Lives with her longtime companion Michael Helfrich and their daughter Lina Carlotta (born September 2001) in
Berlin.
Supports the organization "Sternipark e.V.", helping women who want to
give birth anonymously.
When she was offered a role in Und tschüss! (1995), she abandoned her studies at
the Free University Berlin.
Gesine and Gesina are Dutch and German diminutives of Gertrud.
