Peacock’s “Queer as Folk” reboot has officially come to an end.
The show, which premiered in June and reimagined the landmark gay series in New Orleans, was created by Russell T. Davies and Stephen Dunn. It starred Devin Way, Fin Argus, Jesse James Keitel, CG, Johnny Sibilly, and Ryan O’Connell and had been praised for featuring a much more diverse cast than previous takes on the property. The unapologetically political reboot was also noteworthy for taking on contemporary issues facing the gay community, such as mass shootings at gay bars (survivors of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando served as consultants).
Dunn took to social media to break the news of its cancellation on Friday night.
“It’s a rare gift in these times, and in this country, to be able to make a show as fearless and unapologetic as ‘Queer As Folk,'” Dunn wrote in an Instagram caption.

Breaking Glass Pictures has kicked off 2015 by acquiring four new films for distribution. "Saugatuck Cures" will have a limited theatrical release this spring. "Such Good People" follows a young gay couple that discovers a secret room filled with cash while house-sitting for friends. The cast includes Michael Urie ("Ugly Betty"), Randy Harrison ("Queer As Folk"), Ana Ortiz ("Devious Maids"), Scott Wolf ("Party of Five") and Nsync's Lance Bass. Sassy back-talking thieves, faux-new-age witticisms, snarky realty agents, and overly-ambitious homosexual couples: Such Good People has it all. With an endless list of celebrity guest stars and an adorably spunky main cast, Such Good People is an upcoming comedy about a cat-and-mouse hunt for buttloads of cash. The indie flick will be debuting at the Majestic Crest in Los Angeles on July 7th.
The film stars Michael Urie (of Ugly Betty fame) and Randy Harrison (best known for his role on Queer as Folk) in what is being touted as the first post-marriage-equality comedy. The veritably endless supporting cast includes: Scott Wolf (Party of Five, Perception), Ana Ortiz (Devious Maids, Ugly Betty), Carrie Wiita (Super Fun Night), Rick Overton (Groundhog Day), Tom Lenk (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Cabin in the Woods), musician and activist Lance Bass, Alec Mapa (Alec Mapa: Baby Daddy, Switched at Birth), Drew Droege (Sassy Pants,...

There was never anything like it and there will never be.
Those are the words of actress Sharon Gless talking about the gone-but-not-forgotten series, Queer As Folk, the Us take on the British hit series which ran on Showtime from December 2000- August 2005.
And while the actors from the show have been busy in multiple projects – Peter Paige (Emmett) is Exec Producing the ABC Family series, The Fosters, Gale Harold (Brian) has been acting in series like Defiance and The Secret Circle and Randy Harrison (Justin) has concentrated mostly onstage though he appears with Michael Urie in Such Good People, which is currently on the film festival circuit – is there a chance we could see them, along with co-stars Hal Sparks, Scott Lowell, Thea Gill, Michelle Clunie and, of course, multi Emmy-winner Sharon Gless, reprise their roles?
According to Gless, who talked to TheBacklot last week, the answer is yes.

We just can’t get enough of the vivacity, inventiveness and … bounce … of The Skivvies (Nick Cearley and Lauren Molina), especially when they bring in Special Guest Stars. They recently invited Queer As Folk‘s Randy Harrison to join them, and in this first clip, they sing a mashup of “Music and the Mirror, Dancing on My Own, I Wanna Dance with Somebody” and the Billy Idol classic “Dancing With Myself.”
The second clip features “Kiss Me” and “I Kissed A Girl.”
Randy sounds great, but what the hell is that skirt thing? It’s supposed to be Skivvies, Randy! Why are you shy all of a sudden?

When Queer As Folk debuted, it was a huge step forward in gay representation on TV, and part of the success of the series was the performance of Randy Harrison as teenager Justin Taylor. Justin was the heart of the show, and began a love affair with the character Brian Kinney …who was the dick of the show (you can interpret that however you want).
After Qaf, Randy has worked steadily, mostly on stage, where he continues to shine. And look for him this year starring with Michael Urie in the indie film Such Good People.
This weekend is his 36th birthday, so let’s pay tribute with a gallery of Randy at his sunshine best.

New York — Michael Urie recently shared his stage with a noisy visitor and was not amused. He was rehearsing his one-man show and the buzzing fly around his face was grossing him out.
"No," he told the annoying insect, in full diva-mode. "I work alone."
The former "Ugly Betty" star certainly doesn't need any help in Jonathan Tolins' utterly charming play "Buyer & Cellar," which reopened this week at the Barrow Street Theatre following a successful stint at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater.
The Juilliard-trained Urie plays a struggling actor who lands a job as a clerk in an underground mall of quaint shops. The weird part is the mall is part of Barbra Streisand's estate and only she goes down there.
Over 100 minutes, Urie plays out more than 30 scenes in which his character has a fraught tango with the fictional Babs, eventually teasing out questions about celebrity, materialism and fame.

Last night’s flashback-tastic New Girl episode, “Virgins,” was a treasure trove of music to set the mood — some songs more successfully than others — as the loftmates looked back on their first sexual encounters. Anchoring the eclectic mix (which ranged from Sublime to Boyz II Men and even figured in Lisa Loeb), Ellie Goulding’s “Anything Could Happen” kicked in during a fan-fulfilling scene between Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel).
It got us thinking of some of our favorite first-time anthems from shows of yore. Below, our ultimate Spotify playlist of coupling tracks!

A Love By Any Other Name: Lisecki’s Debut a Modest Comedic Gem
Based on his short film of the same name, director Jonathan Lisecki expands Gayby for his feature debut, a surprisingly well tread concept, into a delightful narrative exploring an all too familiar premise. Employing a plethora of notable film and television stars as reliable reinforcement, there’s nary a dull moment, for better or worse, in a feature that hits all the notes its heterosexual counterpart, Friends With Kids, just couldn’t.

About ten minutes into the comedy Gayby - in which a gay man and his best ladyfriend decide to procreate in the most dinner-party-convo-demolishing way possible (aka "The Old Fashioned Way") - I laughed out loud. Sure, some gay romcoms are cute, or naughty, or sweet - but laugh-out-loud funny? Pretty rare. So imagine my delight when I found my guard shattered to thousands of glittery bits by the well-placed use of the word "whimsical".
Written and directed by relative newcomer Jonathan Lisecki, Gayby tells the story of two New York City friends who want to be parents, and decide that it's time to use their natural biological complements to do so. Matt (Matthew Wilkas, aka "The Adorable Bastard Lovechild of Dexter and Stifler") works in a comic book store and is still sorting through the rubble of a failed long-term relationship. Jenn (future Gay Icon nominee Jenn Harris) is...
