Back in November, long before Avengers: Infinity War began to tighten its grip on the global box office, Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder (along with a little help from Joss Whedon) conjured up a superhero team-up movie of their own in Justice League.
And despite a truckload of potential, the ill-fated DC blockbuster didn’t amount to more than the sum of its parts, leaving comic book fans to wonder what could have been.
To his credit, Snyder has been pretty forthcoming about his time behind the lens, and has used social media platform Vero as a means of sharing never-before-seen shots of Batman, Wonder Woman, and their superpowered allies. The latest addition comes by way of Reddit, where Flashback FM posted an unused storyboard that places Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader in the line of fire. Feast thy eyes:

Although it may sometimes seem clear-cut, it’s not always easy to distinguish which footage that made it into Justice League‘s theatrical release was directed by Zack Snyder or Joss Whedon. Still, there are easy ways to tell in some instances: If it’s a stylishly shot action sequence that’s been around since the first trailer or two, it’s Snyder; if Henry Cavill’s mustache is digitally removed or if the Flash gives an awkward speech about brunch, it’s Whedon.
But one particular part in the movie is igniting some debate as of late, that being the post-credits sequence which saw a maritime rendezvous between Lex Luthor and Deathstroke take place. At the heart of this was a video made by cinematographer Simon Firsht, which led people to believe that Whedon shot the stinger.

Yesterday, Justice League storyboard artist and Dceu constant, Jay Olivia, professed via social media that Zack Snyder always planned to introduce Batman in Warner Bros.’ subsequent Man of Steel movie, regardless of the studio’s intended trajectory. It’s generally believed that WB shifted tactics following the 2013 release, opting to lay the framework for a shared universe, instead of pursuing an additional solo Superman film.
Today, another hotly contested debate regarding the Dceu has seemingly been put to bed. Having received the sole director credit on Justice League, despite Warner Bros. bringing Joss Whedon aboard late in production to helm extensive reshoots, it’s now looking as if Snyder didn’t oversee the film’s post-credits scene where Deathstroke (Joe Manganiello) and Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) conspire to create their own league.
