In 1994, American cinema experienced a surge of exceptional films, among which Forrest Gump stands out prominently. Starring Tom Hanks, this heartwarming tale captured the hearts of audiences. While it didn’t quite surpass the popularity of The Lion King, which dominated the box office, Forrest Gump still made an impressive $679 million, according to The Numbers.

On a recent episode of "Hot Ones," actor Mark Rufflao was invited on to discuss his career while chocking down incredibly spicy hot wings. Sean Evans, the show's host, read a film synopsis to Ruffalo and asked if he could identify the title. Evans read a synopsis for a 1994 film called "Mirror Mirror II: Raven Dance," a straight-to-video horror film put out by the beloved B-movie studio Image Entertainment. Ruffalo, of course, could indeed identify the movie. "That's 'Mirror Mirror,'" he said. "That was probably my first movie." Indeed it was.
Ruffalo pointed out that there was "Mirror, Mirror" and then there was "Mirror Mirror II: Raven Dance," which had a "Penthouse pornstar" as the lead actress and Billy Drago as the male lead. He noted that he played "the series actor sidekick." He joked that he had established a brand with the "Mirror Mirror" movies, sarcastically imitating...

The arrival of a fresh, new voice on the indie filmmaking scene is always an exciting event and the latest debut on our radar is that from Chelsea Bo, producer of Joshua Leonard’s Fully Realized Humans and Sarah Adina Smith’s The Drop. Written, directed, and starring Bo, No Right Way is set for a fall festival tour and now we’re pleased to exclusively debut the trailer for the film, following the journey of half-sisters.
Also starring Ava Acres, Eliza Coupe-Marks, Jim Hanks, and Sufe Bradshaw, here’s the official synopsis: “Georgie, a brazen 13-year-old, has her life uprooted when she’s thrust into the guardianship of her half-sister Harper and torn away from her life in Vegas. Harper sees this turbulent time as a window of opportunity to pave a brighter future for her half-sister, but Harper’s self-righteous attempts to protect Georgie only lead to exposing their paralleled childhood wounds.

In Robert Zemeckis' 1994 film "Forrest Gump," Tom Hanks plays Forrest, a good-hearted but low-intelligence rube who, thanks to impeccably constructed American institutions, stumbles repeatedly into athletic, financial, and military success. Forrest is friendly, strong, and hapless, happy to tell his life story to anyone who sits on the bus bench next to him. Hanks won an Academy Award for playing Forrest, and the film itself won four additional Oscars, including Best Picture. Years later, many had started to reappraise "Forrest Gump" for its treacly tone, its sentimentality, and its unabashed conservative bent. This author was in high school when "Forrest Gump" was released and recalls a teacher sagely pointing out that the title character's "innocence" was only perceived by audiences due to his wealth. Had Forrest's decisions led to financial ruin, his "innocence" would not be positively touted.

One of my favorite movies of all time is celebrating its 20th anniversary today; Forrest Gump was released on July 6, 1994 with Tom Hanks playing the title character, a man with child-like innocence and a tendency for stumbling into history while love still eludes him.
Suggesting Forrest Gump as a favorite film these days doesn’t seem to be as accepted as it once was. I suspect it has to do with overplay on TV and admiration from most people who watch it. It’s easier to standout if you denounce something popular, we all know this. Gump is a heartwarming epic that has a lot to say about destiny, chance, and history. Sure it glosses over periods of Us history, but it’s not a historical witness; this is fiction at its best. Many found it to be sentiment and ridiculous while others accepted the story and characters; I personally...

Paul Walker's brothers, Cody and Caleb, will act as body doubles for the recently deceased actor to help complete Fast & Furious 7. Director James Wan says Walker had completed all of police detective-turned-bandit Brian O'Connor's scenes, and the brothers will be only used to fill the "small gaps" that remain, using CGI where needed to transform them into Paul. It's actually not the first time that body doubles and special effects have been used - it's not even the first time a brother has been used. Here are five movies that should make you feel confident that FF7 's adjustments will be seamless and look good.
1. Oliver Reed, Gladiator. Director Ridley Scott was in a pinch when Reed died from a heart attack before his scenes were completed. Scott used a body doubles and CGI to complete the additional two minutes of Reed's face time, but he had another...

When you've got it flaunt it, right? Mwg Entertainment the multi-platform digital studio behind web series My Two Fans and now wedding comedy Road to the Altar, has done an impressive job lining up some household-name sponsors for its projects. Altar is boasting wedding-friendly consumer brands Pier 1, iRobot, Panda Express and Blackberry signed on for the series. The 10-episode series, directed and co-written by Annie Lukowski, stars Jaleel White (Urkel on Family Matters) and Leyna Weber (who also co-wrote) from As the World Turns as a young couple, Simon and Rochelle, pulling together their wedding with a faux-reality TV crew in tow. The couple makes all the expected stops around town to find the perfect vendors for the wedding - florists, valets, wedding dresses, etc. And that's where the veteran TV guest stars come in to shine—Kym Whitley (The Parkers), Rodney Perry (Who’s Got Jokes?), Susan Floyd (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles...
