Tom Hardy has scored a small but key role in Rufus Norris' currently shooting film adaptation of the documentary-style musical stage play "London Road" for BBC Films and Cuba Films.
The musical deals with a community in Ipswich shattered when a serial killer murdered five women, and the story follows how they coped with the ensuing frenzy.
"Broadchurch" star Olivia Colman plays the major role of Julie, a Neighbourhood Watch event organiser. Hardy will play a taxi driver who has one scene where he sings about a morbid passion of his youth.
Anita Dobson, Clare Burt, Rosalie Craig, Hal Fowler, Kate Fleetwood, Nick Holder, Claire Moore, Michael Shaeffer, Nicola Sloane, Paul Thornley, Howard Ward and Duncan Wisbey also star.
