- Adriana M. Galvez grew up in the central coast town of Salinas, California. Salinas is known for it's endless fields of iceberg lettuce and John Steinbeck, author of East of Eden, Cannery Row, and many other famous novels. Adriana graduated from North Salinas High School with Honors and many Art Awards. Anxious to stretch her creative wings and get out of the foggy iceberg capital of the world, she applied and was accepted to the Illustration program at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Her first full time job as an artist was at a computer company called First Byte. The company was responsible for the voice engine Smoothtalker, later purchased by Apple. She was hired to work as an artist and trained as a programmer to do design and programming work on early crude Apple and Amiga computer learning programs for children; Math Talk, Mad Libs and many others. A few years went by and she was then hired by DIC Animation where she finally got her break in Saturday morning Animation as a Color Stylist and later as a Background Painter. She worked on numerous action adventure and fantasy cartoons at the legendary DIC. Soon after, she was hired on Fox's The Simpson's as a Character Layout artist for 2 seasons drawing Bart, then became a Color Designer for the 3rd season painting Bart and his surroundings. Pursuing her dream to hand paint backgrounds full time for animation, she got hired by Nickelodeon on Joe Murray's Rocko's Modern Life and worked on all 4 seasons. She also worked on many other Nicktoon shows and pilots expanding her portfolio with numerous styles. She has now finished her 13 season gig on Fox's King of the Hill as Background Paint Supervisor. This job was a great opportunity for Adriana to work directly with the creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels. Also to learn about working and managing a department on a prime time scripted show while working with producers, writers, the network and directors directly. Adriana presently continues to work on various animation projects. To stay current in her field she continuously takes courses on the latest software and applications to expand her animation and art tool box. She also loves exploring new mediums by playing in other areas of art on the side including; Tiki art, costume building, photography, film, writing, voice over and improvisation. Adriana is married to conceptual artist Russell G. Chong, who is presently working at Lucasfilm Animation on The Clone Wars Animated series airing on Cartoon Network.
