Kiril Donchev was born on February 20, 1936 in Burgas, Bulgaria. Kiril Donchev graduated National Academy for Music in 1959. He worked as conductor of the orchestra in Burgas (1959- 1962). Since 1962 his professional realization is related to theater and film music. He is among the most prominent contemporary artists in the genre. He worked as a conductor and composer in Sofia's "Bulgarian Army" Theatre (1962-1971) and in Theater "Sofia" (1972- 1988). Since1989 he is a composer at the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov". He wrote for almost all theaters in Bulgaria, as well as theater productions in Moscow, Warsaw, Berlin, Prague, etc. He is a member of Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers, Union of Bulgarian Actors. Kiril Donchev has written music for more than 240 theater productions, 65 feature films, over 30 documentaries and more. His music has received numerous awards at international festivals in Venice (Italy), Gijon (Spain), Essen (Germany), Varna International Film Festival, Plovdiv Film Festival (Bulgaria) and others. In 2008 Kiril Donchev receives the Award "Asker" for "overall contribution to theater."
