- Buck-toothed, bowler-hatted, gurgly voiced British stand-up comedian, with music hall and radio experience. Invariably played slow-witted country yokels and was billed in one of his acts as 'The Professional Idiot'. Toured in Australia with Edward Branscombe's Dandies between 1910 and 1917. After making his first two films in Australia, became a familiar comic foil in British productions of the 1930's.
