- He worked as a live television director and booth announcer during 1950s at WSAV-TV and WTOC-TV in Savannah, then with the fledgling Georgia Public Television network. He relocated to Medford, Oregon, in 1961, directing television. In addition to KRON-TV, he directed and announced at KPIX-TV and directed, announced, and produced at KGO-TV, a Circle 7 station, where, with fellow director Marty Pasetta, he did pioneering work in the use of the then new technology of chroma-key.
