summer in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon-landing, TheWrap has learned exclusively. Buzz Aldrin, Michael Collins and more astronauts from other Apollo missions are set to participate in the look-back at the July 20, 1969 touchdown.
As part of the project, Discovery will document the 115th annual Explorer’s Club dinner on March 16, when 10 veterans of the Apollo missions will be in attendance, also including Walt Cunningham of Apollo 7, Charlie Duke of Apollo 16, and more guests to be announced soon.
Private space-explorer Richard Garriott, the son of Skylab astronaut Owen Garriott, will conduct interviews and panel discussions with the former astronauts on their experiences beyond the stratosphere, as well as the future of privatized space flight.

The Defenders Season 1 hits Netflix on Friday, and I think we can safely say that there will be a Season 2, particularly since the next seasons of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist have already been announced. Early reviews of The Defenders are hitting Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, and the word is very positive overall. So, since it's never too early to speculate, let's talk about who should join the team going forward.
Marvel's The Defenders comic book debuted in 1971 by creator Roy Thomas. The team was initially made up of Dr. Strange, Namor, and The Hulk (who were soon joined by Valkyrie and Silver Surfer), and their early focus was very much in the Cosmic realm. In the team's first comic book arc, Dr. Strange teams with Sub-Mariner and the Hulk to protect the Earth from invasion by Lovecraftian interplanar beings known as the Undying Ones and their leader,...

Chicago – Some actors are so brilliantly in command of their abilities that their efforts are routinely taken for granted. Michael Cera’s utter failure to hit a single false note onscreen has led some to believe that he’s simply playing himself, as if playing oneself was somehow easy to begin with.
Cera’s comic persona is as impenetrable as Woody Allen’s. He embodies vulnerable neurotic teenage angst with an authenticity unmatched by any actor in recent years. His best lines are delivered under the breath and at odd angles, striking the funny bone with impeccable deadpan timing. After Hollywood tried (and failed) to turn him into a commercial commodity, with “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist” and the embarrassing “Year One,” it’s a relief to see Cera in a role that proves he has a range beyond the persona he has mastered.
DVD Rating: 4.0/5.0

Director Miguel Arteta would like to be known as the man who gives voice to awkward dorks everywhere. "Dorkiness is my realm in which I live, so I celebrate dorkiness," the director of "Chuck & Buck" and "Star Maps" says proudly. It's been eight years since Arteta's last film, "The Good Girl," which was honored by the National Board of Review. He's spent a lot of that time helming for TV, but his newest feature, "Youth in Revolt," is worth the wait. Actor Michael Cera has never been better as Nick Twisp, a 16-year-old desperate to lose his virginity to the girl of his dreams. That might sound like the pithy premise of a "Road Trip"– or "American Pie"–type jock fest, but "Youth in Revolt" has the substance to back it up, thanks to C.D. Payne's original novel. Cera's character creates an alter ego reminiscent of Tyler Durden in...

- Space missions aren't what they once were - back during the Apollo missions, an astronaut for Nasa was up there with cops and firemen as prime choices of "what I want to be when I grow up" professions for little boys. Th!NKFilm acquired all North American rights to In the Shadow of the Moon. Preeming in the World docu comp at Sundance, David Sington uses never-before-seen footage and images that were taken between 1968 and 1972, nine American spacecraft voyaged to the Moon, and 12 men walked upon its surface. They remain the only human beings to have stood on another world. “In the Shadow of the Moon” brings together for the first, and very possibly the last, time surviving crew members from every single Apollo mission which flew to the Moon, and allows them to tell their story in their own words. This riveting first-hand testimony is interwoven with visually
