A new rumor regarding Meghan Markle has one royal commentator seeing red. Claims the Duchess of Sussex is tipped to star in a sequel to the 1992 film The Bodyguard led Kinsley Schofield to weigh in on the hot-button topic. She furiously stated “the audacity” of casting the Duchess of Sussex in a role initially earmarked for her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, in the 1990s was too much to believe.

Alison Hammond has apologised for “making light” of theatre audiences singing along at musicals after police were called to a disrupted production of The Bodyguard in Manchester.
On This Morning last Wednesday (5 March), Hammond, her co-host Dermot O’Leary and guest Vanessa Feltz discussed news that the Palace Theatre had asked audiences not to sing along with the touring production of the musical due to “anti-social behaviour”.
“I can’t believe it. I’d be devastated, I’m not even going to go to that show now,” Hammond said, with Feltz asking: “Isn’t the whole point of going to a musical you know, that you sing along to all the bits you know and when you don’t know the words you just make them up?”

As Jimmy Durante once noted, “Everybody wants to get into the act!”
That was evidenced by disturbances at Manchester, UK’s Palace Theater Friday night, where unruly patrons wouldn’t stop singing along with the musical “The Bodyguard,” according to a report by Sky News.
Police were called to the theater, resulting in the show being stopped 10 minutes before the end. Some audience members were reportedly “singing over the lead during the final song.”
Two people were removed from the venue, Greater Manchester Police said, and charges are being decided.
“Officers were called to the Palace Theatre last night after staff reported a number of people in the audience causing a disturbance,” a spokesperson said. “Two people removed by security staff were spoken to by police and a decision about any further action will be made once the evidence has been reviewed.”
The removal at the end was the second such incident on the night.

Jessica Rabbit kidnapped by Nazis. Costner rescuing Princess Diana. We look back at a few strange movie sequels that were never made…
The multi-million dollar success of any movie will inevitably leave Hollywood executives clamouring for a sequel. And while there are plenty of movies whose stories are open-ended enough to warrant a return to the creative well, there are many times when coming up with a follow-up idea requires all sorts of imaginative leaps. Just look at something like Alien: Resurrection, which had to come up an elaborate reason why Ripley had (spoiler alert) managed to survive a swan-dive into a lead foundry in Alien 3.
Which brings us to this list, which is devoted to a few of the weirder sequel ideas that never made it to the big screen. An E.T. sequel in which little Elliott gets tortured by aliens? Forrest Gump dancing with Princess Diana?...

The rommiest of all romcoms shows Whitney Houston at the beginning of her greatness plus it has one of the best head-shaking snogs in film

The Bodyguard. What's not to like? This is not just your average romcom. There's glitz and glamour, swearing, sex and, most importantly, Whitney's in it. This is Whitney Houston at the beginning of her greatness. I Will Always Love You, a song central to the soundtrack, became one the bestselling singles of all time. (The film-makers had originally wanted to use What Becomes of the Broken Hearted, which is unthinkable, really.)
Here's the basic plot: Frank Farmer (Kevin Costner) is a secret service agent hired to protect world-famous actress and artist Rachel Maron (Houston). With danger looming, Frank moves in with Rachel's family in a bid to keep them safe, turning their lives upside down.

You know the story. One spoiled diva. A top-notch no-nonsense bodyguard. A wee kiddie at risk. A letter-writing psycho and jealous sister in the wings. The late Whitney Houston is as well-remembered for classic 1992 movie The Bodyguard and that Dolly Parton cover as she is for her string of chart toppers.

Lawrence Kasdan has recorded his surprise at the idea of his screenplay for the 1992 movie, starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, being used as the basis for a musical. My own reaction, having seen the finished product, is more one of mild dismay. Although the show is staged with enormous technical efficiency, it is one more example of the necrophiliac musical morbidly attracted to a cinematic corpse.
I admit that the book by Alexander Dinelaris shifts the focus so that the rock star, Rachel Marron, occupies centre-stage rather than the bodyguard, Frank Farmer, who seeks to protect her from a venomous stalker. But, even though the songs are now foregrounded, the central paradox of the story remains unresolved.

It’s the show based on the movie that became the seventh highest grossing film of 1992 and made Whitney Houston’s version of I Will Always Love You an international hit. Now, The Bodyguard has been turned into a West End stage show.
Several years in production the show stars Tony and Grammy award-winning actress Heather Headley (The Lion King, Aida) in the role Whitney made famous, Rachel Marron and Lloyd Owen (Monarch of the Glen) stepping into Kevin Costner’s shoes as the bodyguard himself Frank Farmer. Written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Empire Strikes Back) the stage version of the show brings the story up to date for a 2012 audience (references to Twitter included) and throws a few extra Whitney songs in for good measure.

Princess expressed interest in playing the lead role in a proposed sequel to the 1992 blockbuster, according to Costner
Princess Diana was in line to take the Whitney Houston role in a sequel to 1992 romantic blockbuster The Bodyguard shortly before her death, Kevin Costner has revealed.
Speaking on the Us talk show Anderson, in a recording due to be broadcast in May, Costner said he received the screenplay for the proposed project on 31 August 1997, the day before the princess was killed in a car accident in a Paris tunnel at the age of 36 while trying to escape chasing photographers. The film, tentatively titled The Bodyguard 2, would have seen Diana take a familiar role, that of a princess who requires protection from paparazzi and stalkers. Costner would have reprised his role as former special agent turned bodyguard Frank Farmer, who is charged with keeping her safe.

"Diana and I had been talking about doing Bodyguard 2," said Costner,...

More famous for its soundtrack and Whitney Houston's cover of "I Will Always Love You" than for being a great movie, The Bodyguard arrives on Blu-ray looking good and might be a bit of a better than you first thought. Written by Lawrence Kasdan (who also wrote screenplay for Raiders of the Lost Ark and Empire Strikes Back) and directed by Mick Jackson (Volcano), the film was a star vehicle for pop diva Houston along with helping Kevin Costner cement his leading man status. The plot is pretty straight forward with former Secret Service Special Agent Frank Farmer (Costner) renting himself out as a bodyguard for the rich. Frank is approached by music manager Bill Devaney (Bill...

The Bodyguard is hitting tomorrow, and I have two copies of the Blu-Ray release available.
One of the biggest (and possibly most surprising) cultural movie phenomenons of the ’90s, you know have the chance to revisit the film in Blu-Ray splendor. Though not overloaded with extras, the release celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the film, and the Blu-Ray video and audio quality showcases all the highlights.
She’s safe now. Safe from hordes of screaming, grasping fans. Safe from demanding kooks who pop up unexpectedly. Safe from the unknown killer stalking her every move. She’s in the arms of The Bodyguard. Starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston and featuring songs from the #1 soundtrack album (including Houton’s hits “I Will Always Love You” and “I Have Nothing”), The Bodyguard has it all: Suspense. Thrills. Romance. Peril. Passion. And the shining brilliance of two great stars.

He may not look like much, but that’s what makes it such a great disguise. He’s Frank Farmer, the unassuming looking, but highly capable bodyguard of director Mick Jackson’s 1992 movie “The Bodyguard”, the film that launched Whitney Houston as more than just a pretty face that can sing, she can act, too. Well, sort of. The film is scheduled to arrive on Blu-ray for the first time on March 27, 2012 courtesy of Warner Home Video. If you’ve been a fan of the movie from the very beginning (and I count myself as one), then this is what you’ve been waiting for. And even if you’re not? Well, it’s still a pretty damn good movie, anyway. She’s safe now. Safe from hordes of screaming, grasping fans. Safe from demanding kooks who pop up unexpectedly. Safe from the unknown killer stalking her every move. She...

After her death on February 11, 2012, The Voice -- Whitney Houston -- was reintroduced to the world as her rendition of I Will Always Love You from The Bodyguard echoed through the air waves. For many it brought back memories of her film debut in The Bodyguard. The film was originally to star Diana Ross and Steve McQueen in the 1970s. Another attempt to make the film fell through, with Diana Ross and Ryan O’Neal in the 80s.
Instead it became known as the film that catapulted Whitney Houston to cinematic stardom.
Handpicked by Hollywood heavyweight Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) to star as singer/actress Rachel Marron, the story follows the former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, who is hired to protect Marron after she receives a death threat. Farmer falls for Marron after he becomes intrigued by her beauty and talent. Take a look...

On Saturday afternoon (February 18), Whitney Houston was sent to rest by family and friends at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey, during a stirring funeral dubbed her Home-Going. While the pop diva's onetime leading man Bobby Brown reportedly left moments before the noon ceremony began, the pop diva's onscreen leading man Kevin Costner delivered a poignant eulogy in her honor.
In 1992, Houston made her film debut in "The Bodyguard," a star turn that paired her in the lead with Costner in the title role. Written by Lawrence Kasdan and directed by Mick Jackson, the romantic drama followed Frank Farmer, a Secret Service agent-turned-bodyguard tasked with protecting pop star Rachel Marron from a stalker.

A psychic Morgan Freeman. Jessica Rabbit kidnapped by Nazis. We look back at a few strange movie sequels that were never made…
The multi-million dollar success of any movie will inevitably leave Hollywood executives clamouring for a sequel. And while there are plenty of movies whose stories are open-ended enough to warrant a return to the creative well, there are many times when coming up with a sequel idea requires all sorts of imaginative leaps.
Which brings us to this list, which is devoted to a few of the weirder sequel ideas that never made it to the big screen…
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
Spielberg’s wish-fulfilment fantasy of UFOs, mashed potato mountains and alien abduction was an unexpectedly huge hit for Columbia Pictures in 1977, and naturally enough, it wanted a sequel. Unenthusiastic about making one, but anxious that a sequel might be made without him (as had...

Way back in 2009, the New York Daily News reported that singer Rihanna would supposedly be starring in a remake of the Whitney Houston/Kevin Costner film, ‘The Bodyguard‘, which had a hugely popular soundtrack that included Houston hits like “I Will Always Love You”, “I Have Nothing” and “I’m Every Woman”.
A supposed insider also reported that the remake would be a “young and sexy take” on the film and that Chan’s name had also been thrown into the hat to take on Costner’s role.
It was a fun idea but was also a Completely false rumor that both Chan and Rihanna’s camps denied.
Fast forward to 2011 and Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Warner Brothers is going to remake the 1992 blockbuster hit about a Secret Service agent drafted to protect a singer who’s being hunted by a stalker. In the updated story, the agent...

It was a love story that united Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner on the big-screen and made millions at the box office – and now The Bodyguard is being re-spun by Warner Bros. with a remake.
Original screenwriter Lawrence Kasden is being replaced by Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer who will pen the new storyline, featuring the same characters – but this time bodyguard Frank Farmer will be a former Iraq vet.
The Hollywood Reporter also revealed that producer Don Lin is backing the project, which has no further details as yet.
The original film follows a bodyguard who joins a superstar’s security team to protect her from a deranged stalker. It also prompted one of the biggest ballads of all time – Houston’s cover of Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You.
The story idea was originally proposed in the 70s with Diana Ross and Steve McQueen, but production...

Warner Bros. Pictures has a new remake in it’s sights, the 1992 romance/thriller The Bodyguard. The original starred Whitney Houston as spoilt singer Rachel Marron and Kevin Costner as haunted, dedicated bodyguard, Frank Farmer. The soundtrack gained as much notoriety as the film with the release of Houston’s single, a cover of the Dolly Parton original, I Will Always Love You. The song has since regularly featured on Top 100 lists around the world.
Another gift of note from The Bodyguard is that scene in which Costner carries Houston to safety, a scene brilliantly parodied in The Simpsons episode, “Mayored to the Mob“.
Warner Bros. have hired Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer to work on the screenplay. According to Deadline, the new film will update the story, making Farmer an Iraqi war veteran, it will also address the role of social media and it’s effects on modern day celebrities,...

We’ve known that Warner Bros. has been considering a sequel to the 1992 Kevin Costner-Whitney Houston movie “The Bodyguard” for some time now. Frankly, most people are shocked that a sequel was never made, or it’s taken this long to even entertain the idea of one. The original had massive appeal and cleaned up to the tune of $410 million worldwide, with over two-thirds of that total coming from foreign box office. That’s not to mention the mint everyone made off the movie’s soundtrack, which has sold 42 million copies worldwide. Instead of a sequel that would catch up with former Secret Service bodyguard Frank Farmer (Costner) and his diva love interest Rachel Marron (Houston), though, Warner Bros. is looking to remake the original with an all-new cast and characters. Deadline reports that Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer have already been wired by WB to write the remake,...

The 1992 film starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston, which received very mixed reception upon it's release, is getting re-imagined by Family Getaway screenwriters Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer. The Bodyguard was originally proposed for Steve McQueen and Diana Ross in the headlining roles, but after more than a decade of turmoil was made with Costner and Houston. The film follows Rachel Marron (Houston) is an Oscar-nominated music superstar who is being stalked and sent death threats. Frank Farmer (Costner), a former Secret Service agent during Ronald Reagan's presidency-turned professional bodyguard, is hired to protect her. Inevitably, a romance ensues which causes more trouble for the duo. Houston's soundtrack for the film, which included the songs "I Will Always Love You" and...

Granted, 1992’s “The Bodyguard” was not the best movie ever made, but it was still good and I still liked it, so what of it? Late last year Kevin Costner made noise about a possible sequel to his hit film. The idea, said Costner, would be to bring back his bodyguard character Frank Farmer, minus the singing diva. But what if Frank Farmer did come back but Costner didn’t, and instead you got Duke from “G.I. Joe” and “Step it Up” in his place and Rihanna filling in for Whitney Houston? That’s the rumor from the NYDailyNews: Rihanna may get a bodygaurd - on the big screen. The battered pop star made an impromptu trip to the Big Apple over the weekend to have some meetings about impending projects: one of which is a proposed remake of 1992’s Whitney Houston/Kevin Costner flick, “The Bodyguard.” Rihanna would...
