- Was a member of German performing rights society GEMA.
- Do not confuse with Austrian composer namesake Franz Friedl (born in Vienna on 15 September 1909, died in Vienna on 3 October 1982) who was a member of the Austrian performing rights society AKM.
- The film composer Franz R. Riedl entered the film business in 1934 and in the next years he wrote the music for short movies and documentaries like "Von Königsberg bis Berchtesgaden" (34) and and "Rätsel der Urwaldhölle" (1938).
- Franz R. Riedl was able to continue his career as a film composer after the war and he wrote the music to movies like Es geht nicht ohne Gisela" (1951) and "Kanaillen" (1958).
- During World War II Franz R. Riedl did only write the music for short movies and documentaries.
