Former Mark Meadows aide Cassidy Hutchinson testified before the Jan. 6 committee on Tuesday that on Jan. 6, President Trump insisted that security measures be taken down at his Ellipse rally in order to boost the size of the crowd, arguing that people carrying weapons were “not here to hurt me.”
Hutchinson said she overheard Trump say something to the effect of, “‘I don’t fucking care that they have weapons. They’re not here to hurt me. Take the fucking [magnometers] away. Let my people in. They can march to the Capitol from here.

CNN's New Day morning show apologized for a breaking news tweet sent to its 55,000 followers on Friday that incorrectly stated that Brazilian soccer legend Pele had died at age 74. The tweet was deleted (not before Circa editor-in-chief Anthony De Rosa flagged the item, seen below) and the account subsequently sent two tweets noting that Pele's rep had stated that he was "alive and very well." A CNN spokesperson tells THR that the breaking news tweet was not the result of a hack. CNN inaccurately declares Brazilian soccer legend Pele dead pic.twitter.com/H2tjM36xnq —

Are you ready for Bourdain Mania? Foul-mouthed foodie Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" is back for it's eighth season (premieres Mon., Apr., 9, 9 p.m. Et on Travel Channel), but the week of Bourdain doesn't stop there -- he's also interviewed for an episode of "Inside Mma," all about his wife's mixed martial arts training (Mon., Apr. , 8 p.m. Et on HDNet) and he's showing off his classic movie knowledge as guest programmer on Turner Classic Movies with Robert Osborne (Tues., Apr. 10 on TCM).
So yeah, he's been a little busy. "It's like, way too much me," Bourdain told HuffPost TV via phone with a laugh.
In fact, when we caught up to chat last week, he had just landed from a trip that sounded pretty fantastic. "I just got back from Burgundy with Ludo Lefebvre," Bourdain said. "We did a sort of a 'Ludo goes home to his roots, much Burgundy consumed' theme show.

Reuters has launched ReutersTV, a new YouTube channel that will cover hard news, finance, politics and technology, the company announced Tuesday. The new channel is part of YouTube’s programming initiative, announced in October of 2011, which unites YouTube and almost 100 partners to create Internet-based programming. Reuters, with which TheWrap has a content syndication partnership, is the biggest news provider of YouTube's partners. Among the 10 shows that will air are “Felix TV,” featuring finance blogger Felix Salmon, “Tech Tonic,” hosted by social media editor Anthony De Rosa and “Fast Forward” a show...

Warning: walking while reading one's smart phone can be hazardous to your health. Tuesday night on my way home from the SXSW Awards party on Austin's dark and crowded 6th Street, I tripped and split my lip on the sidewalk, gushing blood. My BlackBerry was unharmed. I hailed a pedicab to the local ER, where I needed no stitches, but looked like someone had punched me in the face. Just the day before I had been furiously tweeting Nyt media columnist David Carr's Interactive panel I'm So Productive, I Never Get Anything Done, for which he rounded up panelists Anthony De Rosa (product manager at Reuters, founder of SoupSoup and Neighborhoodr.com), L.A.'s Molly McAleer (memoir blog MollsSheWrote) and Ta-Nehisi Coates (senior editor/blogger at The Atlantic) ...

The battle over the legality and ethics of news aggregation has been heating up all week. This morning we collected all of the punches thrown in the massive fight on Twitter between four journalists that went on yesterday afternoon. That all appeared to end amicably enough, with the main combatants, Nicholas Carlson and Anthony De Rosa, seemingly laughing about it this morning. Unfortunately though, the other fight on the subject, the one between The Wrap's Sharon Waxman and Michael Wolff of Newser, has not ended nearly as well.

In real estate, it's the most important variable in the equation; in 2010, it's become the topic that seems to be everywhere. Everyone seems to be trying to integrate location-based aspects into their applications these days, but hyper-local has been around for nearly a decade. It's not a new topic; it's just one that has taken hold more so than ever before, driven by hardware and technology finally catching up to truly make location accurate and useful. The cool kids are Gowalla and Foursquare, contenders of this year's SXSWi Geowars, but they have some elephants in the room that could squash them like bugs at any moment -- namely Facebook, Google and Twitter.
Being bigger, however, doesn't necessarily give the behemoths of the tech world an advantage. You still need to convince a built-in audience that you've got something compelling and useful enough to use on a regular basis. Google's Latitude failed to attract a loyal,...

Day one at SXSW Interactive ended with a bang or, more precisely, a fire alarm, which presumably was a result of the heated exchange between Boxee's Avner Ronen and Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, and the man who made millions selling Broadcast.com, an internet-based media delivery system. The medium made him a rich man, but today he's skeptical about its legitimacy as a business.
About 20 minutes into the debate, the alarms went off and the entire Austin Convention Center was evacuated. 20 minutes later, everyone was let back in and the talk continued. Ronen had the room stacked with tech-savvy people, many who have already cut the cable cord. The crowd had grown jaded from years of paying extravagantly for hundreds of channels in order to watch the few they actually want, rather than going with the a la carte cart model being pushed by Avner's Boxee.

With four to five or more events happening at one time, at all times, choosing which direction to take can be a daunting task at SXSW Interactive, the portion of the festival devoted to all thing internet. There are plenty of tools to choose from to keep track of what's available -- the main SXSW.com website, Plancast, Sched, and SitBy.us. If you're the fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type and want to follow the crowd, you can always check which panel your friends are at by logging into Foursquare or Gowalla, or do a Twitter search to see which panels are trending.
Personally, I prefer to go in with a basic idea of what I want to cover at a bare minimum, and that includes more than just panels. I want to have a list of some places I must eat at that I know will be nearby, which events and parties...
