Though the franchise has successfully curbed this issue in recent movies, the McU’s often been said to have a problem with disposable villains. Those bad guys that are quickly set up as dark mirrors to the hero, don’t make too much of an impression and then are swiftly dealt with by the end credits. Despite Corey Stoll turning in a good performance, Ant-Man‘s Darren Cross Aka Yellowjacket is one such villain.
Director Peyton Reed doesn’t agree with the idea of describing Yellowjacket as “disposable,” though. Mainly because he’s not sure that Cross was actually disposed of. In an Honest Reactions video for Screen Junkies – in which movie directors give a commentary on an Honest Trailer about their work – Reed called out Sj for their criticism of the villain. In the process, he hinted that Yellowjacket might still be alive.
“Well, I mean, you guys are making a massive assumption.

It doesn’t come as too much of a shock, then, that the character’s not going to return in Ant-Man and the Wasp. While visiting the set of the upcoming sequel, Screen Rant caught up with the movie’s specialty costumes supervisor Ivo Coveney. He revealed to the outlet that he was pretty certain that Cross wouldn’t be showing his face in the film, though he didn’t rule out a potential second appearance down the line.

Fans were excited by the post-credits scene of Ant-Man as it revealed that Hope Van Dyne would finally be suiting up as the Wasp in the upcoming sequel. When the first images from production on Ant-Man and the Wasp arrived online, though, many were disappointed that the costume had been redesigned for the movie, with the colors of the outfit glimpsed in Ant-Man being toned down and washed out.
It turns out there’s a very pragmatic reason for the changes to the Wasp’s suit, though. Screen Rant visited the Ant-Man 2 set recently and spoke to Ivo Coveney, who served as Specialty Costumes Supervisor. He revealed that the first version we saw was more a prop than a costume and not properly designed to be worn. With Evangeline Lilly needing to do a lot of action in the outfit in this film, that precipitated the need for it to be altered.

While comic book purists are generally hard to please, the comic-inspired costume that Paul Rudd wears in the upcoming Ant-Man seems to be controversy-free. However, some notable critics regarding the unitards.s utilitarian value happen to be the people who created the getup. Apparently, a gaping, potentially fatal flaw was left in the design for the sake of aesthetics for the would-be Avengers team member. So what happened? In an interview featured in the latest issue of Empire, costume designers Sammy Sheldon and Ivo Coveney discuss the loosely-based logistics behind the Ant-Man suit worn by Rudd.s Scott Lang. Adhering to realism in one sense, the suit is designed to be self-contained, since oxygen molecules would be too large to breathe for a shrunken superhero. However, that aspect also takes form with two crucial cables jutting out the side of his helmet. As Coveney comments: We had a long discussion...

Costume designers Sammy Sheldon and Ivo Coveney revealed a few new tidbits of information about Paul Rudd's Ant-Man suit in the latest issue of Empire. The duo told the magazine that they were still working on the costume during filming for the Marvel movie, and Sheldon went on to explain why Scott Lang needs to wear a helmet as Ant-Man. When you shrink, the molecules in the air are too big for your lungs. He has to be fully contained or he'd die. Scott Lang's...

Suit designers Sammy Sheldon and Ivo Coveney have been on board Ant-Man since Edgar Wright was attached to direct, and it's revealed in the latest issue of Empire Magazine that they were still working on the suit during shooting. Why exactly does Scott Lang need to wear that helmet though? "When you shrink, the molecules in the air are too big for your lungs," Sheldon explains. "He has to be fully contained or he'd die." That means we can probably count out seeing a tiny Paul Rudd running around the place then as the shrinking action will clearly be restricted to when he's in the suit. As a result, it's probably best to forget this scene being recreated in the McU! There's still no word on whether or not Pym Particles are going to make it into Ant-Man, but the magazine notes that "mysterious chemicals" are sent around Scott's body via tubing.
