Amazon is bringing you an interesting collaboration later this month, as it adds to Prime – An American Girl Story – Melody 1963: Love Has to Win – which is a lot of title.
While American Girl has put together some fun, and surprisingly star-studded, adventures before, this one takes on a much more serious subject, which is in keeping with the new character/doll, Melody. Melody, a 10-year-old living in Detroit in 1963, finds her eyes suddenly opened to the racial inequality all around her.
This is the first of four original American Girl specials that will come to Prime Video, and stars Marsai Martin as the title character, Frances Fisher as Miss Abbot, Frankie Faison as Melody’s grandfather Frank Ellison, and Idara Victor as Melody’s mother Frances Ellison.
