Manchester United’s veteran manager Sir Alex Ferguson has labelled Newcastle United “a wee club” in the wake of Alan Pardew’s criticism of his fellow manager’s behaviour during the two sides’ Premier League encounter on Boxing Day.
Pardew claimed Ferguson “should have been punished” for remonstrating (and occasionally berating) Mike Dean and his assistants during the clash at Old Trafford. Ferguson was riled by a decision by Mike Dean to overrule an offside decision made by his linesman and award Newcastle a second goal after Jonny Evans had just equalized for the hosts before prodding into his own net.
After the game, Pardew criticised the conduct of his fellow manager, as quoted by Espn:
“I think Mike Dean might feel slightly disappointed he didn’t do something about it. I think the pressure that was on him was tough for a referee to take.

It is common knowledge that to be a goalkeeper in professional football (or for that matter, any level of football) you need to hold one of the following three attributes; craziness, stupidity, or a sheer disregard for your physical and mental health. The pressures that come with the modern game are amplified when you look at a goalkeeper’s role – one mistake, and you may just have cost your team the biggest match in it’s history… or, made a complete fool of yourself.
Why, it was just last season that my own team, Cardiff City, of the Npower Championship were playing at the Boleyn Ground, home of West Ham United. West Ham’s goalkeeper that day? Robert Green. The same Robert Green that the summer before had let the Jabulani bounce off his palms and roll into the net in England’s opening fixture of the 2010 World Cup. Of course,...

Arsenal line up against Sir Alex’s Man United at Old Trafford in the early kick-off looking to avenge last season’s embarrassing 8-2 loss, as well as hoping that summer departure Robin Van Persie fails to pack his shooting boots in his first match against his former club. Rather worryingly for Arsenal, United have scored a massive 13 goals in their four home games so far this season, and the Gunners conspired to allow Reading to score 5 goals midweek, so we can perhaps expect another high-scoring game.
Arsene Wenger has asked for respect to be shown to Robin Van Persie ahead of the game from the travelling Arsenal fans, to show their appreciation of his eight years in North London. Something tells me the suggestion might be ignored if the Dutchman fires in a goal or two…

Kanye West and Jay-z's "No Church in the Wild" has already appeared in one buzzed-about clip, but now the Watch the Throne track has its very own visuals.
The rap duo released the video for the song on Tuesday. Romain Gavras, who directed the video for M.I.A.'s "Born Free" (which is similar in style to the video below), Justice's "Civilization" and a host of other electro-inflected tracks, helmed the visuals.
The video opens with a young man throwing a molotov cocktail at police. An urban battle ensues, with police viciously beating protestors. Eventually, the crowd sets a police car on fire and drives it through some officers. Then lasers appear!
The Occupy Wall St. parallels seem almost too obvious to mention, though they are of interest because Jay was caught in a public relations scandal when it became known that the "Occupy All Streets" t-shirts his clothing company were...

Jay-z and Kanye West’s Watch The Throne record was one of the most successful records of 2011, going platinum and spawning one of the biggest and most talked about tours of last fall. As neither West nor Jay-z are one to shy away from something that both makes money and garners them a bit more hype, the duo are reportedly working on a follow-up record. As of now, not much is known about the record, except that it probably exists. Producer Mike Dean, who’s worked extensively with West, talked to Quiet Lunch magazine (“Cerebral Sustenance Daily for the ...

Jay-z and Kanye West will re-team for a sequel to Watch The Throne. According to Mike Dean, a veteran producer who worked on the first collaboration album, rap's royalty will go back into the studio together.
"I'm working on the G.O.O.D. Music album, of course," Dean told Quiet Lunch. "And Watch The Throne 2 -- it's not started yet, but it's coming."
Jay had already raised the possibility of a second Throne album, telling MTV in December that he and West were "in a great place creatively." In that interview, he said the second disc could drop in 2012.
As for the G.O.O.D. Music compilation Dean is working on first? Expect that record to be a vision statement for West and his labelmates (Big Sean, Pusha-t and a host of other artists are expected to appear).

Queens Park Rangers captain Joey Barton has been given a 12-match suspension and a £75,000 fine for his behaviour in the game against Manchester City on the final day of the Premier League campaign.
Referee Mike Dean showed Barton a red card after the Qpr captain elbowed Manchester City’s striker Carlos Tevez. The incident alone meant that the midfielder would receive a four-match ban due to this being his second red card in the 2011/12 season. Barton was then seen kicking Sergio Aguero and later attempting to head-butting Vincent Kompany, an allegation which he later denied.
War of Words
The former Newcastle and Man City midfielder was adamant that it wasn’t a red card offence after claiming Tevez throw the first punch. Barton admitted on Twitter after the game that he took matters into his own hands and in his eyes he tried to ‘even the situation’.

G.O.O.D. Music producer Mike Dean 'was bumpin' us before we got hot. Why stop now?' A$AP Rocky says on 'RapFix Live.'

When A$AP Rocky broke through last year with "Purple Swag," he didn't exactly scream NYC. Instead of producing a more-recognized New York sound, Rocky and his A$AP Mob drew from Southern influences. Rock's slowed-down, syrup-drench swag was more Houston than Harlem — then again, that was part of its appeal. Still, Rocky's crew has had its share of critics — most recently, a veteran dirty South producer.

The line-ups are in for today’s 3pm Premier League match between Wigan and Newcastle United at the Dw Stadium, a crucial match at both ends of the Premier League. Wigan are fighting for their lives at the foot of the table whilst Newcastle are hoping to finish well and extend their incredible unbeaten run to give them a chance of a Champions League finish.
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has named the same side that defeated Stoke so convincingly 3-0 last weekend with the familiar line-up of Hatem Ben Arfa, Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba as part of a three-man attack. The bench also looks the same with Shola Ameobi and Leon Best offering more attacking options and utility men Ryan Taylor and James Perch also present.
For Wigan, striker Hugo Rodallega has made the bench after being missing for weeks. Albert Crusat also makes the bench with Franco Disanto declared fit to start.

With Manchester City having not lost a home game since February, they were looking to surpass close rivals Manchester United and become the first team to be undefeated at home for 20 games. Chelsea on the other hand have been incredibly inconsistent in all competitions this season, yet the addition of a new manager is suggesting signs of recovery for the London club. It was difficult to predict how this game would go, Chelsea having 10 wins over the blue side of Manchester which have only managed 3 wins in this fixture. Chelsea starting eleven seemed to show a new approach with Drogba placed on the bench in exchange for Spaniard Fernando Torres. The major news for the game was disloyal Carlos Tevez started on the bench for the home side.
The home team started the strongest in the match with the first real chance falling to David Silva who missed the target.

All samples cleared! TMZ reports that Jay-z and Kanye West have settled a federal lawsuit in which soul singer Syl Johnson claimed that Jay and Kanye illegally lifted a portion of his 1967 record "Different Strokes" for "The Joy," off of their Watch the Throne album.
"The Joy," which was produced by Pete Rock with West, Mike Dean and Jeff Bhasker listed as co-producers, first surfaced in 2010 as a free digital download as part of Yeezy's G.O.O.D. Fridays viral campaign.
The suit claimed that 'Ye attempted to clear the "Different Strokes" sample for his Grammy Award-winning My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy but couldn't get the necessary agreement in place before releasing his LP.

Team news ahead of Liverpool’s trip to the Stadium of Light tonight for the 3pm Premier League kick-off against Sunderland. The match is not being screened live anywhere in the UK.
Sunderland will be without duo Lee Cattermole and Stephane Sessegnon who were both sent off in the heated Tyne/Wear derby last Sunday. Cattermole will be missing for four games having collated ten yellow cards and a red card for speaking out against referee Mike Dean after the final whistle had gone. For Sessegnon, he will miss three games after picking up a straight red for elbowing Cheick Tiote in that game.
Those key players will be a big loss for the Black Cats who may also be without Kieran Richardson who is nursing a calf injury. On loan Manchester City leftback Wayne Bridge is on stand by having replaced Richardson last week.

West Bromwich Albion welcome Norwich City to the Hawthorns this afternoon on the back of a 4-2 win over Cardiff in the Fa Cup, but with just one point from their last three Premier League outings (though it was against Manchester City). Norwich too despatched Championship opposition in the cup – recording a comfortable 4-1 win over Burnley at Carrow Road. Many are expecting them to start slipping any time now – ‘doing a Blackpool’ seems to be the official expression for any team that dares to still be punching above their weight at Christmas nowadays, and we all know what happened there. Canaries fans will know though that their side have yet to experience any real torrid times under maestro Paul Lambert.
So how will the game go this afternoon? Well, the Baggies got the better of the Canaries last time out – seeing out a 1-0 win courtesy of a Peter Odemwingie goal.

Andre Villas-Boas will be very happy with his side as they rose to see off a brave Newcastle team thanks to a first half Didier Drogba header and late goals from Salomon Kalou and Daniel Sturridge.
It was an emotional day on Tyneside following the death of former player Gary Speed and the Welshman was remembered with a minutes applause before the match. John Carver, the Newcastle coach and close friend of Speed, was visibly very upset during the tribute and had to be consoled by fourth official Mark Halsey.
The match got off to a contentious start when David Luiz was only booked for clumsily bringing down Demba Ba and denying the Newcastle front man a clear goalscoring opportunity after just four minutes.
Luiz was then in trouble again after a heavy touch on the edge of his own area allowed Ba to win possession but John Terry was there to clear up.

Coming in to the 6th annual Bet Hip Hop Awards, Cash Money emcee Lil Wayne was leading the pack with 18 nominations, absolutely smothering the competition in just about every category. Though not an overwhelming number, Wayne did walk away with five wins, including three for his role in Chris Brown's smash "Look at Me Now".
Overall, the awards were pretty spread out, with Brown, Wayne, Busta Rhymes, Nicki Minaj, Wiz Khalifa, and producer Lex Luger all pulling down multiple wins. Additional wins went to Jay-z, Hype Williams, J. Cole, Waka Flocka Flame, DJ Khaled, and Kanye West.

A positive to take out of the game for Blues boss Andre Villa-Boas was that Fernando Torres scored and looked a threat throughout the game. What a week its been for music superstar Lil Wayne. After finding out that his latest album, Tha Carter IV, sold nearly a million copies in its first week of release, the Cash Money rapper has been nominated for a record 18 (!) Bet Hip-Hop Awards, doubling his nearest competition. Wayne scored nominations in Live Performer, Lyricist, Mvp, Style, Verse, Hustler, two in Video, two in Club Banger, two in Viewer's Choice, three in Collab, and three in Track. Just last week, he closed out the VMAs with a performance of his top 5 single "How to Love".

Since Kanye West first announced Watch the Throne on Twitter in August 2010, the tag-team LP with Jay-z had been shrouded in mystery. In the months leading up to the album's August 8, 2011 release, details remained sketchy. There was no loaded press run, super radio push, music video or album leaks leading up to the drop. In fact, "H.A.M" and "Otis" were the only songs released to the general public; beyond that there was nothing.
A few were in the know, like Def Jam VP of A&R Bu Thiam who, was there throughout the recording process and helped Hov and Yeezy achieve their sonic goal. "As an A&R it's a process of trying to bring out the artist's creative ideas and their visions,...

This is Mixtape Daily, so you know the deal: We spotlight the essence of street culture. And when it comes to those behind the boards, it gets no truer than producers who know how to dig in the crates and find a dusty sample that will inject life into a new composition.
These four guys reached deep down, far and wide, to the nether regions of their musical minds to create bangers that became the soundtrack of the past 12 months. Without further ado, we close out our year-end awards by saluting the Top Producers of 2010:

From its debut at the VMAs to its accompanying short film, everything about this Top 25 Song made our jaws drop.

For a song that landed at #2 on MTV News' Top 25 Songs of 2010, Kanye West's "Runaway" starts awfully humbly. It will be best remembered for the epic short film that accompanied it or the jaw-dropping debut it made at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. (Or perhaps it will be noted for its four-minute Auto-Tune freestyle that caps off the album version.)
But for all that sweep and bluster, "Runaway" kicks off with a single tap of a piano key, kicking off one of the most epic, jaw-dropping, honest and thrilling pieces of music to hit the popular airwaves all year. Those single notes slowly start to string together and give way to the drums, which are all low rumbles and twitches. A...

Kanye West's new album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, is a return to form of sorts for the mercurial star on the most basic of levels — as a producer and an Mc — following a departure with his last project, 2008's 808s & Heartbreak, a soul-baring effort soaked in personal pain and filtered through AutoTune.
With My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, the Chicago artist injects who he once was — a hyperactive musician, moody celebrity and gifted rapper — with the imprints of who he has become after his seclusion and re-emergence following the infamous Taylor Swift incident: an unwavering talent tarnished by controversy but resurgent in his refusal to be defined by anything other than himself.
The set, Kanye's fifth studio album, is an arrogant, remorseful, refreshing probe of perhaps the most complicated figure in pop culture today.
