- John Davenport was born in 1908. He was a writer, known for Hotel Reserve (1944), Great Day (1945) and Shades of Gray (1948). He died on June 27, 1966 in Worthing, West Sussex, England, UK.
- Better known as a poet and literary critic than for his film work, John Davnport was, for many years, the literary editor of "The Observer" newspaper in London, and co-author with his friend Dylan Thomas of a famous satirical novel, "The Death Of The King's Canary". This was written during World War II, but not published until long after both men were dead.
