Netflix has just released the Indian production “Mrs. Serial Killer”. The film directed by Shirish Kunder is a mixture between horror thriller and horror satire.
Sona (Jacqueline Feranndez) is married to a successful gynecologist. They live in a big house and are expecting a child. When her husband Mrityunjoy (Manoj Bajpayee), in short Joy, comes home after a business trip, he is directly arrested at the airport. The policemen are sure that they finally have caught the serial killer who brutally murders and buries young women. Joy claimes his innocence and Sona believes him. She wants to do everything she can to exonerate him. To do so, she seeks advice from the criminal lawyer Mr. Rastogi (Darshan Jariwala), who, then, suggests a radical solution.
The evidence seems to be clear; DNA-samples, the location and murder techniques speak for Joy as the perpetrator. However, both the lawyer and Sona suspect that the investigator in the case,...

Seeing some of the scathing reviews for Sarbjit I was tempted to fish out the early reviews of a film released in 1975 which was condemned by critics for being “loud” , “brash”, “plotless” and “over-dramatic”.
That film was Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay.
Sarjbit is no Sholay. Thankfully. But I firmly believe its forceful message on prisoners of politics and its persuasive emotional velocity in the scenes showing the imprisoned man’s sister’s and wife’s suffering, would be acknowledged in retrospect as remnants of a truly remarkable cinematic achievement.
The sister is played by the helplessly beautiful Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who rises valiantly to confront and embrace the sister Dalbir’s anguished and defiant fight to the end to free her brother. This is Dalbir’s story, more than Sarbjit’s. And yet it’s also a film that doesn’t spare us Sarbjit’s anguish.
Sarbjit is not a film that holds itself back.

Remakes definitely have it tough. Not only do they have to go through the usual grind of pleasing the audiences and doing well at the box office, they also have to bear the added burden of comparisons with the original. And in most cases, the huge expectations and comparisons often kill the remake. Agneepath is a remake of the 1990 Yash Johar production – a movie which was a box office failure but went on to become a cult – and there’s no doubt that people are waiting to decide whether this one works better than the original or not. Truly speaking, Agneepath is more of a tribute rather than a remake; it pays homage to the original, it itself states that the cult is difficult to recreate but at the same time urges you to watch it without any pre-notions. I am going to do this movie a favor – I will...

The gentle genius from the world of cinematography, Ravi K. Chandran is no more part of Karan Johar's production of Agneepath. No one knows exactly what prompted this maestro of the moving pictures to move away from this commitment. But this is not the first time that Ravi has had issues over the way a film has to be shot. He says, "I've commitments with Murugadoss (the Tamil director of Ghajini) for a Tamil film which I've been shooting. So Kiran Deohans is doing the rest of the film." However, Ravi adds that he will be shooting another film for Karan Johar's Dharma Productions soon. "I've great respect for Dharma Productions and Karan Johar.
