- Occasionally mistaken as American-born, due to his ability to sing the American repertoire or adapt Brazilian music with English lyrics, such as "Copacabana" (1954).
- Hired several times by NBC Radio Network, starting in 1947, and in 1957, he was booked to perform a one-year engagement at the famous 'Peacock Alley Bar' at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel as well as at the Shelburne Hotel, both in Nova York.
- Liked to sing "Aeromoça" ('Stewardess'), Billy Blanco's composition in honor of his third wife, an ex-flight attendant. The song was used on VASP Airlines', (Viação Aérea São Paulo) TV ad campaign in 1976 and it is still popular among flight attendants' today.
