Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, formerly known as Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, has been acquitted of murder following the July 2015 shooting death of 32-year-old Kate Steinle in San Francisco, California.
A jury on Thursday found the 48-year-old Mexico native not guilty on charges ranging from involuntary manslaughter to first-degree murder. He was found guilty of felony possession of a firearm, which carries a potential sentence of 16 months to three years.

Manchester United manager David Moyes could be set to lose one of his young stars with Rafael contemplating a move back to his native Brazil, according to the Daily Star.
Sources in Brazil say the 23-year-old is seriously considering his position in the squad and could be about to return to his home country in the January transfer window if he does not feel settled.
Corinthians are believed to be keen on the right-back, as they step up their pursuit of a replacement for the retiring 34-year-old veteran Alessandro.
Rafael is understood to be weighing up his options and his position in the squad with the likes of Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Johnny Evans able to play in his position.
United also signed rookie right-back Guillermo Varela in June.

In terms of transfer activity it has been a summer of frustration for Manchester United and new manager David Moyes, with no major signings coming through. Coupled with Wayne Rooney’s declaration of being “angry and confused”, it seems as if the likeliest movement inside the doors of Carrington, is out.
Although many will say that a new centre back isn’t of immediate priority, I feel there needs to be investment in this area in the next couple of years.
Firstly, Nemanja Vidic has been blighted by injuries in the last two seasons and appearances have been more sporadic, thus opening up a potential problem. In addition, at 32 years of age, he may lack the strength to ride another serious injury again.
However a more apparent and worrying thought for United fans is “what does the future have in store for Rio Ferdinand?”. Ferdinand seems to be plagued by...

Manchester United face a stern test as they head to St James’ Park for the Super Sunday live Sky televised match. The Red Devils haven’t beaten Newcastle in their last three encounters in the league and will be looking to change this on Sunday.
Newcastle will provide a tough test for them though. Despite not playing particularly well in the league this season, they are unbeaten at home in all competitions. The Magpies produced arguably their best performance of the season on Thursday night as they saw off Bordeaux 3-0 in the Europa League. Newcastle though will be hopeful of a league win after taking just a point from Reading last weekend.
Manchester United meanwhile will be determined to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing 3-2 defeat at the hands of Tottenham but their win against Cluj on Tuesday will have gone some way to restoring morale.

The Magpies are off to Old Trafford; with 40 years of misery at the Manchester fortress to make up for. The last time Newcastle United beat Manchester United at Old Trafford was in 1972, and Alan Pardew will be hoping his troops can continue their relatively successful start to the premier league in the Capital One Cup, however hard it may be.
It’s predicted that Sir Alex Ferguson will field a slightly weakened team- if you could call it that- with Nick Powell, Alex Buttner and David De Gea presumed to be starting. Now, we all know Fergie doesn’t think Too much of the competition itself, but against a strong Newcastle side, he does need to consider his options thoroughly, with Lindegaard showing his physicality in recent games, something that De Gea has always lacked in-between the sticks.
However, United may need De Gea’s quick hands, with Cheick Tiote...

After Wednesday night’s narrow 1-0 victory over a resilient Galatasaray side, Manchester United will be feeling slightly fortunate to have come away with a victory and a clean sheet. It was an impassioned and bold approach from the Turkish side, who, against the pre-match expectations, decided to take the game to United, and it almost paid off for them. United’s nerve was tested on numerous occasions, particularly in the first half, but the partnership of Nemanja Vidic and Johnny Evans, coupled with the excellent David De Gea, managed to keep Turkey’s most decorated team at just about arm’s length.
It need not have been that way if United had been more fluid in the final third, where their concentration was evidently lacklustre. Fortunately for them, Michael Carrick was able to add the finishing touch to United’s best attacking move of the game, turning inside the...

As the 2012/13 Premier League season draws ever nearer, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will be ramping up his efforts in July and August to bring in the new recruits that can ensure the Red Devils don’t once again end up straggling behind the “noisy neighbors” Manchester City.
Manchester United’s well documented financial situation is obviously poor compared to most top teams, but Fergie does have some money to spend on new talent.
Here is a list of 10 realistic players that Manchester United should buy this season in order to reclaim the Premier League title;
1. Leighton Baines
Age: 27
Club: Everton
Position: Defender
It’s not surprising that Manchester United are actively looking for a replacement for aging French left-back Patrice Evra. His consistent performances and experienced defending has made him crucial part of United’s success over the years, although at the age of 31, his time at the...

Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy has revealed his selection in Stuart Pearce’s Great Britain football squad for the 2012 Olympics.
Bellamy told The Sun that he was confirming the news early;
“I am in the Olympic squad – but I was supposed to keep it quiet.
“It’s a different challenge. I had a difficult season with Liverpool but the Olympics is a one-off.”
The 32-year-old Welshman will have to take one of the three slots allocated for experienced players over the age of 23. Others rumoured for these slots include his fellow Welsh colleague Ryan Giggs and former England captain David Beckham, though Bellamy’s selection puts both of those names in doubt as Pearce has previously hinted that he might include an experienced central defender with Newcastle United’s Steven Taylor (who will return to training following a lengthy injury just before the Olympics) and Manchester United’s Johnny Evans in the running for those slots.

Final Position: 2nd
After yesterday trying to convince you all that Manchester City, Premier League Champions, had a poor season, I now turn my intention to putting forward the notion that Manchester United, who finished 2nd, had a very good season. Don’t say I’m not ambitious.
My simple matter rests on this; Manchester United never expected to win the Premier League this season. Yes it can be argued that they always expect to win the Premier League, but this was quite obviously a transitional year as they tried to introduce youngsters like De Gea, Smalling, Evans, Jones, Welbeck, Cleverley to be prepared for a long term title challenge. The fact that they managed one this year with a young squad, a rather large injury crisis, a goalkeeper who looks like, before he came here, he had never eaten a meal larger than a spoonful and Johnny Evans starting...

The biggest third round Fa Cup tie of the weekend takes place this early afternoon as Manchester United and Manchester City clash in a 1pm tie, live on ITV 1. With both clubs battling it out at the top of the Premier League and with United out for revenge after their humiliating 6-1 defeat at Old Trafford, there is a feeling that there hasn’t been a bigger Manchester derby in years.

1. Average of 2.97 goals per game
So far this season (as of Monday morning), there has been 291 goals, a fantastic 2.97 per game ratio. This means that even the typical boring mid-table games are still going to produce some sort of entertainment. Ok, so most of them are coming from Man City, but even so, it’s still so much more entertaining than a dirty child wailing over a once-credible song. Take that, Gary Barlow (pun intended).
2. Man City
Finally, the battle for top spot has got a bit feistier than the usual United vs. Chelsea, United vs. Arsenal, United vs. A.N.Other. The 6-1 Manchester derby was a great game for the neutral, and even better for the City fans. If United vs. Chelsea ended 6-1, would there have been anywhere near as much made out of it? No chance. Having a rivalry, a real one, at the top of...

Manchester United 1-6 Manchester City
23 October 2011
Old Trafford
75,487
Mario Balotelli celebrates his second goal in the Manchester derby.
A much anticipated fixture ended in tears for Manchester United as they were simply hammered 6-1 by Roberto Mancini’s men. The win puts Man City five points in the lead at the top of the league table.
In-form Balotelli scored on 22 minutes to put his side ahead and silence the Manchester United population.
And matters got even worse for Alex Ferguson’s men as centre-half Johnny Evans took down Mario Balotelli, who was dangerous throughout, and was brandished with a red card. No complaints from anyone in the ground. A clear sending off.
So 10 men United went into the break 1-0 down, City went into the break in the lead and having played the better football in the first period.
It was on 60 minutes when Manchester City grabbed their second of the match.

Finally, after waiting all summer for summer to arrive, it does. In October. If someone can explain this ‘Indian Summer’ term that’s bandied about, I’d gladly listen. There’s a time and a place for warm weather, and that place is called ‘on holiday’. Whoever claims that sunshine and heat make for ‘glorious’ conditions in which to enjoy football, is sorely mistaken.
Looking across the terraces, a sea of shaven heads red and dripping with sweat while trains and buses across the land are packed full of humanity at it’s clammiest, all accompanied with a scent that suggests antiperspirant has gone out of fashion.
In short, hot weather isn’t nice, it’s bloody horrible may it soon piss off so we can welcome back big jumpers, naked trees and rainy afternoons. Lunging tackles and match postponements, much more my cup of tea.

Arsenal took an absolute drubbing at Old Trafford today as an inexperienced defence completely collapsed under the pressure of a fantastic Manchester United squad, who put 8 past their hopeless opponents. A Wayne Rooney hat trick was complimented by goals from Danny Welbeck, Ashley Young (2), Nani and Park Ji-Sung to ensure Manchester United topped the table, with Theo Walcott and Robin van Persie responding for the visitors. On a day where Manchester well and truly dominated North London, it was United who somehow bettered City’s 5-1 result at White Hart Lane.

Manchester United’s young squad put in a vintage second half performance to see off Harry Redknapp’s Spurs who were left powerless to resist the Red Devil’s onslaught. Goals from Danny Welbeck, Anderson and Wayne Rooney saw off Tottenham after an evenly-matched first half and showed that the London club still have some way to go before being considered genuine title contenders.
Tottenham finally got their season underway with the difficult trip to Old Trafford after their previous week’s game against Everton was postponed due to the riots in London. Spurs had only ever won 3 games out of 38 Premier League meetings with the Red Devils, but would have been hoping that United would carry on their tradition of being slow starters.
