Popularly known as Alba Flores, this Spanish actress was born Gonzalez Villa in 1986 to Antonio Flores and Anna Villa. For her acting career, she would later change her name to Alba Flores, for which she is known today. Flores was a well-known actor in Spain, but her performance in the hit TV series La Casa De Papel, better known as Money Heist, on Netflix gained her overnight worldwide fame. Flores knew she didn’t need to leave Spain for her acting career to take off. She was right because she is still getting tons of leading roles and working on passion...

November 19th, 2020: C. Tangana is in Madrid. At midnight he receives an invitation from Uruguayan singer-songwriter Jorge Drexler to go into the studio and finish a pending session. The meeting — which coincided with the Latin Grammys, where Drexler was competing for Song of the Year — ended up being the foundation of “Nominao,” a set of hard rhymes to the beat of three chords and a bass drum.

Spain’s The Mediapro Studio, the recently-launched content production-distribution giant, has teamed with Argentine-based company Non Stop TV to develop a bioseries on Lola Flores, the Spanish flamenco matriarch.
The project is backed by The Flores Family, with Lolita and Rosario Flores, Lola Flores daughters, attached as executive producers, alongside Mariola Orellana.
The series will recreate in two seasons the life of singer, dancer and actress dubbed as “La Faraona,” from her childhood in Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, where she was born in 1923, until her death in Madrid, in 1995.
“Her extraordinary and unique artistic talent, as well as his enormous popularity make her life one of the most fascinating stories ever told to date in a TV series,” The Mediapro Studio said in a statement.
“Lola was a free and indomitable spirit that, thanks to her immense talent and overwhelming personality, went from acting in baptism parties in Jerez...

Rollercoaster rides that are based on superhero characters are nothing new. We’ve seen rides based on the web-slinging movements of Spiderman and the mighty strength of the Hulk. This 2018, Six Flags parks throughout the Us and Mexico will be unveiling two new rides based on two of the coolest characters in DC comic history: Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn. In San Antonio, Texas’ Six Flags Fiesta, Wonder Woman: Lasso of Truth will be turned into a gut-twisting ride. Wonder Woman’s Golden Lasso, as it will be called, is going to be the world’s first publicly rideable roller coaster made

Wonder Woman has already been a huge success at the box office and now it looks like the Amazonian princess is getting her own thrill ride at San Antonio's Six Flags Fiesta Texas. The Amusement park has plans to open a Wonder Woman: Lasso of Truth roller coaster in 2018! The ride will work it's way around a sizable area:
"...eight-passenger trains will carry riders across a 15.5-inch-wide steel track (which Rocky Mountain Construction has dubbed “IBox”), up 113 feet and down a 100-foot, 90-degree drop. The course also features three inversions and multiple overbanked turns, hitting speeds of 52 miles per hour."
Check out how ridiculous this coaster looks, makes me wish Six Flags: Magic Mountain was the lucky recipient of the Wonder Woman: Lasso of Truth coaster:
The president of Six Flags Fiesta Texas, says the ride is expected to be "odd to go upside down on such a tiny track.

Paul Newman’s salad dressing enterprise is common knowledge, but did you know about these 25 businesses run by Hollywood stars?
What do big-time movie stars get up to in their spare time? While their fictional counterparts might enjoy chopping wood or getting hosed down by friendly females (more on that here), actors themselves have a tendency towards wacky entrepreneurial ideas and hefty industrial investments.
Looking at our findings from some rigorous research (read: Googling), it seems that you can divide famous actors into a handful of groups – those who are trying to do something good for the world, those who are trying to break into internet megabucks and those who like opening restaurants.
Without further chit-chat, here’s a breakdown of which stars are behind which brands which you may or may not know and love…

Sony Pictures has confirmed that starting at 10am Pacific time today, you will be able to rent James Franco and Seth Rogen's comedy The Interview on YouTube, Google Play, and Xbox for only $5.99. You will also have the option to buy it for $14.99 which is pretty much the cost of admission for seeing a movie here in Los Angeles. There's also an official website that has been set up for anyone who may not have access to those services. There have been talks of the film being made available on Netflix in the next few days as well, but there's no confirmation of that yet. It's good to see that Sony didn't let the hackers win. Enjoy the movie! Hopefully it was worth all the insanity.
If you would rather watch the movie in theaters, below you'll find a full list of where the movie will be playing on...

Refresh for latest… Here’s a list of theaters confirmed to be showing Sony’s The Interview on Christmas Day after the studio worked with indie chains on a release plan finalized this morning. The venues have a deadline of 6 Pm Pt today to decide whether to run the movie on December 25, as Sony must send theaters the movie hard drives in time to make Christmas Day screenings. Some theaters are booking the film for later in the month or into January, so that deadline isn’t looming as large. As of 4 Pm, more than 200 theaters had signed on.
This is all happening fast so this list will continue to grow. We’re hearing that there are still internal discussions among art houses about whether to add the pic to their schedules, with security and previous commitments among the concerns. This year marked the 16th annual Fiesta Pooch Parade, which is a part of San Antonio's larger Fiesta festival, a citywide celebration that fundraises money for the Alamo City. Which means the Fiesta Pooch Parade has been happening for 16 years and no one bothered to tell us until now. And it's not just a parade: Every year there's a doggie costume contest! That's 16 years worth of costumes we've missed out on! The Firsta Pooch Parade truly is the most wonderful time of the year. Just look at Spanky and Rocky in their Fiesta best (above)! And Bruno and Brandy: All this cuteness is for a good cause too: The Fiesta Pooch Parade is put on by and raises money for Therapy Animals of San...

Looking back over the year at what films moved and impressed us, it is clear that watching old films is a crucial part of making new films meaningful. Thus, the annual tradition of our end of year poll, which calls upon our writers to pick both a new and an old film: they were challenged to choose a new film they saw in 2013—in theaters or at a festival—and creatively pair it with an old film they also saw in 2013 to create a unique double feature.
All the contributors were given the option to write some text explaining their 2013 fantasy double feature. What's more, each writer was given the option to list more pairings, with or without explanation, as further imaginative film programming we'd be lucky to catch in that perfect world we know doesn't exist but can keep dreaming of every time we go to the movies.

This week both WWE Main Event and Nxt had quite an interesting showing featuring former champions in action. From the Peeps and Jericholics to the Emmalation of true Bolievers, all fan bases were well represented for the most part. But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves, how about we begin with this week’s Main Event from Gamecock country North Charleston, South Carolina.
We open this weeks episode back with a two-man booth as the Miz and Josh Matthews welcome us the show. Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring for his Wednesday night debut against last week’s color commentator extraordinaire Cody Rhodes. Overall, a really good back and forth match as to be expected. Unfortunately, it wasn’t in the booking sheet for Cody Rhodes this week as he takes a loss in the Walls of Jericho.

Does any modern screen actress suffer physical agony as compellingly as Naomi Watts? Film after film, directors want to put her through the grinder — tormenting her with giant apes in King Kong, or with psycho home invaders in Funny Games. Once the action gets going in The Impossible — Juan-Antonio Bayona’s film about a family who survived the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami that devastated a giant chunk of Southeast Asia — it’s hard to tear our eyes away from her, even as the story continues to tear bits and pieces of flesh and bone off her. She cries, she screams, she limps, she passes out, she goes practically purple, and all we want to do is jump into the movie and save her. I’m not sure any other actress today could have pulled this off without seeming cheap or manipulative. The same, unfortunately, cannot be said for the movie itself,...

Pola Negri, The Spanish Dancer Silent-film lovers in The Netherlands will be able to enjoy a new restoration of the 1923 Pola Negri period comedy The Spanish Dancer. Screening with live musical accompaniment, the film will be presented at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, April 6, and at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, at the Eye Film Institute Netherlands in Amsterdam. On the Eye Film Institute website, The Spanish Dancer is described as a "comical costume drama." Set in early 17th-century Spain, the story follows gypsy singer Maritana (Negri) and her lover, penniless nobleman Don César de Bazan (Antonio Moreno), as they become enmeshed in court intrigue. The screenplay is based on Adolphe d'Ennery and Philippe Dumanoir's play Don César de Bazan, itself taken from a Victor Hugo novella. Beulah Marie Dix and powerhouse producer-screenwriter June Mathis adapted the tale. Directed by future Academy Award nominee Herbert Brenon (Sorrell and Son...

As we’re all still trying to shake off the holiday season and get back to work, New Year's resolutions in tow, so are studio marketing departments. Over the past week, only a few bits of new material managed to trickle out, but even with the small handful, we actually got a couple of pieces that are quite successful, more than enough to fill the Best Stuff department. Just missing out on top honors is the first trailer for The Impossible, the Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor-starrer about the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Packed with a wild amount of picturesque -- albeit, heart- wrenching -- images, the latest from Antonio Bayona looks devastating while remaining respectful of the tragedy through solid filmmaking. On a horrific, but more playful...

Blood And Sand Review Part 1 Yet, despite Nita Naldi's effectiveness, Rudolph Valentino is the real star of Blood and Sand, creating a remarkable portrayal of a complex, multi-layered character. In one early scene, for instance, his friend Chiripa (Antonio Flores) is gored by the bull and dies in Gallardo's arms; Gallardo cradles the dying man and kisses him tenderly on the cheek. Later, when he relates this story to his mother, we can see the look of pain and suffering on his face. Which brings me to Valentino's appeal. He is able to show attributes not usually associated with male stars, such as [...]...

Warning: This article includes minor spoilers on the upcoming season of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.
When actor Andy Whitfield, who played the title character in last year's break-out cable hit Spartacus: Blood and Sand, was diagnosed with cancer, it forced the producers of the show to get creative while they hopefully waited for him to recover.
The result is a six-episode "prequel" series debuting January 21st on Starz that begins with a glint in the eye of Batiatus dying at the end of Blood and Sand and takes us back to tell the story of Batiatus' ludus before Spartacus' arrival.
It also gave the producers a chance to tell a gay sub-plot that seems considerably different than the one between Barca (Antonio Te Maioha) and Pietros (Eka Darville) in Blood and Sand: Barca's earlier love affair with fellow gladiator Auctus, played by Josef Brown, an Australian dancer and actor.

Madrid -- Rampant piracy in Spain cost the music, video and film industries some €5.1 billion ($6.28 billion) -- or triple the €1.6 billion ($1.97 billion) earned in sales by those industries -- in the second half of 2009, according to a study released this week.
Spain is responsible for an estimated 20% of worldwide downloads, securing it the dubious distinction of one of the top pirating havens in the world. But until now, the industry has been hard-pressed to quantify the losses.
The study, based on some 6,000 surveys, is to be conducted regularly from now on every six months.
According to Idc consulting firm's study "Observation of pirating and consumption habits of digital content" for Spain's Coalition of Cultural Creators and Industries, 95.6% of the digital music in Spain is downloaded illegally, while film registers some 83.7% illegal downloads and video games 52.3%.
Only 19.7% of the digital books downloaded in Spain in the second half of last year were done so illegally.

Today's spotlight is directed at Douglas Edward, who is both a musician and a composer. Doug's work can be listened to at CDbaby (follow individual links) where most of his scores are sold and showcase a wide variety of genres. Doug's most interesting release may be his collection of short film scores which feature inventive ensembles and still create an album that's a fluid listening experience despite featuring music from a dozen different projects! The following interview discusses most of Doug's credits up to this point with a special focus on overcoming budgetary constraints, criss-crossing genres and performing music in addition to writing it.
