It’s a known fact that Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty (CoD) series is one of the best Fps franchises in the gaming landscape. Although it’s been two decades since its inception, the CoD series brings a first-person perspective of immersive storytelling, intense military conflicts, and flawless multiplayer that only a few franchises can match.
While many believe CoD‘s gameplay has revolutionized shooter games, a few hold the opposite opinion. Tripwire Interactive’s founder, John Gibson, who created games such as Killing Floor and Red Orchestra 2, once ruthlessly claimed that Call of Duty has “ruined a generation of shooter players.”

Four New York film production veterans, spanning the perspectives of unions, vendors and city government, agreed that the looming IATSE strike threat will restrict shoots this year before a rebound in 2025.
Tommy O’Donnell, President of Theatrical Teamsters Local 817, which represents workers in transportation, casting, and locations for film, TV and Broadway, sees signs of production “slowing down,” but doesn’t think “there will be any more strikes” in the near term. He said the expiration of the IATSE deal at the end of June and the Hollywood Teamsters contract a month later will prompt a pullback. Nevertheless, “I think it will settle down, and 2025 will be a big year,” he added.
“The contraction of the industry is going to be temporary,” agreed Kwame Amoaku, Deputy Commissioner of the Film Office at the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment. Amoaku, who is a filmmaker in addition to his government role,...

A friend recently spoke with Closer Weekly and revealed that after some hesitancy on Vanna’s part, the couple is ready to take the plunge.
“John’s always wanted to make it official, but Vanna was hesitant, only because she didn’t feel it was necessary to marry again,” the source recently told the outlet.
Although Vanna hasn’t been in a rush to walk down the aisle, the friend reveals that she changed her mind and is ready to meet John at the altar.
“Things change, though,” the insider shared. “Vanna just feels like the timing is right.”

Vanna White is being temporarily replaced after she contracted Covid-19 amid her contract negotiations.
White came down with Covid in July while Wheel of Fortune was filming their yearly “Teachers Week,” during which all contestants will be teachers, which will air in October.
Elementary school teacher Bridgette Donald-Blue will take over for the week until White recovers. Donald-Blue won California’s Teacher of the Year award for 2023.
This is the fourth time White has missed the show since she started 41 years ago. In 1986, she was replaced by Susan Stafford when her boyfriend, John Gibson, died in a plane crash. Her second time missing the show was in 1991 when she went on her honeymoon with George Santo Pietro, whom she later divorced in 2002. Tricia Gist filled in for White then and later in the year when White was sick.

Latasha Gillespie remembers having a doctor’s appointment on May 30, 2020. It was five days after George Floyd was suffocated by a police officer, his excruciating nine-minute, 29-second death — captured on video and witnessed by millions around the world — igniting an unprecedented social response of outrage and horror. Gillespie, like many other heads of inclusion in Hollywood and at companies across the country, had been working nonstop since that moment, meeting with leadership to provide guidance and messaging and with employees to listen and hold space.
“I was in heavy mode doing this,” says the Amazon Studios head of global diversity, equity and inclusion of her state of mind upon showing up at the doctor’s office. The last section of her new patient forms, on mental health,...

Sherri Shepherd wasn’t a nominee at the 13th Aafca Awards on Wednesday night, but she certainly had the look of a winner.
Shepherd was on hand at the annual awards show — which celebrates the best in film each year — to present the best actress award to her “Chi-town sister” Jennifer Hudson, who the organization’s near-100 members honored for playing Aretha Franklin in “Respect.”
“I’m so in awe of her, that she has reinvented herself but she’s still singing those soulful gospel songs, then she’s pop, then she can get in there and act her butt off and did an amazing job in ‘Respect,’” Shepherd told Variety about Hudson on the red carpet outside the Sls Hotel in Beverly Hills. “Now the girl’s got her own talk show — welcome to the block, sis! — so, it’s very, very exciting to support her in this manner.

In rural New Zealand, Hoaggie (Erik Thomson) rides in the passenger seat. His wife, Jill (Miriama McDowell), is driving and their sons Maika (Billy Paratene) and Jordan (Frankie Paratene) are in the back. It’s the middle of nowhere in New Zealand: scenic, sure, but totally isolated. It’s a good place for a family picnic too, and it fits the bill for a few minutes. That’s when a greasy dude named Mandrake (Daniel Gillies) and his mute lackey, Tubs (Matthias Luafutu), show up. Mandrake seems to know that Hoaggie is a teacher, and he seems a little too laid back as he attacks the family with pure, unhinged sadism. The fact that he goes on to take the family for an all-night joyride from hell is just a way to salt the wounds.
For a while, Coming Home in the Dark works because it doesn’t just lean into the brutality.
