Lionsgate’s unveiled two short videos in support of the November 17, 2023 theatrical release of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, including one featuring the new song “Can’t Catch Me Now” by Olivia Rodrigo.
The three-time Grammy winner revealed her involvement in the film during a special event broadcast on TikTok.
“From the very beginning of this franchise, we have been fortunate to attract some of the world’s most talented recording artists, whose music has accentuated and complemented the drama of the films while underscoring the emotional weight carried by the characters,” said director Francis Lawrence. “With her highly charged lyrics and urgent voice, Olivia Rodrigo taps into all of that as much as any artist today. She’s an absolute thrill to work with, and we couldn’t be more excited that her music is a part of the movie.”

Director Francis Lawrence says that early on in the process of bringing The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes to life he spoke with author Suzanne Collins about the music. Collins told him music’s an important element to this prequel and that the songs were inspired by Scottish, English, and Irish ballads. Lionsgate’s new behind the scenes featurette focuses on the music and features never-before-released clips from the film, including scenes of Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler) performing on stage.
The new video also includes interviews with Lawrence, producer Nina Jacobson, and executive music producer Dave Cobb who worked closely with author Collins to capture her vision.

This includes Tony Award nominee Fionnula Flanagan, who’ll play Grandma’am, young Coriolanus Snow’s (Tom Blyth) strict grandmother. Years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, the 18-year-old is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a postwar Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor. Love Island won't be Love Island without original love god Lee Sharpe and accidental comedian Paul Danan... were our first thoughts as the return of the decade-old dating show was announced.
But we were wrong. So very wrong.
Love Island 2015: Did Max and Jess deserve to win?
For six solid weeks, we were hooked on the tears and drama as romantic relationships formed and drastically unravelled. We cringed (and sniggered) at the unashamed sexual antics, the accompanying sound effects and dodgy post-coital lines - "my vagina feels like it's just been hit by a train" - which often took place unapologetically in the communal bedroom.
How we were entertained as desperate contestants attempted to couple up with anybody available just to stay on the show. What car crash television gold we were delivered when producers decided to bring in a contestant's spurned and bitter ex.

Remember the first ever Love Island with its seemingly clueless single celebrities constantly bickering on a tumultuous and stormy (literally and metaphorically) Fijian island?
Even the show's co-hosts Kelly Brook and Patrick Kielty were baying for one another's blood when Kielty decided to declare during one live show that Brook had previously dated contestant Paul Danan.
Other memorable highlights included Abi Titmuss becoming more and more enraged as Fran Cosgrave repeatedly referred to her as Vanessa Feltz, swiftly followed by a tipsy and uncouth Rebecca Loos letting rip.
The series aired almost exactly a decade ago, so we found ourselves wondering - whatever happened to eventual winner Jayne Middlemiss? And the Love Island love god that was Lee Sharpe?
As the new non-celebrity series currently enjoys its ITV2 revival, we find out what the 12 star contestants have gone on to do since their 2005 stint below:

How did the Hatfields and McCoys know who to shoot? They all looked alike with their big, bushy beards
The 19th-century blood feud between the Hatfields and the McCoys – two families living either side of a river that marked the border between West Virginia and Kentucky – was famous enough for the term "Hatfields and McCoys" to become American shorthand for any type of intractable dispute. The horrors of the original conflict were largely buried under jokey references. In the 1970s actual members of the Hatfield and McCoy families appeared on the game show Family Feud. The McCoys won that one.
Now comes a three-part miniseries, Hatfields & McCoys (Channel 5), which aims to to put the blood back in the feud. It's a Kevin Costner project, in that he produced, directed and starred in, and wrote some of the music.
My initial fear – that I wouldn't be able to tell the Hatfields...

Few stories in American history have such a strange dynamic of awareness and ignorance, and that fact alone gives Hatfields & McCoys the potential to set records for a mini-series that focuses on historic fact (as best they’re known). While virtually everyone knows about the dueling families, not many are truly familiar with all the details, or the seriousness of the feud’s escalation.
Beginning May 28th, History brings you a three-part event that takes you through the entire feud, from a time when the two patriarchs were friends, all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court’s intervention in the hostilities which had brought West Virginia and Kentucky to the brink of their own war.
As you might imagine (or at least, hope), being that the show is airing on History, the strength of the series comes from its commitment to accuracy. It’s hard to find fault...
