In 1998, prolific sci-fi novelizer and comic book writer Michael Jan Friedman penned a high-concept crossover novel called "Planet X."
"Planet X" took place in the same universe as "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and detailed historical events on a planet called Xhaldia. It seemed that Xhaldian citizens were suddenly developing eerie extrasensory abilities and mutating into strange, powerful creatures. Captain Picard and the U.S.S. Enterprise were called in to investigate. By a stroke of luck, the Enterprise encounters a rift in space leading to a parallel universe, and onto the Enterprise step the Uncanny X-Men of Marvel Comics fame. The X-Men offer insight into the events on Xhaldia, as it's very similar to what happened on Earth, at least in "X-Men" comics. I assure you, this novel is 100% real.

"Superman Returns" might not be considered the best Superman movie, but in hindsight it really wasn't bad. Its reverence for Richard Donner's 1978 "Superman" film gave it some real charm, which, after two decades of the gritty reboot trend, seems like a much more welcome prospect now than perhaps it did back in 2006. But while it made a decent 391 million, it wasn't enough for Warner Bros. to push ahead with any sequels.
Director Bryan Singer did admit years later that his movie was perhaps overly "nostalgic and romantic." These days Singer's reputation has been pretty much decimated after some truly horrific allegations of sexual assault came to light, but back in the early-aughts he was riding high, having scored hits with "X-Men" and "X2: X-Men United." And when he wasn't churning out popular superhero blockbusters, he was also helping out with the acclaimed TV series "House," on which he served...

Yesterday, Legion showrunner Noah Hawley wowed Marvel fans by announcing that he was working on a Doctor Doom solo movie for 20th Century Fox. Now, it looks like he’s bringing his Legion leading man with him for the project.
Bleeding Cool were in attendance at the show’s panel and are reporting that Dan Stevens is involved with the film in some form. Marvel fans will already known Stevens as Professor X’s son David Haller in the psychological superhero series – which is set in the X-Men universe – and to date, he’s been a big hit in the role, earning acclaim from viewers and critics alike.
The obvious suggestion here is that Stevens may take the lead role as the metal-masked Victor Von Doom. This would actually be a great casting choice, as not only is he a talented individual whose star is on the rise, but he...

In case you weren't aware, Legion is not the only X-Men television show Fox is developing at the moment. There's actually another series coming that apparently could get the green light in a couple weeks according to Comicbook. What it is about, who is in it, or where in the confusing timeline it takes place is unknown...but we do know there are Sentinels in it. Producer Lauren Donner shares some additional interviews below...
“Matt's is much more a part of just the world in terms of there are mutants, mutants are hated and there are Sentinels -- though very different from what we've seen before...You feel like you're here in the X-Men world. With Legion, we're our own universe. It gives Noah the freedom to do what he wants to do. Because we play with so many different timelines, and we rebooted and not really rebooted and all that,...

When news broke that Bryan Singer would be returning to the fold for X-Men: Days Of Future Past, much to the delight of mutant fan-peoples, the director sweetened the deal even further with a promise. "There will be some fixing," he said, hinting that his third X-flick (after X-Men and X2) would address perceived problems with X-Men: The Last Stand, aka the threequel Singer dumped in favour of Superman Returns.
Here's the thing: X-Men: The Last Stand didn't need fixing. In a world where movie threequels often topple promising trilogies, it stands out as a fun, action-packed, stakes-raising gambit that features some of the trilogy's boldest set pieces and more than a few gob-smacking twists. Picking up months after X2's downbeat, watery climax, we find the X-Men mourning the death of Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) even as Worthington Labs announce they've found a mutant cure. Needless to say this divides the mutants,...

If you’re typically active in putting pre-orders on upcoming Blu-Ray releases, here’s one reason to hold off on X-Men: Days of Future Past. The blockbuster is bowing on home media this October, but it has been confirmed that what Fox Home Entertainment is sending our way then is just a theatrical cut of the film. And sure, the theatrical version is what is currently sitting pretty with 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, but that’s not the only disc that Fox will be releasing.
Building off franchise producer Lauren Donner Shuller’s comments last month that a director’s cut would eventually see shelves this year, Fox’s Evp of Marketing Communications, James Finn, has clarified that an ‘extended’ version of the film is one release Fox is currently working on:
@ConnorBlackburn @DOFPXmen theatrical. Extended is coming next year.

Even with home video sales continuing on a downward trajectory, Hollywood seems bound and determined to follow the same playbook they have used since the early '80s introduction of the Vcr. So even though "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" will be available digitally on September 23rd and on Blu-ray on October 14th, Fox has just announced that you're better off not bothering with either if you want the extra bells and whistles. Last month, franchise producer Lauren Donner Shuler mentioned that a director's cut of 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past' would be coming later this year. Now, Fox's Evp of Marketing Communications, James Finn, has clarified, saying the first upcoming 'Dofp' release will be have a theatrical release, with the extended cut dropping in 2015. So forget about that noise for the moment, and let the speculation on what all the extra material might be commence. We already...

A few days ago came what appeared to be a pirated leak of test footage showcasing what an R-rated film based on the Marvel comic "Deadpool" could look like. "X-Men" producer Lauren Donner has been trying to get the project made for years now and recently confirmed it's still in the works at 20th Century Fox.
Ryan Reynolds has long been attached to reprise the character which he previously played in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine". Then, at least a year ago, Blur Studios teamed with Reynolds and director Tim Miller to essentially do a proof of concept reel - footage that "Deadpool" creator Rob Liefeld talked about last year.
Cut to the weekend and someone's cell phone recording of the footage leaked online. Cease and desist orders came fast, but the clip was out there - in fact it has been suspected that the leak may well have been deliberate to generate interest.

Winning over both audiences and critics, "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" managed to take a complicated timeline and dozens of characters, and create something that made more sense and was more exciting than it probably had any right to be. And in the lead up to the film, there was much talk about the roles that were reduced and/or cut during the editing process, most notably those of Rogue (Anna Paquin) and Storm (Halle Berry). Well, not to fear, as they are likely to be added back into the film. Producer Lauren Donner Shuler recently answered a fan query on Twitter and confirmed a director's cut of "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" is coming later this year. Check out the response below:@SheenaTylor2 @BryanSinger @Kinberg @ShuDonner @20thcenturyfox yes ! Coming later this year. — Lauren Shuler Donner (@ShuDonner) June 26, 2014 Granted, details are fuzzy, but Rogue did have a much larger part,...

Lauren Shuler Donner, one of the main producers behind the huge and lucrative X-Men franchise, has for a long time been talking about a possible fourth film in the original movie saga. She has on numerous occasions talked up the project, where she's also discussed the possibilities of bringing back on board X-Men and X-Men 2 director Bryan Singer with the sentence, "Nothing would please me more than to bring Bryan on for another movie", something which Singer would later reply to by confirming that he would love to return to the franchise for another go at it. Well I guess all that talk about wanting to do this and loving to be able to do that, has actually led to something as Donner apparently is in the midst of prepping a fourth movie. It's still in the early stages though, having yet to officially approach Fox to pitch the idea.
