We salute 10 memorable guest roles on Stargate Sg-1, featuring Seth, The Keeper and more...
As with our previous features, this is a list designed to celebrate the very best performances by guest actors in Stargate Sg-1. However, we did come across a couple of challenges in compiling the list for this particular series. We’ve defined ‘guest performance’ as an actor playing a character who is not a regular or recurring character – so the actor must have played the character no more than twice in this particular series (though they may have appeared more often in other branches of the franchise). Stargate Sg-1 liked to re-use its best guest characters as often as possible, frequently bringing back characters like Claudia Black’s Vala Mal Doran after what was initially a one-off appearance, which is great as the audience get to enjoy them again, but seriously reduces the number of eligible performances.

Richard III feat. Martin Freeman is a vigorous, brutal, and accessible retelling of Shakespeare’s tale of political villainy…
The world loves a bastard. Will it, though, love one whose legendary wickedness is played for laughs and not venom? Martin Freeman’s taut performance as Richard III in a new Trafalgar Studios production wrings cruel humour from the play’s every pun and pause. Freeman jerks his head, and the audience laughs. He raises his eyebrows, and we laugh. He commits murder, shrugs it off, and we laugh. Who knew fifteenth century crown politics could be such a riot?
Jamie Lloyd’s play sets Shakespeare’s lurid account of Richard III’s rapid ascent to “the supreme seat” against the backdrop of the 1979 English winter of discontent. The idea, apt pun aside, is to evoke political instability and bring to mind the behind-the-scenes machinations that unseat power.

Today we were pointed over to a website, which has some very interesting news regarding Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. Video Watchblog writes, "In today's mailbox, an interesting letter from reader Simon Coombs of London, England, alerting me to the fact that a pre-us-censor cut of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho has been shown on the German television station Rtl. Simon included this link to a German video site where Universal's most recent DVD issue of Psycho was reviewed in tandem with a list of scenes missing from this current version, illustrated with grabs from the Rtl broadcast. Hopefully the right people at Universal can be made aware of this missing footage and ensure that it is restored to their reportedly forthcoming two-disc remastered edition, which only then could be called a true "director's cut.""...
