According to a new study, it is possible for former contestants on The Biggest Loser to maintain and even lose more weight after the show — but only if they follow an intense exercise regimen.
The study of 14 former contestants found that those who incorporate at least 80 minutes of moderate activity, such as walking, or 35 minutes of vigorous exercise, like running, into each day are able to avoid regaining the weight.
Those workout requirements are much higher than the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the average American, which advise 150 minutes of moderate exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise over seven days.

Straight Up Films has acquired the film rights to Viktor Frankl's iconic 1946 Holocaust memoir "Man's Search for Meaning".
The story follows the soon-to-be psychiatrist's life in Nazi death camps and lessons for spiritual survival. Frankl was a prisoner in four camps including Auschwitz from 1942-45. During that time his parents, brother and pregnant wife died.
During that time he also came up with the theory of logotherapy, one which posits that our primary drive in life is not pleasure but the discovery and pursuit of what we personally find meaningful.
Screenwriters are currently being sought. Kevin Hall, Marisa Polvino and Kate Cohen will produce.

Disney fans were in for a massive smile-inducing and tear-jerking event at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on Friday when a 71-piece orchestra and talented vocal line-up performed the music of The Little Mermaid live to picture at a concert screening. Among the cast taking on the roles in the beloved 1989 animated film were Sara Bareilles as Ariel, Rebel Wilson as Ursula, Tituss Burgess as Sebastian, Darren Criss as Prince Eric, and John Stamos as Chef Louis. In a post-Merida, post-Elsa world, Ariel’s tale of longing to leave her father’s home and adventure into another world still resonates with audiences. The ever-catchiness of the music does too. That was evident as the power of nostalgia and the promise of a solid cast packed the Hollywood Bowl at Friday night’s show. The 17,000-seat venue had sold out within three hours, and two more shows were added (for Saturday and Monday) to meet demand.

While contestants on The Biggest Loser drop an incredible amount of weight in just a few short weeks, that weight loss is often unsustainable and actually harmful to their metabolism, according to a new study.
Researchers followed 14 of the contestants from season 8 of The Biggest Loser, including the winner, Danny Cahill, for six years after the show ended. Thirteen of the 14 regained some of the weight back, and four of those gained back what they had lost – and more.
One contestant, Erinn Egbert, who went from 263 lbs. to about 176 lbs. on the show, was able to keep off the weight and now weighs even less,...

“The Biggest Loser” is notorious for having former contestants gain back much of the weight they lose on the show, but a new study says that might be more attributable to biology than anything else. The study, published Monday in the scientific journal Obesity, was conducted by Dr. Kevin Hall, an expert on metabolism with the National Institutes of Health, and examined former “Biggest Loser” contestants to gain insight into why drastic weight loss so often doesn’t stick. According to the New York Times, it comes down to more than lifestyle and willpower. The contestant’s biology is fighting...

"True Detective" Season 2 just got hate-watched into the ground. The 1.5-hour finale aired last night, and Twitter was ready with knives. Maybe expectations were too high after Season 1, but from the first episode, fans were confused, disappointed, confused, depressed, still confused, and bored. When the series ended, there was still mass confusion and disappointment.
To be fair, there are some TD2 defenders out there -- fans who claim to have liked the plot, characters, tone and finale resolution, with some arguing that the haters were just too dumb to follow along or forgot that Season 1 was also pretentious and incomprehensible. But some of defenders just seem to want to pride themselves on swimming against the stream, while some of the critics just seem to want to pride themselves on coming up with clever insults.
Either way, the result was an onslaught of (sometimes hilarious) opinions during the finale's airing. #TrueDetectiveSeason...
