Anthony D’Esposito is running to replace retiring Rep. Kathleen Rice in New York’s 4th Congressional District. D’Esposito is a former New York City cop marketing himself as a law-and-order Republican, but as the New York Daily News reported on Monday, he had some issues following the rules when he was on the force.
Records obtained by the Daily News show that in 2015 D’Esposito’s gun was stolen after he left it unattended in a car. He was found guilty of failing to secure a firearm and had...

Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. So that's how David Lynch does an info dump. First, with a cheeky, knowing scene featuring the brothers Horne: "Jerry, what's going on?" asks Ben (Richard Beymer) after his cannabis-infused sibling (David Patrick Kelly) phones him from the woods. "I think I'm high!…I don't know where I am!" Jerry screams, perhaps speaking for a good subsection of the Twin Peaks revival audience, who have, over the six prior installments, been given only glimpses of a larger picture. Narrative momentum comes in asides; the more prevalent longueurs are reserved for atmosphere and mood, for full immersion in apparent stasis.Part 7 shakes things up, following the brotherly freak-out with several story reveals that come in quick succession. But there's a niggling sense throughout all the...

Whether you've always meant to catch up with "The Walking Dead" or "Sons of Anarchy," or want to revisit a classic like "Miami Vice" or "Twin Peaks," they're among the many great shows available to stream right now on Netflix.
(Availability subject to change.)
1. "Alias"
Miss when Jennifer Garner kicked ass on a regular basis? Relive her days as superspy Sydney Bristow and (in the first two seasons) Bradley Cooper as the guy who's not so secretly in love with her.
2. "Bates Motel"
Norman Bates and his mother run a hotel where people end up dying, but that's about all this series has in common with the Hitchcock movie that inspired it.

Review James Stansfield 28 Nov 2013 - 06:16
The Tunnel delivers some expertly crafted television this week. Here's James' review...
This review contains spoilers.
And breathe. Wow, that was intense. 2013 has hardly been short of dramatic television, but this week The Tunnel proved it could hang with the best of them, by providing a final fifteen minutes that were heart-stoppingly compelling.
Throughout episode seven there was a sense that The Tunnel was kicking up a gear, beginning with the details of the Truth Terrorist's final “truth”. A mini bus load of school kids were happily speeding down a narrow country road when a set of traffic lights caused them to halt on an almost deserted road. This was a nice tribute to the urban legend of stopping to check something in the road while a maniac crawls into the back of your car. Clearly this P.E. teacher had never heard that...

We’ve put a spotlight on some of the UK Christmas telly specials you won’t want to miss this festive season…
You know that pub conversation we’ve all had, the one about what you’d show an alien race on the brink of wiping out planet Earth to convince them we are essentially a well-meaning, productive, and often beautiful species that deserves to live? No contest: a Christmas issue of the Radio Times.
In 1969, an astronaut walked on the moon and someone thought up the Christmas Radio Times, both of them landmarks of brilliant stuff achieved by humans. They must have been thinner then - not astronauts, copies of the Radio Times - back when there were fewer TV channels than there are now Shrek films.
Between the covers of that hefty double edition sits the industry and imagination of generations. It...

We like to celebrate the movie tough guys of the ’70s here at We Are Movie Geeks and at Super-8 Movie Madness. We’ve posted Top Ten lists to tie into Super-8 shows featuring Charles Bronson (Here), Clint Eastwood (Here), and Lee Marvin (Here). This month we’re going to honor the #1 top money-making star for five consecutive years – 1978 – 1982 – Burt Reynolds. On February 11th, 1936, Reynolds was born in Waycross, Georgia, before his family moved to Jupiter Florida, where his father served as Chief of Police. Young Burt excelled at sports and played football at Florida State University. He became an All Star Southern Conference halfback (and was earmarked by the Baltimore Colts) before injuries sidelined his football career. He dropped out of college and headed to New York with dreams of becoming an actor. There he worked in restaurants...
