Matthew Putland took home the award for Best Production Design for a Feature Film for his work on Winchester at the Australian Production Design Guild (Apdg) Awards over the weekend.
The equivalent television award went to Tim Ferrier for ABC series Friday On My Mind.
The awards were held on Sunday evening at the Eternity Theatre in Sydney, with prizes given out in 26 categories spanning VFX, costume, hair and makeup, and production design across film, television, games and live performance.
On the evening, Ian Richter, Bill Undery and Ross Turner were all presented with Artisan Awards for Lifetime Achievement, while production and costume Stephen Curtis, acclaimed screen and live performance production and costume designer, was the recipient of the Cameron Creswell Award for Outstanding Contribution to Design. Caitlin Murray was the recipent of the Thelma Afford Award.

The Belanglo State Forest, scene of Ivan Milat.s grisly serial murders, is such a forbidding place the producers of the Seven Network.s Catching Milat chose to avoid the area.
Only director Peter Andrikidis and DoP Joe Pickering visited the area south of Berrima but they used a drone camera to film the location.

The eight-part series set in Kings Cross in 1969 evidently delivers on that promise, encouraging the network to commission a second season as announced by director of television Michael Healy at the launch of Nine's 2014 season this week..
As the writer-producer, Lambert was inspired to make the show when she learned that a close family friend of her mother was one of thousands of women who had been forced to live in an unwed mothers' home and give up her baby daughter for adoption 20 years earlier.

One of the most acclaimed TV series of recent years, East West 101, is trying to expand its audience and become a mainstream hit with its third and final season.
The jewel in the Sbs drama crown is a series about a major crime squad investigating crime in multicultural Sydney. “When we first started East West 101 we were living in a post 9/11 world, so it was very much about fear of Islam. The second season was about boat people and attitudes towards illegal immigration and what lengths governments and people would go to deal with that. Season three is about how the war goes on in Afghanistan and the effects of combat on service men and civilians and how that is reflected in Australia,” explained producer Kris Wyld.
“The series questions, what makes a hero? Is there even such a thing as a hero,” added Steve Knapman.

Artisan Entertainment's Man-Thing will find its way to theaters on Aug. 27. The film, a collaboration between Marvel Studios and Fierce Entertainment, is based on the Marvel Comics character and recently wrapped production in Sydney after an eight-week shoot. Penned by Hans Rodionoff and helmed by Brett Leonard, Man-Thing follows the vengeful creature born from the evil and injustices perpetrated against man and nature. It stars Jack Thompson, Rawiri Paratene, Matt Le Nevez, Rachel Taylor and Steve Bastoni. The film was shot by director of photography Steve Arnold, with Peter Pound and Tim Ferrier handling production design and Omnilab and Rising Sun doing the visual effects. Special effects and prosthetics work was provided by the Make-Up Effects Group.
