Vmi Releasing has acquired North American distribution rights for physiological thriller “What Remains,” starring Andrea Riseborough and Stellan Skarsgard.
The film — which is being sold by Minerva Pictures — comes from director Ran Huang, marking his feature film debut, and had its world premiere at the 2023 Locarno Film Festival.
In “What Remains,” a long-term inmate at a mental clinic in Scandinavia abruptly confesses to a series of brutal murders. His therapist, a police officer, and the inmate then try to reconstruct the details of the case and to comprehend the murky reality that emerges, finding themselves in a deadly game of psychological dependency that threatens to destroy them all.
The film was produced by Chinese platform/content provider Iqiyi.
The deal was negotiated by Eleonora Granata Jenkins and Monica Ciarli on behalf of Minerva Pictures and Jessica Bennett and Dan Fisher for Vmi Releasing.

– The Orchard has acquired the rights to “Kings,” the drama starring Halle Berry and Daniel Craig and directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven, Deadline reports. The film focuses on a foster family in South Central a few weeks before the city erupts in violence following the verdict of the Rodney King trial in 1992.
Ergüven previously directed “Mustang,” which received an Oscar nomination in 2015 for Best Foreign Language Film. Charles Gilbert and Vincent Maraval served as the producers on “Kings.”

In arguably his finest acting hour, Elvis Presley plays a young street hustler who becomes a successful New Orleans club singer, only to be dragged into the city's violent underworld criminal. Directed by Michael 'Casablanca' Curtiz and based on Harold Robbins' novel A Stone For Danny Fisher, the punchy melodrama takes Elvis away from the sun and bubblegum of his usual movie world and allows him to show his true dramatic colours. Of course, classic songs like Hard Headed Woman, As Long As I Have You and the title track ensured that the soundtrack album struck Billboard chart gold.

Randy heads to N’awlins with The King, King Creole.
Even some hardcore Elvis Presley fans find his movies a bit tedious to watch. He’s singing, he’s fighting, he’s singing, he’s kissing, he’s singing while fighting… that’s pretty much the script rundown for a lot of his films.
I hear that “Clambake” was E’s personal favorite of all his movies, but he liked the character of Danny Fisher in “King Creole” the best. The critics also seem to favor the two-fisted, hard-headed, dropout, nightclub singer of the 1958 classic.
While trying to choose a wine for “King Creole,” my mind immediately played the Wwed card – What Would Elvis Drink?
The King may be more closely associated with stuff a little harder than alcohol. He didn’t seem to be much of a social drinker, but he didn’t really seem very social anyway. I...

Let's face it 2009 was not such a great year for movies – at least mainstream releases anyway. There were so many films that promised to tease, tantalize or entertain us with their fancy looking trailers and the end results where less than stellar. Genre films appear to be the biggest draws at the box office with stories that focus on battles between good and evil. Represented by one or several antagonists or villains, evil within a story can often be more fascinating than good. A good villain has the power to outshine the hero with his intelligence, quick wit or twisted philosophy. Unfortunately there also seems to be an equal number of terrible villains in films. They say a film is only as good as its villain and a poorly developed villain can also ruin a picture. Sometimes it's due to bad writing, other times it is the fault of the actor.

Coraline
Based on a brilliant book by Neil Gaiman, Coraline is about a young girl that enters a parallel reality when she discovers a hidden door in her new home. In this world she encounters strange characters that help and hinder her journey back into real life.
Directed by Henry Selick of Nightmare Before Christmas fame, Coraline is another great-animated feature that has been released recently. It can sit proud alongside Pixar’s Up and Fantastic Mr Fox. Amazing visuals and a perfect script make this perfect viewing for the whole family. Highly recommended!

When an escaped convict focuses his revenge on Detective Danny Fisher, Danny has “12 Rounds” of twisted games to prove himself and save his kidnapped girlfriend, Molly. Miles Jackson is the genius terrorist who wants revenge for the killing of his girlfriend years earlier. But Miles has an ulterior motive. Danny must put together clues to not only rescue Molly, but stop Miles once and for all. WWE wrestler John Cena plays Danny Fisher, with less than stellar acting. Cena doesn’t portray much emotion, though he does look the part of an action hero. On the other hand, his partner Det. Hank Carver (Brian White) is a wonderful actor, and often overshadows Cena. Aiden Gillen as the evil and ruthless Miles Jackson plays the part of a cold-blooded killer to perfection. Though the acting and dialog were often lacking, the intensity was spot on for an action thriller. There are...

Chicago – Renny Harlin’s “12 Rounds,” starring the WWE’s John Cena and now available on Blu-Ray and DVD, is a shockingly dull affair, an action film that tries to maintain a breakneck pace but forgets that movie rollercoasters are only fun with ups And downs instead of just a numbing series of stunt sequences.
Blu-Ray Rating: 1.0/5.0 The reasonably effective Cena (although he had more to do in “The Marine”) plays a New Orleans police officer named Danny Fisher, an average cop who happens to stop a brilliant thief whose girlfriend is accidentally killed in the process. A year later, the thief has escaped from prison with only one apparent goal - enacting his revenge on Danny.
12 Rounds was released on Blu-Ray on June 30th, 2009.

The criminal mastermind unleashes a ridiculously plot-hole-filled series of challenges for our muscled hero, including stopping a moving cable car and escaping an about-to-drop elevator.

12 Rounds is either one of the best tributes to action films of the last two decades or a horrible rip-off with nothing unique to say or show – it’s a genuine toss-up. But even if you can’t decide whether or not 12 Rounds borrows too much or the right amount, one thing isn’t debatable: John Cena has no place acting. The movie itself has problems left and right, but what’s really proven by the time credits roll is that action stars don’t just require muscular bodies in tear-away shirts, some acting is required. Bruce Willis didn’t rock our faces off in Die Hard by just being tough as nails – no, instead he threw in some acting to make John McClane endearing and even funny.

The Movie:
When I first heard that John Cena would be starring in another WWE produced film, my first thought was the mediocre quality that was ‘The Marine’. I put the movie in (I didn’t see this in theaters) with great hesitation and sat down for what I thought would be an extremely boring, over acted action flick that would further market wrestlers as actors.
‘12 Rounds’ of course stars John Cena as Danny Fisher a New Orleans police officer who ends up taking down a Miles Jackson (Aidan Gillen), a terrorist that the FBI has been trying to capture. In the process of the arrest Jackson’s girlfriend attempts to run and is hit by a truck. Miles tells Danny that he will have his revenge on him which he brushes off due to the fact that he will be in jail for a very long time.

Wrestler John Cena goes 12 Rounds with an international terrorist in this high-octane thrill ride from Renny Harlin. Renny might take some beats from his previous action outings, but there are some thrilling set pieces in this New Orleans flavored jambalaya. International Irish terrorist Miles Jackson (Aiden Gillen) is in New Orleans pulling a job for some quick cash. Unbeknownst to him the FBI, led by agent George Aiken (Steve Harris, is hot on his trail. Jackson escapes the feds with the help of his girlfriend Erica (Taylor Cole). Officers Danny Fisher (John Cena) and Hank Carver (Brian J. White) are on routine patrol when they.re called in by the FBI to assist in the botched operation.

We saw the trailer for 12 Rounds, with John Cena, recently and thought it looked like hilariously over-the-top action fun. And now, to further whet your appetite, here are some exclusive stills from the film, from which we've gleaned the following information.Ex-wrestler Cena plays Detective Danny Fisher, a New Orleans cop who has it all: cute girlfriend ( Ashley Scott) and pugdog. But a brilliant criminal whose plans he once foiled (Aidan Gillan), who on the evidence of these pictures likes to spend his spare time brooding against the sky / hide in the trunks of cars, kidnaps her and forces Fisher to perform twelve tasks for him before he will release her. Cue action! The film's directed by Renny Harlin and comes out on May 27. Ask us, it looks like one for fans of Shooter and the like (whadya mean, we're the only ones?).

12 Rounds is the latest desperate attempt to turn a wrestling hero into the next big action star. As if pretending to punch someone in the face qualifies you for… well… anything else, WWE Heavyweight Champion John Cena is making his second effort at silver screen stardom by this time pretending to be Bruce Willis.
Only Cena is nothing like Bruno and it’s obvious every time the actor wrestles to create a strained facial expression. In this carbon copy version of Die Hard: With a Vengeance, Cena dashes around a post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans trying to stop similar sounding traps in a new, boring game from a cheap imitation evil mastermind.

Poor New Orleans! As if the real-life horrors of Hurricane Katrina and the broken levees weren't bad enough, now the beautiful city must suffer from the devastation wrought by Danny Fisher, played by former * WWE wrestler / entertainer John Cena in 12 Rounds, the latest train wreck from director Renny Harlin. "Damn the property damage! I'm going to save my girlfriend, whatever the cost!" is a noble sentiment, especially when you don't have to pay the bills.
Danny isn't really responsible for the carnage he causes, of course, even though he politely apologizes whenever he crashes into other people's vehicles or accidentally kills people. (Cena furrows his brow and turns his smile upside down, just so you know he's not happy with himself.) The real blame lies with Miles Jackson, who is seeking revenge on Danny for the death of his girlfriend. Jackson is described as an international arms dealer, but he...

I don’t know why anyone would mess with John Cena. I mean, for God’s sake, the guy’s neck is bigger than my friggin thigh. And my thighs are friggin big. (I need to work out.) Here are the latest images from Cena’s upcoming action-thriller “12 Rounds”, in which Cena plays a cop who has to out muscle a smart bad guy who wants to play games ala “Speed” or “Dirty Harry”. Much running and shouting into phones ensue. Detective Danny Fisher (Cena) discovers his girlfriend (Scott) has been kidnapped by a ex-con tied to Baxter’s past, and he’ll have to successfully complete 12 challenges in order to secure her safe release. Starring John Cena, Aidan Gillen, Ashley Scott, Steve Harris, Brian J. White, Gonzalo Menendez, Taylor Cole, and directed by Renny Harlin. You remember Renny, don’t you? “Cliffhanger”? “The Long Kiss Goodnight”? Once married to Geena Davis?...

A new trailer for Fox Atomic action thriller "12 Rounds" has arrived. Though the first half of the second trailer is similar to the first one, the rest of the footage presents never-before-seen footage. In the new trailer, it can be seen how Miles Jackson plots his lethal games and drags around Molly Porter while seeing the trouble he causes to Danny Fisher.
