Perry was primarily a film set designer drawing (drafting) film projects. Perry was a member of the Set Designer's studio union. Romaine Johnson, a television Production Designer, hired Perry to draw and assist on his TV series projects. Working with Johnson, Perry joined the Society of Motion Pictures Art Directors Guild, as an assistant TV art director. Perry, serious and a quick wit, drew meticulous plans and elevations, and was a fast draftsman quickly drawing Romaine's designs. At NBC-Burbank, they shared an NBC TV Art Department office where the "Flip Wilson Show" was taped on Stage 2. Flip Wilson's production office was also located at the NBC-Burbank studio.
