Graceland, Season 1, Episode 3: “Heat Run”
Written by Stephen Godchaux
Directed by Renny Harlin
Airs Thursdays at 10 pm (Et) on USA

On this week’s Graceland, Mike’s reluctant to spy on training officer Briggs, and several undercover agents find themselves in hot water after getting emotionally involved in their respective cases.
While Graceland’s heading in the right direction character-wise, several members of the undercover team are still receiving the shaft when it comes to receiving quality storylines. Arguably one of the weakest characters thus far–Lauren–finally gets a shot in the spotlight; unfortunately, her moment of glory arrives just in time for her to be booted from the house. Luckily, her exit means there’s an open space for a new character who will hopefully be a better fit. Next in line are Jakes, Paige, and Johnny (who’s still being used solely...

2012 Writers Guild Award Nominations
The 2012 Writers Guild Award nominations were announced yesterday and as with the Emmys cable led the drama categories. Previous nominees Boardwalk Empire and Breaking Bad and new series Homeland all racked up 3 nominations in the drama field. The Good Wife is the only network drama featuring in the Drama Series category, with Dexter getting the other slot and sadly Friday Night Lights missed out.
If you're wondering where Mad Men is; the field of eligibility for these awards runs from December, 1 2010 until November 30, 2011. This makes the Writers Guild Awards similar to the Golden Globes rather than the Emmys regarding the submission time frame. The last new episode of Mad Men aired in October 2010 so it can't be included; yes it has been more than a year since there was new episode of Mad Men.
Network fared much better in the comedy front with Emmy success Modern Family...

Jennifer Aniston, Alicia Keys, Demi Moore and Patty Jenkins have signed on to direct the Lifetime original movie Project Five, an anthology of five short films exploring the impact of breast cancer on people’s lives. Aniston, Marta Kauffman, Paula Wagner, Kristin Hahn, Kevin Chinoy and Francesca Silvestri will executive produce the movie, which reunites former Friends star Aniston and co-creator/executive producer Kauffman for the first time since the end of the hit NBC series. Sony Pictures TV is producing. Kauffman developed the interconnected story arc of Project Five, which will mix drama and comedy to explore the effect that breast cancer and its diagnosis have on women and their relationships. Ben Lawson has landed one of the two coveted lead roles in the USA Network pilot Wild Card — a witty drama about people behaving badly in Las Vegas and the lawyers who solve their problems.
The Australian actor plays Will Garrett, a successful Wall Street attorney who could be living the American Dream but instead feels trapped in life. One night in Sin City, his life changes forever.
If greenlit to series, Wild Card would join USA’s powerhouse lineup of procedural dramas, an enviable home given the network’s strong track record for launching new shows.

On hand to pitch his new TNT cop drama "Dark Blue" to media buyers Wednesday, Dylan McDermott posed a hypothetical question that could prove the underlying theme for the 2009 upfront.
"How long can you pretend to be something before you become it?" McDermott asked onstage at the Turner upfront presentation. And while he was referring to his character, a two-fisted undercover cop, the actor might as well have been talking about his new home network.
TNT has spent the past few years trying to erase the distinction between broadcast and cable television. To hammer home the point that it functions as a sixth broadcast network, the cabler scheduled its upfront in the heart of the broadcast upfront week and packed it with A-list talent.
TNT unveiled a drama slate that includes projects from Steven Spielberg, Steven Bochco, "Roseanne" creator Matt Williams and the husband-and-wife team of Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon.

Bittersweet. Wholly bittersweet. Dead Like Me: Life After Death presents fans of the original series with a quandary. What is Dead Like Me without Rube (Mandy Patinkin)?
The new Dead Like Me feature film, reprising the plot of the ill-fated television series, answers that question but in a way that most fans will find lacking. By most accounts, getting 70% of an original cast back together 5 years after it ended (quite abruptly, I might add) would seem like a dream come true. Did we notice Laura Harris, who played Daisy Adair, was replaced by Sarah Wynter? You bet your ass we did. Did we care as much? No. What really gets at us - eats at us - is the void left by Rube's absence. Sure, they play it off decently well in the story but you can't replace the grounding character of...
