- Prolific Viennese leading actor, on stage from the age of six. Trained at the theatre school of the Vienna Burgthater (1897-99). Ensemble member of the Residenztheater (1900-11). One of the first actors to play Sherlock Holmes on screen in a series of films made by the Kowo-Film AG, 1917 to 1918. During the 1930's, chiefly employed in character roles.
- The actor Hugo Flink belonged to the pioneers of actors of the German silent movie industry.
- Like other actors too, who had already had a successful career at the theater, it was no problem for Hugo Flink to work for the up-coming talkies.
