Steve Collins and Chris Eubank recall their 1995 super-middleweight world title clash, and its odd details, with intelligence and honesty
Here is a boxing documentary that is a cut above the usual back-slapping nostalgia – largely down to the canny, vivid presences of its two central figures, Steve Collins and Chris Eubank. Collins, of course, was the Irish fighter who psyched out a hitherto-dominant Eubank in their super-middleweight world title fight in 1995 to pull off a major shock – though possibly less of a shock than it might have been made out, as Collins was already a world title holder at middleweight.
Both Collins and Eubank come across well: intelligent, honest and able to comment with the benefit of perspective on what they brought to the encounter. Eubank, particularly, has retained his dignity in defeat – even if the archive shots of him preparing for the ring walk astride an idling motorbike as Tina Turner...

Oak View Group, the global venue developer/investor co-founded by Irving Azoff and run by Tim Leiweke, is building a new $3 billion entertainment district in Las Vegas on 25 acres including an 850,000 square foot arena, amphitheater, casino and hotel.
The 20,000+-seat arena will have suites, premium hospitality clubs and host live events including concerts, sporting events, family entertainment, as well as conventions, award shows and international gatherings. Construction — with a focus on the prioritization of technology, sustainability, and green initiatives — is expected to create thousands of permanent and temporary local jobs.
“It doesn’t get much bigger or better than Las Vegas,” said Azoff, calling the development “the next jewel in the Ovg crown.”
The firm’s projects include the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle; the Ubs Arena in New York; and the soon-to-open Moody Center arena at the University of Texas in Austin.
Groundbreaking is expected in 2023 for the Vegas complex, located on 66.5 acres of land near the intersection of two major freeways, I-15 and I-215.
“South of the Las Vegas strip represents one of the few areas of potential future growth of the gaming and entertainment corridor,” said Oak View Group CEO Leiweke. He called the project “an industry game-changer” that will “usher in the evolution of Las Vegas as the new entertainment and sports capital of the world.”
Marc Badain, a veteran sports industry executive and former president of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, has partnered with Ovg to spearhead and consult on the new project along with the President of Business Development, Francesca Bodie, who will oversee business transactions and operations. Development on what will be Ovg’s biggest project to date will be led by Steve Collins, its president of global venue development and special projects.
The complex is designed by architecture firms Gensler and Populous.
Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak said the new entertainment district “will help continue the state’s economic momentum and create thousands of jobs and greater prosperity for Nevadans.”
The development is adjacent to the planned Brightline high-speed rail station on that site that Ovg, citing estimates, said more than 13 million vehicles coming from California pass every year. The site will be a 15-minute drive to and from all major Las Vegas Strip resorts and the airport.
Ovg’s other upcoming projects include the Acrisure Arena in Coachella Valley; Arena São Paulo in Brazil; Baltimore Arena; FirstOntario Centre Arena; the New Arena at the Atlantic Wharf in Cardiff, Wales; and Co-op Live arena located in Manchester, which when completed in 2023, will be the largest arena in the UK.

Simon Rumley (director of Red, White & Blue, Fashionista & Crowhurst) has begun a six week shoot on the brutal gangster thriller Once Upon a Time in London – for Gateway Films – which dramatises the violent reign of two of London’s most notorious gangsters, Billy Hill (Leo Gregory) and Jack ‘Spot’ Comer (Terry Stone), charting the legendary rise and fall of a nationwide criminal empire that lasted until the mid-fifties and which paved the way for the notorious Kray Twins and The Richardsons.
Director and co-writer Simon Rumley commented:
Having spent the last decade or so writing and directing thematically disparate but collectively extreme dramas, it makes absolute sense for me to progress to the gangster genre where love, lust, greed, paranoia, betrayal and violence are every day occurrences. The story of Jack Spot Comer, Billy Hill and their respective battles to become King of London’s Underworld has remained one of Britain’s most dynamic,...

To label The Time of Their Lives as a flawed endeavour would be something of an understatement, and yet there’s a hesitancy to be overly critical, for this Roger Goldby endeavour represents a unique cinematic experience; as one that features elderly women in the leading roles, and allows actresses nuanced, layered characters to delve into – which should be celebrated, regardless of the fact we’re dealing with a melodrama that makes Dynasty feel like it had been directed by Ken Loach.
Talking of the aforementioned soap opera, Joan Collins takes on the leading role of Helen, a former movie star, now without any of the money she once owned, but with equal amount of style and grace. Struggling to come to terms with her has-been status, she is thrilled to encounter a fan, the timid Priscilla (Pauline Collins), who appears to have had all of her...

Remakes have been a big part of the film industry ever since the silent era. As part of our ongoing series, Cinelinx looks at the remake of a beloved classic kid’s film to see how it compares to the original. This week, we look at Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) on its tenth anniversary.
In the last article, we talked about how the choice of actors can improve a remake. Sometimes it’s not even a question of a good actor or a bad actor. It’s about the right actor, and the choices he/she makes in the role. In this week’s article, we focus on how the wrong actor can spoil a remake.
Ronald Dahl’s 1964 children’s book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” is the tale of a poor boy named Charlie who is one of several kids to win a golden...

Goyer and Phantom Four president Kevin Turen will produce alongside A24 and Daniels, while Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski are writing the screenplay.
Munden also directed UK mini-series The Crimson Petal And The White and is set to direct the sci-fi thriller script Aether for FilmNation.

The DC Universe Animated Original Movies line has delivered some absolutely terrific comic book adaptations (Jay Oliva’s two-part Batman: The Dark Knight Returns comes to mind), and also some thoroughly mediocre ones (like most of the Superman entries). It’s impressive how much work goes into animating these direct-to-video titles, but a fair share of them have been unfortunately sidetracked by stilted voice acting and weak writing.
Son of Batman, which loosely adapts Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert’s “Batman and Son” arc, is far from the worst of the Dcu Animated titles, though that’s probably the highest praise I can give it. While the animation is damn-near flawless, and the voice acting is mostly above average, this tonally dissonant offering ends up taking on more story than it can handle.
