Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the finale of Peacock’s Mrs. Davis.
Peacock wrapped up Mrs. Davis on Thursday, finally giving audiences some answers about the origins of the all-powerful AI.
As it turns out, Mrs. Davis wasn’t crafted by some nefarious engineers who plotted to take over the world. In fact, she (it?) was actually developed as an app for Buffalo Wild Wings. No, seriously.
The final episode opens with a character we’ve yet to meet — who we soon learn is Joy, the coder who created Mrs. Davis, and the person that Simone (Betty Gilpin) has truly been looking for this whole time. Remember the very strange rendition of Eddy Grant’s “Electric Avenue” that Simone was confronted with after she washed up on shore in Episode 7? Yeah, that was leading her to Joy, who is now one of the few people left on Earth...

There have been plenty of songwriters and recording artists over the years objecting to Republican politicians using their music. Sometimes, that results in litigation, but almost never a court ruling, because litigation is slower than political winds. But Donald Trump isn’t like other politicians. He doesn’t like to settle. And so on Tuesday, a New York federal judge issued a decision that will cheer musicians.
The suit came from Eddy Grant over use of his 1983 earworm “Electric Avenue.” The song was used in an online ad during the last campaign that had a cartoon version of Joe Biden ...

Donald Trump still thinks he can win this one. We’re of course referring to the lawsuit that was filed against his presidential campaign for using the 1983 hit “Electric Avenue” in a campaign video. On Wednesday night, amid legal challenges around the nation focused on the results of voting, Trump also filed a dismissal motion in New York court with respect to the copyright case brought by Eddy Grant. The motion argues that Trump should escape the lawsuit on fair use grounds.

The struggling, pandemic-era state of the theater industry is about to be boosted by a bit of Turtle Power (as Partners in Kryme’s end-credits soundtrack song famously declared), with the big screen return of the celebrated 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
Fathom Events’ latest big screen retro release will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Renaissance reptiles’ iconic live-action feature, with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set for a limited return run at select theaters on Thursday, November 5 and Saturday, November 7. Granted, said celebration will be a belated one, seeing as the film debuted on March 30, 1990, but it will nevertheless serve as a wantonly retro moment for a certain generation that can recall the original film’s release as a seminal moment in childhood and for pop culture in general.

Singer Eddy Grant filed a copyright lawsuit against Pres. Donald Trump’s campaign on Tuesday over a campaign video that his lawyers say illegally uses the singer’s iconic 1983 song “Electric Avenue.”
The suit is tied to a bizarre animated ad posted on Twitter by Trump’s campaign on Aug. 12 which depicts a cartoon version of Trump’s White House rival, former Democratic Vice President Joe Biden, driving an old-fashioned train car while a speeding train that says “Trump Pence” and “Kag 2020″ zips through a desolate town.

When Shaggy released Hot Shot in the summer of 2000, many in the music industry were ready to write him off. It had been five long years since the Jamaican-born reggae artist landed high on the American charts with “Boombastic” and his follow-up LP, 1997’s Midnight Star, was such a colossal flop that Virgin dropped him from the label, presuming that his hitmaking days were in the past.

Rage was handed to me for review with no cover art or explanation, just a plain white disc with red lettering in a clear plastic cover. Within roughly the first ten minutes of watching it, it occurred to that I had actually heard of this movie before, having noticed a few reviews of it on various other individual blogs and sites in the past few weeks. Rage has been getting some solid attention recently, and deservedly so, because it is a standout among indie horror efforts. It’s by no means flawless or my new favorite movie of the year or anything, but it sure beats the hell out of most other “home grown” horror-thriller exploits. And I was happy to go into it “blind...

Get Billy Ocean on the horn! NBC is planning to adapt Romancing the Stone as a television series, Deadline reports.
The 1984 romantic comedy stars Kathleen Turner as romance novelist Joan Wilder, who travels to Colombia to save her kidnapped sister, with the help of con man/charmer Jack T. Colton (Michael Douglas). The box office smash, which launched Turner's career and is considered Douglas' comeback film, spawned an equally successful sequel, 1985's Jewel of the Nile — and two killer theme songs, Eddy Grant's funky original and Ocean's peppier follow-up.

Gorillaz have refused to address allegations that latest single 'Stylo' was plaigarised from Eddy Grant's song 'Time Warp'. Eddy Grant has revealed that he is consulting lawyers over what he considers to be substantial similarities between Gorillaz's new single 'Stylo' and his 1983 track 'Time Warp'. Grant told NME that he is convinced the keyboard riff on his song is identical to the animated band's recent release, even suggesting that the group's creator Damon Albarn is aware of the steal. "Damon Albarn knows in his heart of hearts - it's unfortunate that we cant get into people's hearts - he knows that this is a song that he's loved, in his club days... I don't know the guy... but he knows this is a song he loves," he claimed, before admitting that he had not previously realised the Blur frontman is responsible for Gorillaz. Grant went on to say that both he and Gorillaz are signed to the same publishing (more)...

When everyone goes to see Drew Barrymore's Whip It (which everyone better do) later this year, one of the most memorable appearances will be that of Andrew Wilson, one of the three Wilson brothers who hasn't been in anything since Mike Judge's Idiocracy. MTV caught up with Andrew in Toronto to talk about Whip It but ended up getting an interesting scoop about another new project called Electric Avenue (not to be confused with Eddy Grant's song) that he will direct and his brother Luke Wilson will be starring in. "I'm gonna direct again. Luke and I are going to do something... called Electric Avenue starting [next year]." Andrew wouldn't reveal who else is in the cast yet, but did say at least that it'll star his brother Luke Wilson. MTV thinks it could be the third brother, Owen Wilson, but I don't buy that just yet. Brothers Luke Wilson and Owen Wilson are frequently in the news for one reason or another, but it's a rare day that we reporters get to speak with the other Wilson brother, Andrew. He works in Hollywood, just like his siblings. He even co-directed 2005's "The Wendell Baker Story" with Luke.

Model and actress Dune Kossatz, 35, of East London was named Miss Bollywood Ipl South Africa at a glittering event at the Montecasino entertainment complex early on Sunday morning.
Kossatz, who had garnered the most Internet votes of 48 finalists selected from each of the Ipl games held at various South African venues, was ecstatic at the opportunity to do screen tests for a movie with Shah Rukh Khan as part of her prize package.
This on-off component of the prize was finally revealed at the event after it was announced at the start of the series, and then changed midway through the contest to "a guided tour through Bollywood", because organisers said guaranteeing a role with Shah Rukh Khan would be difficult.
Johannesburg Business Marketing graduate Genna Cloud, 24, who got the second greatest number of votes, was also named First Princess by the panel of judges and Dunay Nortje was crowned Second Princess.
