At 6 foot, 5 inches, Winston Duke towers over his fellow castmates and crew members on set. In former-stuntsman-turned-filmmaker David Leitch’s “The Fall Guy,” Duke fills the shoes of Dan Tucker, the stunt coordinator in the film responsible for protecting famous stuntman Colt Seavers’ (Ryan Gosling) life and big-shot first-time feature filmmaker Jody Moreno’s (Emily Blunt) blockbuster set.
“Not a lot of stunt guys are my size, so sometimes, I tend to have to supplement a lot of the stunt scenes myself,” Duke told IndieWire after wrapping up the film’s global press tour. “It has always been that way since ‘Black Panther.’ Stunt coordinators are the ones who also employ a powerful ‘no,’ where they say certain stunts can’t be done. I really appreciate that because that is a big part of longevity for us actors in staying safe.”

“You’re a Terminator,” Tokyo teen Ani (Miku Patricia Martineau) gapes to Kate (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) after witnessing the bloodshed her kidnapper has brought down on two dozen yakuza now lying shot, stabbed, sizzled on a yakitori grill and very, very dead. Kate, the titular antihero of director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan’s vicious vengeance flick, is a grown-up child assassin trained by her mentor (Woody Harrelson) in the art of death, a fate so common among on-screen orphans that their support group could fill a church basement. Yes, she can rack up quite the Schwarzenegger-esque kill count. But Kate’s Terminator resemblance also includes her left eye’s red and distended pupil, evidence of the polonium poisoning that will kill her in 24 hours. Other symptoms of this gimmick include blistered skin, pounding eardrums, wobbly knees and an urgency to take an entire gangster clan along with her to the grave. There is no cure.

As you're watching "The Avengers" on the big screen, it's easy to forget that the heroes you see fighting the alien invaders are actually paid actors and that those actors learned their moves not from a secret government agency like S.H.I.E.L.D., but from fight coordinator Jonathan Eusebio.
Eusebio spoke with MTV News in the lead-up to Marvel's ultimate crossover to walk us through each key fight scene.
There are some minor spoilers ahead, so if you haven't seen "The Avengers" yet, consider yourself warned.

Blending and balancing multiple lead characters within a two-hour movie has to be a tough task for any director, but Joss Whedon appears to have pulled it off in his new costumed confection Avengers Assemble.
Arguably, Whedon's job was slightly easier than those making the X-Men films as he had just one villain (Tom Hiddleston's Loki) rather than a whole brotherhood of mutant baddies. Loki has his army, of course, but they're an anonymous bunch of extraterrestrials rather than fan-favourite comic characters.
Nevertheless, it must still have been tricky to dish out the dialogue and screentime as evenly as possible in Marvel's new blockbuster. The disparate mix of human and superhuman characters poses further difficulties and one of the posters and trailer images highlighted this, with Black Widow looking extremely underpowered as she cocked a handgun in readiness to take on alien soldiers armed with huge laser blasters.

But truth be told, he's Still not intimiated! Eusebio's career in stunts and as a fight coordinator has seen him transitioning over the years between television (Angel, Nikita) and features (Serenity, X-men Origins: Wolverine, The Bourne Legacy). In this exclusive interview conducted by Cbm's Ed Gross, he shares some thoughts on The Avengers -- which at the time of the interview, had still not been released, hence he couldn't talk specifics. Scifi Media Zone: Obviously when you hear the credit “fight coordinator,” you kind of surmise what it means, but I’d like you to provide a broader understanding. Jonathan Eusebio: I’m involved with the design of the action sequences, specifically anything involving fight sequences with the actors or any other players in the movie. I develop the style, I train the actors, and I teach the stunt people how to do those fights. Scifi Media Zone: Is...

There's no getting around the fact that The Avengers would require its stars to put in a lot of work when it comes to action, and there was one cast member in particular who was called upon to train in various forms of fighting styles. That was Scarlett Johansson, who reveals that she found her brief action scenes in Iron Man 2 a great help in getting ready for a larger role in The Avengers. "Stunts and fights are a huge part of my work on this film and being able to have a fighting style that audiences remember from ‘Iron Man 2’ is awesome. Jonathan Eusebio created and choreographed the style and look of the movements and Heidi Moneymaker, my stunt double, helped me learn them. What they both did for me is so important because it is just as much a creation of the character as whatever dramatic...

In The Avengers, Tom Hiddleston's Loki will square off against each member of the superhero team, meaning that he had the most fight sequences of any cast member to learn. For that reason, the British actor knew he would have to spend a lot of time in the stunt gym. "I have bruises all over my body, but it’s called ‘The Avengers’ and if it wasn’t action- packed, we’ve failed to do our jobs," the actor reveals. "We have the greatest stunt team in the world led by R.A. Rondell and Jon Eusebio, so the first thing I did when I got to Albuquerque was hit the stunt gym. I started going through the movements and as I did more and more, I started reconnecting to the character because I believe how you move informs everyone of who you are." "I love shooting action because my...

Countless tales about preparations for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's fight scenes have been told by and from the perspectives of the actors involved in those sequences, but the words of the coordinator, Jonathan Eusebio, are new.
